This really does look like Mario 64 turned VR (I haven't played newer Mario games so maybe there is a better example). I just love how the robot runs like Mario and slides around, and of course the coins.
@Ristar24 Same. TR reboot was great. Loved the growth. Rise didnt have that initial draw.. no character attachment or even development to speak of.. just the usual curiosity and braving the odds. Maybe it changes later but they seem to have counted on the character attachment transitioning from the other game and it didnt work out for me. Still a good game but I just wasnt as compelled to see where the story went so I stopped playing for something else and kinda forgot. I will get back to it one of these days and then play Shadow. I havent looked into Shadow much, no point til I beat Rise, but what little Ive heard about the direction sounds like it's got true character development like the first game. Sounds cool and my impression is they noticed what Rise was missing relative to the first game. They learned from it even though the game did well. I cant ask for more than that.
@BarFooToo Western games dont typically sell well in Japan from what I understand, which is why it's a good rate, and why sales expectations and stock were lowas you mentioned. It is def a low rate for a game like this in US/UK.. at least a low final rate but not sure about only 10 days in.. but it's no small feat to have the game appeal to this many Japanese gamers.
Apparently the end suggests a sequel. I haven't gotten there yet tho. Personally I'd love their take on Maximum Carnage and get to play as Venom at times. Ever since the Gamecube game.. Ultimate Spiderman I think? I've wanted a fuller Venom open world experience. Love Venom traversal with his super jumps.
@Giygas_95 They have all 3 suits from MCU. Homemade suit is the one he uses before Stark finds him in Civil War. Stark Suit is the suit he gets from Stark and wears later in Civil War, most of homecoming before Stark takes it back, and beginning of infinity war. Then Iron suit is the one ur thinking of and it even has the claw arms.
@KALofKRYPTON doubtful for symbiote. That will hopefully be next game with a full on campaign for Venom. Venom deserves more attention than DLC can give. I hope Venom is in 2 and Carnage is saved for a vicious, dark story in 3.
Also the DLC pack names hint to Black Cat, Silver Sable and some turf war. Nothing sounds like Venom. Doesnt mean he won't be in them.. but would be a waste if they didn't go hard on Venom story.
@b1ackjack_ps @BearsEatBeets It's not time consuming, takes maybe an hour, just make sure you unlock all radar towers first which only takes 15 minutes or so. It's also really fun when you know what you are doing and can swing through the air, then turn and take a pic, and keep swinging by like nothing happened.
@BearsEatBeets It's easier to do it in game. You just pull up the map and see them, then press X on them to get a waypoint to them. A lot of them you will just pass naturally as you press R3 to ping the area and see nearby locations. It would be more work looking here than in the game. Already did it all. Thought the photos were dumb at first, but after I got the hang of swinging and didn't have to think about what buttons to press, it was really fun swinging and taking photos from mid air like Spiderman would haha, though you can just take a photo from the ground.
@BAMozzy The underdog platform will always have a higher percentage of dedicated gamers. XB fans were dedicated enough to stick with the platform out of brand loyalty even when it was inferior to PS4 at start of gen. You don't get that kind of loyalty unless you use the product enough.
Meanwhile PS4 had those same loyal fans, but also gets a lot more casuals that just saw PS4 was decidedly the best console to get. Those with no preference will take the popular choice, watering down some of the statistics.
@Nesstark88 I like these survival mechanics. I feel like they should have an easy mode for people who don't like it, but that as you raise difficulty there are more features like bike management (maybe no bike concerns on easy, gas management on normal, then gas and repair on hard, then reduced carry weight on very hard). Just put trophies on the harder settings so you get credit for not being a scrub (my main gripe with God of War.. no difficulty based trophies).
Last of Us did a good job with taking away the hearing perk and limiting resources as you raised difficulty, plus giving a trophy to show you beat the game completely, not just on an easy difficulty.
Am I the only one that remembers Sony Bend literally said the reason they delayed release was due to them wanting to polish the game to compete with the other amazing titles Sony's first party developers have been releasing? They said this around God of War launch.
I havent kept close tabs on this game so maybe more info has cone out, but I think author may have been speculating when he said crowded release schedule. Fair speculation. There are some really awesome games coming out so pushing the release does actually make it a more likely day one buy for me.
@Giygas_95 God of War is hard, if you want to platinum and haven't yet, would recommend not doing God of War difficulty, and then you could always save that to get a 3rd playthrough. Though if you don't care about trophies and don't mind having to work at the same part occasionally, God of War difficulty is the way to play in my opinion.
