A game where the trailers told a better story. MGS5s best parts were when it was linear. The intro, the infection on Mother Boss. Kojimas games are better as linear affairs. Just look at Death Stranding, while it's enjoyable, that open world is just there to stretch out play time.
Shame the game runs like ass and as soon as you come across another players base you're dealing with constant jitters, terrible FPS and straight up freezes.
@Oram77 To be fair he didn't say he wouldn't be in it, just that he isn't the lead character. They also seemed to hint ABIT at other OG characters showing up.
@GeeForce Not the same really. The ports over to PC are handled by different studios, not the ones that originally created the game, usually 2 years later aswell, making it specifically made for that platform. Here is the lead developer making the version of the game.
6/10. Side missions are dull, open world is used for game time padding, puzzles are piss easy, gunplay is poor, stealth is poor and AI is horribly bad. Put pushing Nazis over railings is great, the Indy punch and whip sound effects touch my senses in nice ways and the parts you watch are much better than the parts you play.
7/10 from me. Weakest entry in awhile. It's nice that it opens it up for new players, but its soo dumbed down and stripped back that fights are just boring. Can breeze through every fight without any prep or need to even care about what element your weapon is.
Games can have great lighting without ray tracing, I wish people stopped using it so we can get better performance back into games, which is sacrificed for such a minimal thing.
50 minute time limit to hunter a monster, kill it in 6. I'm rank 42 and only died once (and that was due to trying to navigate my inventory). All main quests done, bunch of side stuff done. Easy as sin.
@nomither6 Yes, because as we know, a GPU is all you need to run games. All this talk about CPUs, compatible motherboards, PSUs, SSDs, cooling and even a case also being required is utter nonsense.
@Ravix Gaming is my hobby, I have the money for it and I'm always willing to buy big hitter games despite reviews to make up my own mind. I don't hate Ubisoft, they used to be my favourite publisher back in the day when they released actual Rainbow Six games and good Prince of Persia games (the new one is actually great so it's about time). Maybe I'm just bitter they are keeping Splinter Cell hostage. But Outlaws is one of their duds. Star Wars fan save face because it's good at being Star Wars, but as a videogame, it's poor.
@Ravix Outlaws is just poor in general. Combat is poor, stealth is poor, animation is poor, story and characters are poor. It plays like a 2001 game in 2024. The idea was there, but the execution is way off.
@Ravix You seem to be focused on this one particular act of mine, as if this is how I spent my whole time playing the game. It is not. I merely experimented with the bush to see how simple the stealth/AI is in the game. The stealth isn't good, no matter how you approach it. If you have to TRY and make the stealth fun yourself, then thats simply bad game design by the developers. The tools at your disposal should be there because you actually need them and the gameplay should be designed around that. If you have to force yourself to find a need then yeah, bad game design.
@Ravix Sure it's my choice to be in that bush, but it should be up to the game to counter my doing that. Thats the difference between games that do stealth right, and games that don't. Outlaws stealth is soo basic that the AI intelligence is nowhere to be seen.
@Shalooda I'm sorry, but as someone whose favourite genre is stealth, Outlaws stealth is nowhere near "great" or "better than most". Outlaws stealth involves crouching behind boxes then moving to the next box when nobody is looking. It's barebones AT BEST. The last time I played Outlaws was about 2 days after release because I sat in a single bush and whistled for someone to come over, then do a takedown. I repeated this same tactic SIX more times without moving from the same spot in the bush and not one of the enemies showed any sort of intelligence. Good stealth mechanics require good AI, which Outlaws does not have. At all.
@MaddieTian Not really, it's on par with rental, except you get a whole whack of stuff for your payment. It's a well known fact that you don't own anything in subscription services, so it's hardly a scam.
@Slippship I kinda see it like life. You are born at the start and you die at the end. Those things are set in stone, its all the stuff inbetween that matters.
@Slippship Always been weird to me that people don't seem to consider all the choices you make and how it affects the actual meat of a story as the thing to care about, but instead focus on the end. Why does having one ending matter, when the meat of the game at the centre is different?
@MakersMark Something Metal Gear related already came after 5, Metal Gear Survive. Sure it was *****, but it shows that Konami isnt afraid to go ahead with MGS without Kojima. To be fair I'd much prefer somebody else had a stab at MGS, 5 showed that Kojimas ego got in the way of his game design.

Re: Resident Evil 2, 3 PS1 Ports Disappoint with No Trophy Support on PS5, PS4
I don't know if it's cause I'm 37, but I don't get the big deal with trophies.
Re: Interview: Out Today, Ready or Not Is the Modern, Relentless Rainbow Six: Vegas for PS5
@Frmknst It's a full single player campaign with over 20 maps....and a coop mode for you and your buddies. It's hardly a "simple multiplayer shooter".
Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Death Stranding 2?
@lazarus11 Fast traveling while having deliveries reduces your score greatly though.

Weird, I saw a very simplistic generic action game with plays by itself combat, giving off strong The Order 1886 vibes.
