Next Ghost Recon Game

Apparently targeting a 2025 / 2026 release, the next game in Ubisoft's Ghost Recon series has been unveiled by Insider Gaming. The outlet cites anonymous sources, but its track record on all things Ubisoft is practically peerless, so we're sure there's a large degree of accuracy here.

Off the back of 2019's Ghost Recon: Breakpoint — which was a divisive instalment, to say the least — it sounds like the franchise is attempting to revisit its roots. 'Project Over' is described as a first-person tactical shooter with squad-based gameplay. It also boasts 'milsim' (military simulator) elements, suggesting that it's going for a grounded, realistic feel.

Supposedly, the story will see your Ghost squad infiltrate a warzone in order to track down a traitor. According to Insider Gaming's report, "the game appears to take heavy inspiration from the Modern Warfare series, with some potential dark or controversial missions and segments." There's also talk of the title being a "significant" upgrade in terms of visuals.

Given the rumoured release window, we could see this new Ghost Recon game being officially revealed later this year — but it all depends on how far along the project actually is.
