£70 for the standard physical edition. I’ll have to wait for a significant price drop
People already complaining about price lmao get a new hobby
£62.99. HMV Online.
Pre ordered from the game collection for £57 as I had £7 in rewards points
So you pay £10 more for some cosmetics and you don't get the disc WTF??!?!? I know they do this for collectors editions but the deluxe as well, complete joke if you ask me, I'll stick with standard.
I'll be going with the digital deluxe myself for it. Now that Expedition 33 has launched this is my next most anticipated release! Sucker Punch doesn't miss. The best studio in Playstation's 1st party in my opinion.
Collector's Edition ordered.
I agree with the sentiment that Digital Deluxe editions very rarely make actual sense unless they offer some story DLC, as finding and collecting items is part of the in-game activities anyway so if you have the best looking thing to start it negates a part of the game people enjoy. I tend to ignore any cosmetic or item bonuses until I'm well into a game either way. That being said, when I got Baldur's Gate 3 Deluxe it was purely to support how enthusiastic the devs seemed during all the pre-release footage, and the bonus cape and lute got a tonne of use until I could find legit capes in-game so 🤷♂️😅 it's almost like DDE's are exclusively a way to tip a company for making games you want, so that is a good enough justification. Logically you don't really get much, but as long as people know what they are doing and are aware going in (not expecting story DLC), all is good
@StandardMario
I preorder Sony Studio titles every time. I like to turn on my PS5 on release day and have the game fully installed and updated to start right away. And when time is allowing I can play the game the second it goes live so thats just nice.
Physical collectors edition without a disc. Pathetic.
I went for the physical eddition pre-order.
@Blauwe_Chimay but handy for those with digital only consoles 😁
I just want the standard game with a Steelbook option please...
@Medic_alert u keep on forgetting how much video games cost to make and all the people they have to pay your hobby is luxury
250€ for a collectiors edition without a disc is typical sony satire.
Thanks, I didn't know which version to pre-order. I just wanted the disc. I'll put the rest into whatever physical artbook they hopefully release down the line. Sucker Punch did a great job with The Art of Ghost of Tsushima, even the slipcase was beautiful. Maybe one of the best artbooks I've ever seen, it spoiled the entire game for me too and I didn't mind. I just kept reading.
Nothing showing up in the US store as of yet. Hoping the collectors edition doesn’t sell out before I can grab one.
GTA is now my most hype but this is a close second. Preorder in!
Waiting on that CE to hit preorders in my region. Think I am gonna need a new display case. Ikea is about to fleece me.
No steelbook is insane. I don't like this kind of Sony.
The standard price in Brazil has changed from R$ 350 to R$ 400. This is a big jump. I was going to preorder the game as soon as it was available, but now I'm seriously reconsidering it. This is just too damn expensive. Truly a bummer.
@Ravix @CrispyMango92 Ordered the CE myself.
I'll save it and put it under the tree for next Christmas. Nothing beats a new game on Christmas Morning.
@Ryu_Niiyama how do you display your things? (you may have already posted in the Gaming Tat thread, so I'll check) I'm starting to think I need a case rather than just having stuff out open on cabinets, but haven't decided on what kind of case would work. Wall mounted, floor standing etc.
@Shepherd_Tallon aha, yes. I doubt I'll wait as it feels like I'll need to be playing the game by late autumn (if it doesn't get delayed)
Couldn't resist it for the mask tbh. I was going to see what kind of authentic gear can be had instead of the CE, but found a lack of options in the UK for masks etc. Also, I'm not fully certain on the new laws that cover "ninja swords" here, as that seems like a very random categorisation, but that's a whole other issue if one were to want a japanese sword display (which one does) 😅
@Ravix "(which one does)" 😂
For myself I just couldn't resist a second mask to go alongside the first one.
I'll be doing an extension on the house hopefully before the end of September. I want the two masks on one side of the TV in the new game room once it's complete.
The sash is nice too. I'll probably frame that for the door or something.
Pre-ordered Digital Deluxe can't wait gonna replay the first one soon too get hyped 🔥
Prices already went up to 80€ on some sites here. They really didn't hesitate to up the prices. Going to wait for a better price.
Probably gonna go with deluxe, but not 100% on that yet. Any big 1st party release (GoW, Spider-Man, etc.) I often gravitate toward the Collector’s but a statue is usually the big selling point for me. The mask here is cool but not really good enough for me to open my wallet more. So I’m ok passing on the Collector’s here.