I played in God of War on my first play and beat it but haven't done side stuff. I plan to do new game plus on easier difficulty to wrap up trophies, then do a 3rd play at some point on the new, more challenging God of War NG+.
Internal mods all over again. You already caved on this and made it work differently on PS4. It's hollow to claim this stance for the game whose absence has the least impact on revenue and then take games like Elder Scrolls Blades and Fallout 76 and put them on PS4 when they are impacted the same way by cross play. ES Legends doesnt need cross play unless you are just worried too few people will play it to get a PvP match. Just seems like a chance to pretend they are taking a stand, as long as it doesnt matter at all. This and mods on PS4 are the only times I've ever been embarrassed for Bethesda, both due to Pete getting a bit vocal about frustration with Sony policies. I do think cross play is great, but put your money where your mouth is and try this for Fallout 76 and ES Blades. That would actually spark something.
@AhmadSumadi Skyrim has had some awesome updates recently. Looks noticeably better, especially on Pro, and they improved/fixed a lot of controls and added settings. Menus are way easier to read too and waypoints easier to spot. All around a much better experience so that is a nice perk of holding off on buying VR. Hopefully the Skyrim bundle can go down to something crazy cheap like $200 for Black Friday. I think I've seen it for $250 which is insane enough considering the game and controllers and camera alone are $200.
@brendon987 By Black Friday it should be mad cheap. Already so, sooo much better than launch price. Though at least the longer you wait, the more games there will be and the cheaper the older games will be. RE7 goes on sale for really cheap nowadays. Skryim VR has been half off too.
@Turismo4GT Plus GT Sport was made for specs well above PS4 Pro. Developers said it would probably even hold up in 8K. Seems like they are in the know that their platform's future hardware will support their game. Seems like they will just unlock higher end visuals when PS5 is out.
There was one other game/developer that gave a clue just like this, but I can never effing remember.
@eltomo Castle Crashers was a fun little PS3 game if you haven't seen it yet. Simple but satisfying gameplay, with leveling and co-op. The humor is great too. Not a PS exclusive but good cheap game.
@NintendoFan4Lyf Ohhh niccce. I went 65 inch too with Bravia 850D. Nothing special but was $1650 so couldnt really go higher.. that was just before Pro launched though so prices are down more now. I dont know much about TV's but Im loving it!
@NintendoFan4Lyf If it makes you feel any better, few games really implement it well, as far as I have seen. The best example is God of War, which because of the type of game, is able to use both deep colors and ultra brights, whereas games like Horizon Zero Dawn and Uncharted 4 tried to look more realistic, which is limiting.
Anyway, every day you hold off, more developers are getting better at HDR presentation and the TV's are getting cheaper too. I would hold off until Black Friday so you can save up and get a really nice TV for cheap, and not have to upgrade for a decade or so.
However if you don't want to wait, TCL 49S405 49-Inch 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV (2017 Model) is $300 on Amazon. Just large enough for the 4K to matter (which will make your games look sharper automatically even without a PS4 Pro), and has HDR and it's a smart TV too. Has 3 HDMI ports too so if you ever have PS4, XB1 and Switch you can have all set up That's the best cheap TV I've seen when looking for TV's for my friends. Has almost 3,000 reviews on Amazon and has 4.5 stars. It also has a headphone jack if you ever need to watch TV quietly, and a USB port for your phone, laptop, etc. and of course has 120 Hz refresh rate.
Never played any games with Sack Boy or Snake so went Geralt and Sonic, but man considering Geralt is neck and neck with Sack Boy, those games (whatever the ef they are called) must be better than they look... way, way better.
@kimpod1 Actually it came out in March this year, two months ago, but like you said it's already out. You were probably thinking of the PS3 version that came out in 2012.
@playstation1995 Haha I dono man I think Last of Us 2 might knock it down to 2nd best franchise haha. Currently I can't call Last of Us a franchise since it's just one game. I'm 100% certain Last of Us 2 will be far surpass even the high bar set by GoW, but GoW has had time to build fans and Last of Us only had one game so I really doubt the fan base of Last of Us is even close to the fan base of GoW.
Spiderman could beat GoW in sales but that's not a franchise yet either, and I only think it has a chance to win outsell GoW because Spiderman is a more recognizable name. I have no expectation that Spiderman will be a better game than GoW. Though Spiderman looks awesome and I'm snagging that too.
