XGP is that it’s clearly Microsoft’s attempt at trying to bleed out Sony by not going head to head but instead offer it as a service.
The problem is that XGP is by Microsoft’s admission not profitable (and how could it). 3rd party publishers wouldn’t join XGP if it was less lucrative for them, would they? Just like Netflix did, Microsoft will significantly increase their pricing once they feel their subs are reaching a peak. The “real” price of XGP is probably around $20-25.
But Sony has to come with some sort of countermove. Not sure a full on GamePass of their own is the right move though.
I know everyone raves about XGP, but from recent reports, it’s not profitable for Microsoft at current pricing. They are buying market share, and honestly quite happy that Sony is feeling confident enough to stay out of that.
But yeah, PS Now could certainly be a lot better. It needs PS5 games added, more platforms (mobile and macOS).
Personally, I’d like to see them sort of merge it with Remote Play. Still have a bunch of games included, but also allow access to all games you’ve bought for your PS4/PS5.
@Paranoimia yeah. I really love that when you use the DualSense with an iOS game or macOS Apple Arcade game, it swaps to use the symbols instead of ABXY. Should be standard for Steam as well.
@FX102A "Also “3 to 4”? More like 1 game with 3 to 4 different skins."
Honestly, that reeks of judging the books by the cover.
Look at their three major titles last year: Watch Dogs: Legion, Immortals Fenyx Rising and Assassin's Creed Valhalla.
Yeah, they are open world action games, but that's really were the similarities end.
Immortals have more common ground with Breath of the Wild than it has with AC: Valhalla. I also thought it was a AC reskinned as a Greek mythology adventure, but it is a very different game, from how combat works to a strong focus on puzzles.
And Watch Dogs, well, it has a completely different focus as well from the other two.

Re: Feature: What Discord Integration Could Mean for PS5, PS4
This is a brilliant move by Sony. Discord "the" social platform for gaming.
Re: PS Now March 2021 Update Adds inFAMOUS, World War Z, and More
@Milktastrophe it is a bit weird, but all focus from Sony right now seems to be on PS+
Re: Random: The Web Is Freaking Out Over a Tiny PS5 Controller Detail
You could really tell from the show that they love their symbols, as they should. Always thought they made so much more sense than ABXY.
Re: Final Fantasy VII Remake Has Over 2000 Anime-Style Grunts and Sighs in Its Main Story
I don't know, sure there's a lot of grunts, but I really like them. Maybe it's because I'm so used to them from anime.
Re: This PS5 Mock-Up Is Inspired By the DualSense Controller, and It's Gorgeous
Really dig the design of this mockup:

Unique look and in line with the controller.
Re: PlayStation Now Coming to More European Countries This Year, Beta Test Arrives in February
What puzzles me is that they have a Mac client for RemotePlay, but not PlayStation Now.