@Shepherd_Tallon noice! Purpose built gaming palace? 😁
I'm going to try and find some nice (and hopefully still legal) replica swords to go with the Tsuba. I'm really liking the white Tsuka & Saya on black robes look I'm rocking in AC Shadows lately and if I can find something similar IRL it would probably pair with the white mask nicely for a display of some kind.
@Ravix I've been thinking of doing something similar for the Tsuba, but I'm always afraid whatever I order will be flawed in some way once it gets here. Nice swords are hard to come by.
@Ryu_Niiyama Man, my display case is full and whenever I talk about getting a new one, my girlfriend gives me the look. 😂 But It wouldn’t fit anywhere anyway so I’ll be going for a new one (or 2 or 3??) when I eventually get a house.
@Shepherd_Tallon I completely forgot about it until I saw the notification in my email about you replying to me so thank you for that. Was able to grab a CE as well but unfortunately my PS credit card CVV doesn’t save in my phone so had to use my other card. Just Lost out on a lot of points but rather secure a copy instead of lose out on it over points.
@Ravix if you use Amazon, you can search up Beauty4U glass display cabinet. That’s the display case I have for my statues and it looks great. PS I’m from the US so don’t know if it’ll show up in the UK store but doesn’t hurt to try.
@CrispyMango92 Ah then I'm glad I pinged you!
@Shepherd_Tallon I imagine it's especially hard for Japanese swords as there is a lot going on, and each element can have its own design flair, be it engravings, carvings, painted elements, inlay etc.
Have you had, or do you have any swords at the moment, Japanese or otherwise?
@Ravix No none at all actually. It's one of those things I always meant to get into, but somehow never found the time.
You?
@Shepherd_Tallon just the one at the moment, single handed, knights templar style. But I'm very much desiring a Japanese Katana/Tanto combo for a horizontal display, and maybe some more medieval styles to make a 3 sword vertical hanging display.
Ideas still up in the air, but I can see it working quite nicely.
It's not a 'physical collectors edition' if there isn't a physical game. Sorry Sony, that's not a 'complete physical collection' that's a digital collectors edition.
@Medic_alert that's understandable , but at the same time you can't really question why they aren't making too many new games these days if they aren't selling or making a profit. if every one waits for games to drop in price , they just won't make as many games , which is a pretty big part in why we are here.
These high prices aren’t great if you’re a collector but me, I’m just a gamer. I bought Indiana homes for 65 quid at launch and sold it yesterday for 43 at cex. I’ll be gutted wen physical goes away
@CrispyMango92 cheers. I think if I do go for it I'll end up wall mounting a smaller unit more of a landscape style maybe 2 shelves. Still not totally sure on that though, as I'm not completely against having things on regular shelves/cabinets rather than behind glass.
I tend to go for things that are either historical or at least realistic looking in style, and not overly gamey in terms of colour pallete either, so having an open display kind of suits that anyway. But I also dislike dust, so that would be one positive for glass casing 😅
@Ravix all depends on your lifestyle! I own two cats and my girlfriend loves fostering so there’s usually 3 cats at home (like now) so a glass case was necessary. My cats aren’t the type to knock things down but one can never be too careful. Rather have it locked in a cabinet where they can’t be dropped rather than on a shelf and have them fall and break. Too expensive of a hobby to take that risk!
@CrispyMango92 aha. Yeah, no cats allowed as a personal preference, so that's not an issue 🫡 Just the thought of bringing some more things together in a neater and larger display area in future as I expand into other items was on my mind.
I'll point you both towards this thread btw:
https://www.pushsquare.com/forums/ps_general_discussion/gaming_tat
as this is where other collectors and all kind of brigands and strange sorts gather to post any items, collections, news of new releases etc. It's not massively populated at the moment, but if either of you have some stuff to share it'd be cool to see.
@Shepherd_Tallon
Collectors edition ordered. Only the second collectors edition i recall buying in 35+ years of gaming, but the mask will look good on my office desk. (The other also came this year with death stranding 2 for the same reason)
@Medic_alert You can call it gas lighting, but many of us are fully aware and just dont care about physical ownership. I never trade in or sell, usually just throw away or give away if its not useful. Its why i went all digital.
When younger I cared a lot about "ownership", but now its just more junk I dont need to be looking at.
Once done with the mask from this one and the statue from ds2, ill probably just give them to my 9 year old or her friends to play with as I look for something else.
@Ravix Sounds very nice.
I want something similar for a katana. I'd like a longsword too, but I have no idea what to go for there.
