Re: Reaction: Sony Kickstarts the Summer with Sizzling State of Play

Stevey_Mac

The State of Play was certainly a pleasant surprise for everyone given the calibre of the games they had to show off and for the most part all non first party stuff. If you could have had a little less Eternights/Season and then add in a little bit of Last of Us Remake I would genuinely have held this up there with some of the best E3 shows. That's how close it was to superb. But if not quite that it was most certainly excellent.

But just think of the games and first party titles Sony still has up it's sleeve even after a state of play like that. Most of those first party titles have yet to be announced too. Exciting times to be a PlayStation gamer folks. I can't wait to see what PlayStation Studios have in store for us next.

Again I'm not surprised to see Greg backtracking pretty quick. He got what he wanted. Eyes or rather ears on his podcast and now he's covering his ass. I imagine these are "throwaway" rumours and none of them are even close to realistic. If we get a spartacus announcement we've done well given Sony's recent track record with announcements. Expect very little and you won't be disappointed. This hype nonsense only makes mediocre announcements that much worse.

Re: Gran Turismo 7's New Approach to Microtransactions Isn't Going Down Well

Stevey_Mac

@twitchtvpat Again Pat like I said, you are entitled to your opinion. But if your argument for micro transactions is “you don’t own the game your opinions are lesser than mine” I’m not really sure that’s a very good avenue to go down. If they hadn’t taken this route with micro transactions they would have my £70 and I WOULD own the game. As it stands I don’t but I guarantee you I’ve watched enough reviews and read up enough to have taken that decision. They are putting popular cars behind timed paywalls that force you to either not spend and constantly horde your credits or “give us more money and you can buy it now”. I don’t understand how players like yourself can look at that and say it’s ok 🤷‍♂️ As I said it’s a matter of principal for me. Later down the road I may pick the game up on sale. But not supporting it at launch. I’m glad there are players out there like yourself that can look the other way and still have fun with it.

Re: Gran Turismo 7's New Approach to Microtransactions Isn't Going Down Well

Stevey_Mac

@twitchtvpat Well you’re very much entitled to disagree with me but it’s more of a principle at this point. If you can make money anyway why bother with micro transactions in the game then? If you don’t think in future you will be stung with limited windows to purchase cars then that’s up to you. But these companies don't put this in game and then give you everything for free anyway. They need incentive to sell as much of these in game credits as possible. That inevitably comes by hindering the player in the long run. Hence why they have added the always online mechanic. I would much rather pay for an expansion or dlc for post release content and have ZERO micro transactions for credits in the game.

Re: Gran Turismo 7's New Approach to Microtransactions Isn't Going Down Well

Stevey_Mac

I'm sorry but I just can't give them a pass here... We've waited years for this game and they've put the most exclusive cars behind a time-limited window that almost forces you to buy currency unless you are playing the game 24/7. It's never needed it before and at £70 it shouldn't have them. We aren't talking about a free to play game here that's using micro transactions to allow for that. This is greedy and shady from Polyphony. Perhaps I'll buy it on sale down the line somewhere, but I can't support this at launch as is.

Re: Gran Turismo 7 (PS5) - The Real Driving Simulator Makes Its Grand Return

Stevey_Mac

I’m very disappointed that this game despite it’s quality of design and gameplay has gone the way of the popular “pay 2 win” format. I understand it is hard for studios to pass up on the revenue that micro transactions provide but in a game where people pay to buy the best parts and own the best cars it seems foolish to tarnish the experience with a shady business like this. People have already paid £70 just to load it up and that’s not to mention how as a result of the micro transactions the game must be always online in order to play even single player content… I applaud Polyphony for the hard work and skill involved in making a game as beautiful as this. But it’s overwhelmingly disappointing that they have gone down this road with regard to in game micro transactions. Maybe I’ll wait and hope to get it on sale in the future but as is at launch I can’t support this.

Re: Feature: Our PS5, PS4 Predictions for PlayStation Showcase 2021

Stevey_Mac

My main hopes are that this isn't just mostly made up of new trailers for games we're already aware of. My most hoped for is that they announce the bluepoint acquisition and then announce a MGS remake, call it Shadow Moses and then a remastered collection available to buy on the PS5 that day. The Metal Gear rumours are killing me.... and every time i'm left disappointed. I can't even play the HD Remaster collection on PS5 for goodness sake! Couldn't even play it on PS4!!!! Please don't let me down AGAIN sony....

Re: Talking Point: Was Sony's Latest State of Play Livestream Any Good?

Stevey_Mac

It was thoroughly meh for me.... FIST looked good and was excited to see Sifu.... then crushed when it was delayed to next year. The state of play format feels stale now. I hope they have some sort of PSX larger style stream soon with better reveals and announcements. How long will I have to wait before I can expand the internal storage on my PS5 for god sake?!?!?!?

Re: Poll: Do You Use These Two Forgotten PS5 Features?

Stevey_Mac

I am fully aware that the dust catchers are there but because I keep my gaming area well dusted and it's only been a couple of months I haven't felt the need to check them. There should be an "I'm aware of them, but haven't felt the need to check them" option.

Re: Some People Are Getting Cat Food Instead of the PS5 They Paid For

Stevey_Mac

I purchased mine from GAME on September 16th. I paid £9.99 for DPD expedited delivery so it would be here on launch day. GAME switched my courier to DHL and it didn't arrive yesterday. The last tracking update I got from them was that it left a facility in East Midlands at 7am. After that there were no further updates. I eventually rang DHL after jumping through every hoop imaginable online to speak to someone. They said "yea we're sorry it looks like it won't be delivered today, it's been delayed. Just keep an eye on your tracking, that's the best we can do unfortunately". As for GAME, I contacted them about a refund for the £9.99 they charged for day one delivery that didn't happen and yes you guessed it.... ZERO replies from anyone at GAME. I will never use GAME or DHL to purchase or deliver anything in future. They are horrendous! I just pray my PS5 turns up today (Friday).
