Re: Tactical Shooter Insurgency: Sandstorm Pulls the Trigger on PS4 Release Date

@nathanSF Most of the customization options for the "allies" are based around middle-eastern ethnicity, with most of the names for the different premade faces being Arabic. So it's very much a setting of arab forces (Allied trained and with Allied equipment) fighting against terrorists in their own country. But nice woke take I suppose...

@Jaz007 You can resupply if you have a teammate with an ammo bag nearby. Teamwork is much more important in this game than say CoD or Battlefield.

@JoeBlogs Yeah, truly a lot of varied opinions being expressed here. "You didn't have to post it and start all this". This is a scary mentally that I see more and more. Should I keep quiet because my opinion differs from the majority? That's a slippery road my dude, and leads to bubbles like these forming and increasing in size. Regardless, I called it for what it is - blackwashing. I'll leave it up to the individual if they find that term loaded, to me it's just a fact in this case. I appreciate your response above the last one though. Much better. I think we disagree on the importance of historical accuracy, or in the case of the Witcher, source material accuracy. If that doesn't bother you, great. My first post included me saying the news of these stellar ratings were good news to people who enjoyed the show. Hope you enjoy the second season.

@tameshiyaku Nah, Hollywood would never allow that. I'm reacting like there is blackwashing going on in the Witcher, which there is. I'm also perfectly chill, if anything I'm quite tired as I have to respond to 4+ people all deciding to circlejerk around me. There is plenty of representation these days so no worries on that front. As more and more POC starts writing and creating shows, the representation will increase, and hopefully you won't have to mess with other works to make up for a perceived deficit. That's all.

@quinnyboy58 Well this was just a matter of time wasn't it? I'd strongly urge you to start thinking for yourself instead of repeating stuff like a parrot to anyone with a different view. First lesson, look up the definition of "racism" and realize that the requirement to be a racist is far beyond what I have even remotely expressed here. Stop throwing the term around and diminish its meaning.

@NorrinRadd Don't see the relevance with that first bit, but feel free to elaborate.

Offended is a strong word. I just don't want to support it. You're very brave for taking a stance in this discussion though. I could really feel your passion. If you don't think having a consistent world with characters that fit into the narrative is important in storytelling then you are the one who lacks the understanding. I never said it had to precisely mirror the source material. That would be very hard. You can still try to stay true to it. The Witcher indeed tells a story and does so very well with the help of non-humans and witches. What purpose does PoC fill to enhance the story?

@nessisonett Yes, Slavic countries has PoC living in them -now-. That's true for all western countries. Ah, I forgot, it's the CURRENT YEAR (or last year to be precise). Silly me, I retract all my comments. I appreciate the life tip at the end there, although it is a bit lacking on the constructive side.

@deadfred77 What's the relevance of your point exactly? Humans aren't supernatural creatures of mythology and fantasy last time I checked. Think really hard about what your point is and please elaborate if you figure it out.

I'm kinda new to this site so I didn't really expect the mob mentality to be this strong here, but I have now learned my lesson, ResetEra.

@JoeBlogs Missed opportunity to say "Let's dance!". I hear what you're saying about the means of travelling, but there isn't much to go on in terms of human ethnic diversity when looking at the books. The prejudice of the relevant societies are based around witches, the supernatural and the unholy, much like...you guessed it, medieval Europe. You also have the non-human races which essentially replaces the people of colour, but that wasn't enough apparently. You say our 21th century views on ethnicity aren't relevant to the world of the Witcher, yet the casting of these actresses as Triss and Yen is very much political, and if you don't think so then I don't know what to tell you.

While your argument is logical, it has little to no foundation to stand on when it comes to the Witcher setting. And if you insist, as a woke production company, to include PoC characters, why not make new ones? Evidently you don't seem to care about the source material all that much, so why not please both fans and casuals by adding black characters instead of changing pre-existing ones?

I also don't understand why quality actors and staying true to the source material has to be mutually exclusive? Surely you're not denying there are talented white women who could pull off Triss and Yen? You can have both.

Appreciate a proper reply though. If only you had started with that.

@NorrinRadd Others have answered your question now, and they are correct. Since the Witcher is based on Slavic folklore and has a European-inspired setting, it's quite strange to have people of colour running taking prominent roles. Sadly this isn't uncommon these days. I am of course against whitewashing as well but I imagine the SJW's of this site are already seeing red by now.

@JoeBlogs You must be fun to have discussions with.