@Ravix Ah very cool. Thanks for the link 👍
@Ravix so it depends on what it is. So smaller statues like my f4f pvcs or the Star Trek exo-6 or the mask for ghost of Tsushima go into glass cases (I used the Ikea detolf before they were discontinued. gotta use their new crappy ones now. ). Larger statues go on top of small two drawer stands to function as plinths and I put plexiglass cases over them so I don’t have to dust them to death. Smaller items like funko are interspersed in bookcases where there is shelving space (for instance I have risers so you can see them over my books) and I also add light shelving to the walls. Much smaller items that are boxed sit on shelves, proplica (so think master sword) are on walls. Comics that are not boxed are in frames (I am a huge alex ross fan so his timeless series is bought solely to display.) next to art prints and posters are either framed or boarded to look nicer. Action figures still in box are hung on command hooks from the walls. Lego usually sit on top of book cases (I am an avid reader so bookcases are the most furniture I have. And I have a lot). I need more plexiglass.
My star trek models I am still trying to figure that out. I want to hang them from the ceiling with fishing wire but have to do so in a way that is apartment friendly. Plushies are netted and hung from the ceiling. My games are in drawers (i use the drawers my statues sit on and have a large 6 drawer cabinet that houses the majority of my collection) while my modern games (ps4,ps5, wiiu, xbox one/series x) are on shelves. My switch and 3ds games are in a game case holder because I have too many to shelve.
But I am preparing to move so most of it is being boxed and put in storage as I will need to replace some furniture that won’t survive a move. So I will be redoing my entire setup lmao. Moving is a fricken nightmare. Even with me clearing most of the items to storage it will take 3 hours for 3 movers to clear the furniture. And I used to do it mostly alone. I am a five foot four inches woman.
@CrispyMango92 Yeah I hear about that from friends. I live alone but when I do date (no time) I make sure my girlfriend is a gamer as well. Non gamer women definitely don’t tolerate gamer women as partners because it is seen as illogical or a waste of time (like as in they are harder on other women than they are on men). And since my collection is 3 decades old I have a lot of stuff.
I have kept a few of my male friends’s wives from going ham on their collection by explaining the cost and time investment.
I work from home so my apartment is larger as I have to have a separate work space. Plus I can decorate throughout the home rather than being restricted to a room. But it is a PITA to move and set up.
If u gonna raise the price im gonna wait for sale, groovy
@Ravix oh nice! I’ll have to post my collection when I get back home Sunday.
@Ryu_Niiyama oof, that sucks. My girlfriend and I share very different interests but she would never actually try to toss my stuff out or anything. That’s just basic respect. And that’s unfortunate about women disapproving of your hobby just because you’re also a woman. I hope you find someone who respects your hobby.
@Medic_alert yes and no. it means they'll only really push games they know that are going to sell and take less risks. luckily i don't think a game like ghosts will struggle to sell i think it will do well. but its also why they are milking horizon to death because it makes them the most money. one horizon game has made more money then the entire killzone franchise.
Pre-ordered!! Can't wait
@Medic_alert they actually make less profit now compared to 20 yrs ago. The amount of development now compared to them is ten fold more than how much prices went up.
I've got a digital only PS5 so I always opt for the standard edition when buying games day one. Most of the time I wait for a sale, though.
@CrispyMango92 people have different relationships. Most of my friends were trying to get collections put in storage or complaining the husband wasn’t focusing on the household. Which I get that complaint. For some I would talk to both partners as a neutral party. When I was at GameStop though there were a lot of “I just got married tradeins”. Never understood that but I had some regulars that honestly were addicted to gaming so that might have been an attempt to go cold turkey (obviously I never saw them again). That was like burning money considering how little you get back.
Eh I get it. Depending on upbringing, gaming was often socialized to be either “boy’s toys” or something you grew out of. And a lot of women get saddled with being primary household caretakers (usually while working) so it often falls away. My best friend loves games but has 3 kids and works, so gaming isn’t something she has time for. Her husband is a nice enough guy, but does less childcare and home chores than she does. I inherited gaming from my mother so I was raised differently for my age group. Anyway she’s out there somewhere. I’ll find her eventually lol.
@Medic_alert not really... Probably not even double.
Oh I was comparing now to 20 yrs ago like during PS2 generation. Recent numbers rising have a lot to do with mobile gaming. But my argument has been more about AAA game development budgets.
"Deluxe" without a disc is just "below average".
@Hapless It like they know they screw you over and spit in your face to make it clear here is a steelcase with nothing in it.
@PerpetualBoredom How about paying €250 and getting a steelcase with no game. The digital crowd doesnt want the hassle of disc and wasting of space.
@Flaming_Kaiser yeah, the all-digital crowd just loves to throw money at companies.
@PerpetualBoredom Its like they know it and they laugh in your face.
