We know that God of War is breaking sales records, becoming the fastest selling PS4 exclusive with over 5 million copies shifted in its first month, but it's also performing extremely well on YouTube. The stellar PS4 exclusive won't be the first game on the video website to achieve 1 billion total views, but it's shaping up to be the fastest to reach that milestone.
Data analyst website Matchmade has run the numbers, and God of War accrued 728 million views in April. This makes the title the third most viewed game on YouTube, behind the ever-popular Minecraft and current leader Fortnite. Epic's shooter reached 1 billion views in five months to become the fastest game in YouTube's history to do so, and if God of War can maintain its momentum, it'll reach the milestone by June/July, comfortably taking the record -- very impressive for a single player game with a hefty story aspect.

i did watch some gameplay from the ratbrad as he tends to play on ps4 most of the time.
i avoid pc/xbox players playing a ps4 exclusive because they always seems "fake" to me. not realy intrested but acting exited for the views.
oh and never read the comments. there is only so much of "this should have been on pc/xbox and bad graphics" whenever an exclusive is being played comments you can handle.
@LaNooch1978
it says anything god of war related so gameplay,trailers reviews etc.
@LaNooch1978 That's what I wanted to know. Are we talking official trailers, reviews, let's plays, or anything about GoW including rumours, leaks or whatever.
Still a lot though. In the future nobody will play games except the devs, the rest of us will just watch the let's plays on YT.
But that's not possible! People don't care about single player games anymore!
it's people looking up clips of how to defeat the muspelheim trials and the queen v, or where to find the hundreds of collectables
God of youtube.word up son
Game of the Year no contest
I’m still creeping through it, really trying to stretch it out. No idea how long I’ve been on it, but it must be way past the 35 hours they said it would last. Amazing game.
That’s really imprpresivr for a story single player game like this - simply becjzse I can’t think of nearly as many reasons to watch them on YouTube as stuff like Fortnite, Destiny, or Minecraft.
Why can’t Nintendo seem to grasp the marketing brilliance of YouTube.
That's a lot of BOY
@GKO900 Game of the generation
Well, if those 1 billion people actually bought the game, maybe it would've sold better. Now it's a big flop, thanks YouTube.
@Boxmonkey They even removed people's reactions to the Pokemon trailer from earlier this week lol.
@Octane this is a joke/sarcasm i assume?
@GKO900 The only main competition I can think of right now, would be Smash Bros. (which while likely to be great, I can't imagine taking the GOTY), Kingdom Hearts 3 (if it comes out), and Spider-Man (which still needs to prove it's a 10/10 as opposed to an 8/10).
But you're not wrong. These 1st 5 months, I would say it's the indisputable champion. Haven't played Yakuza 6 or Ni No Kuni 2 thus far...But a GOTY should do something special, and God of War is definitely that.
Detroit was a masterpiece as well, but it'd be tough giving it the edge over God of War being that it's (and I hate saying this) more of a game. I look forward to other games trying to take Kratos' crown within these next 6-7 months.
@drd7of14 I feel that the three games you mentioned are more ''safe'' than GOW. You kinda know what to expect of them, and while that's not a bad thing, I think that GOW deserves some credit for upping its game. Spider-Man looks solid too, but it needs something more I think. I hope the quality of the quests and campaign are great, movement looks brilliant, that's for sure!
Single-player games are here to stay and God of War is a masterpiece, game of the generation.
Word up son.
Queen Valkyrie playthroughs. Not that I have looked or anything.
@Octane lol a billion views, not people. A billion people would be pretty insane
@KleebanKliban Yeah, that's true considering there's only 7 million people in the world lol.
Kratos has been one of the PlayStation icons since the original God of War so it isn't too surprising to see what a smash hit this new game has been. Proof not to give up on something that still has potential just because of one misstep.
I think it will be game of year. Far Cry was good but the same formula as always.
I have completed the main game and I'm collecting legendary armour now and battling the Valkyries.
@Octane Yeah, that was kinda what I was getting at with it. But I wouldn't knock them out entirely either. God of War did some incredible stuff, with top of the line quality. I'd be curious to see if anyone can top them this year in that front. But Game of the Year is also about what people enjoyed most throughout the year, along with what is clearly "The Best". 10/10 don't always win GOTY...Though there's certainly crossover, of course.
I just can't write off things entirely I haven't played. But right now, God of War is the Rocky Balboa of 2018. Just gotta wait to see who's gonna be the Creed.