@FullbringIchigo No, it would not necessarily make them lazy. It's not as simple as that. If you know you have the option to not be bothered and therefore can't bring yourself to choose to be bothered relative to the other option, that's pragmatic.
It's like driving a car to work a few blocks away instead of walking (if money for gas isn't a factor of course). Most can't be bothered to walk when they can drive. They walk further distances all the time so they aren't too lazy to walk, they just see the more convenient alternative and see no reason not to take it. Like physical games relative to digital, walking relative to driving is a needless consumption of time and energy that you could avoid and make life easier.
Though I'm not saying your friend isn't lazy or that people can't choose to go digital purely because they are lazy. I'm saying you made a blanket statement. It was true in some cases but not others. Plenty of people who are not lazy in the least go digital purely because they can't be bothered with the less convenient option relative to the more convenient option. That choice is always pragmatic, but it is not always inspired by laziness. That was what I meant when I said you were really giving an example of pragmatism and not of laziness, but they are closely related concepts in this case and the confusion was 100% understandable.
Also I know my comments are often long haha so don't blame you for skimming the last one, but as I already said I get the selling/trading point, but you can lend games digitally and it's a vastly superior experience to lending games physically. Other than the extra effort you have to make initially to log in on a friend's PS4, you can easily let friends borrow all your games at the press of a button, and you can still play your own games while they play the same game, so you can even play with them if it's multiplayer. Enhanced lending capabilities are one of the biggest perks of going digital and what I take advantage of the most. The only downside is that you have to have access to their console once initially to log in to your account. This is assuming you don't trust them with your password which generally people don't, but clearly that small amount of effort is nothing compared to switching discs every time so doubt logging in once would bother you at all. I literally JUST had my brother activate his PS4 a few minutes ago so he could play my games. Was as easy as telling him "go ahead". To be clear, my brother does not live with me. Additionally I can remotely deactivate his console to let another friend activate whenever I wish, as we have a system set up to always keep his PS4 in rest mode so I can access/deactivate it through Remote Play.
Though I completely get your preference and reasoning and I'm not saying you should go digital. Owning physical has a different feeling that you don't quite get with digital and sounds like you would be missing out if you didn't have that so you are making the right choice for you. Took me a while to appreciate digital but I feel like anyone who grew up with an iPod instead of CD's would understand it more immediately than I did.
@FullbringIchigo That doesn't really satisfy the definition of lazy. Lazy means unwilling to work or use energy. Laziness would be not playing a game just because you only own it on disc and don't want to get up to put it in. However choosing to conduct yourself in ways that increase convenience is pragmatic, unless of course the experience is reduced.. then I'd call that lazy.
At this point you really need good reason to go physical. Poor download speeds, resellability, and of course, while I am as proud of my digital collection as I was of my physical back in the day, a lot of people grew up building a physical collection and there is a compulsion to expand on that collection with more physical games as opposed to starting an entirely new collection digitally. In fact, some people even think they wouldn't enjoy having a digital collection the same way they would physical (I though that) but I sift through my digital collection with pride when I'm alone and show it off to friends same as I did my physical, and it's easier to look through too. Outside of particular situations and preferences, digital is really the best choice. In fact, most people who buy physical really just do it out of habit or because they don't know the value of digital.
Resistance to change is natural and very likely a large part of your own reasoning, if you are willing to be honest with yourself. Hell it was for me. The first game I got digital was Black Ops 2 so that I could have it digital on my PS3 and let my brother play my physical on his PS3, but I got physical first. Digital was so we could play together without having to split screen because split screen in zombies sucked haha.. took away peripheral view. I had no intention of going digital and I never got another digital game until Black Ops 3 for similar reasons (also got the Juggenog physical edition).
At that time I felt compelled to buy physical to add to my collection of games, being materialistic instead of pragmatic. The final nails in the coffin for physical were when I learned file size is no different on your hard drive and that I didn't need both physical and digital to play on two consoles, as with digital you can activate a friend's console and let him play on his account while you play on your own account on any (usually your) console. Physical is more convenient to let a friend borrow the first time you let them borrow a game, but after that it's actually less convenient because you have to physically hand off each game they borrow every time they borrow it. With digital, the first time they "borrow" you have to log in to your account on their PS4, but after that you never need to meet up with them again to let them borrow any game you ever get, plus you can still play the games they are playing, with or without them. With physical, if they borrow it you can't play it at all, let alone with them.
There are a lot of benefits to digital people don't really think about or know about. Still if you were to say the ONLY reason you wanted physical was to build upon your collection, that is plenty good reason in my book. I don't want physical to ever stop being a thing because physical collections are awesome. Anyway sorry for the long comment. I just have been EXACTLY in your point of view so thought the reasons that swayed me toward digital might be enlightening, like they were for me.
I think Uncharted is a stretch. I loved Uncharted but it's done. Maybe bring a spin off next gen some time but honestly I don't even care for that. Naughty Dog is ready to move on and grow as a developer. Last of Us is the perfect example of how well they can do with a new story and a new gameplay style.
Some people brought up some good points about young Sully, but honestly I'd way rather have a game about a young Joel. Show the story of him losing his mind after he lost his daughter, having to adapt to the changing world. There is so much story there. It could pick up right after he loses his daughter, show the things he did to survive that left his brother so haunted and the falling out he had with his brother when he went off with the Fire Flies, show him killing innocent people for supplies as was referenced when Eli asked him how he knew it was a trap when the bandit in the road tried waving them down for help, show the favor he did for Bill that made Bill owe him so big.. I want to play as young, crazed, merciless Joel doing way more effed up things than he did in the first game haha!
@Th3solution Leaks suggest a March release date, and yea they are just testing for bugs at this point probably. Maybe throwing in last minute ideas to make things look nicer or run better in certain areas.
@ztpayne7 Point taken and very good points at that. Don't get me wrong, I saw the limitations immediately but they are no more an issue than the limitations of the Move Controllers (or DS4 even). With Aim one handed weapons feel weird and melee weapons would probably have to just be used with the trigger so anyone about to play as a tank wouldn't want to use the Aim, but then with Move two handed weapons would feel weird and you don't have as comfortable of directional controls, having to point your indominant hand around to walk different directions.
In Skyrim you can't walk backward while dual casting a destruction spell forward as you back step enemies, but that didn't stop Bethesda from giving us the option to use those controllers. Having to squeeze a trigger to swing a bat would be a minor inconvenience to prevent Bethesda Game Studios from taking advantage of the opportunity to utilize and familiarize themselves with the Aim controller, especially considering how much of a minority of gamers probably melee when they have sufficient ammo.
As for using one handed weapons with Aim or using two handed weapons with Move, at the end of the day gamers know there is no one size fits all option. I would be fine using a one handed gun with the Aim like I do in Doom, and I'd be fine using a two handed gun with the Move. I think the main factors gamers will consider when selecting how to play will be if they want to melee and grab items, or if they want to feel like they are shooting two handed weapons and walk around more intuitively.
At the end of the day so many gamers will want to use ranged weapons with the Aim controller and I believe Bethesda knows that. Two handed ranged weapons are the strongest weapons in the game so once you start finding better guns most gamers are probably using assault rifles, shotguns, SMG's, sniper rifles, rail guns, gauss rifles, launchers, etc. For the occasional gamer that want to run around and go ham with melee weapons, they would just use the Move controllers anyway so Aim wouldn't hurt them. Everyone would just use the controller best suited to how they were about to play.
You could be absolutely right but based on Bethesda's recent trend of getting mixed in with every platform (lately Mobile, VR and Switch) I expect them to take that same attitude toward control options. Obviously Aim would have been ridiculous in Skyrim, save the cross bow, but I think it is well beyond practical enough for Fallout and that Bethesda will do what they do and get their games out to as many gamers in as many ways as possible.
@ztpayne7 I think Bethesda Game Studios would take advantage of the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the PS Aim controller. I wold be surprised if the VR rifle isn't used in Fallout.

Re: Sony Data Shows Digital Sales Continue to Grow on PS4
Re: Sony Data Shows Digital Sales Continue to Grow on PS4
Re: Sony Is Creating a New Game Development Team in San Diego
Re: God of War Won't Have a Season Pass
@Th3solution Leaks suggest a March release date, and yea they are just testing for bugs at this point probably. Maybe throwing in last minute ideas to make things look nicer or run better in certain areas.

Re: There's Still Hope for Fallout 4 on PlayStation VR
Re: There's Still Hope for Fallout 4 on PlayStation VR
@ztpayne7 I think Bethesda Game Studios would take advantage of the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the PS Aim controller. I wold be surprised if the VR rifle isn't used in Fallout.
