Sony has always talked about how success in one company's playing field will only strengthen and help the other companies as well. Kind of like how Nintendo usually ropes in younger games and then Sony gets then afterwards before eventually trailing back to Nintendo once they have kids of their own (and to play their own copies of Pokemon ). If it weren't for the success of either company, the others would struggle to find an audience. There is a limit to it though where you have the console war fanboys who take it to a whole other level so success can result in the degradation of another brand.
@JaxonH You bring up a great point, it's the library that sells the Vita short. The hardware is phenomenal and I thought that OLED looked amazing but when all you have is, like you listed, a lot of ports, or mediocre NIS games (although I'm a fan of some like Trinity Universe and Disgaea), it doesn't really make much of an impression. Even with lacking visuals, 3DS killed it. I'm sure if I kept my Vita for longer, I probably could have found something to play, but I can't just settle for something like that. Besides, a lot of the games end up on PS4 anyways!
And sales numbers only matter when your device is selling well. Everyone knows that! Although, to be fair, the Vita had a decent resurgence in Japan for a while... for what it's worth
@SonyInfinity I kind of disagree in some capacity. I think it's really only risk-taking if they are the only ones pioneering the tech. There are other VR devices out there, so I think it's leaving something to be desired. Oculus and even the HoloLens to some extent are all treading the same waters. They all seem to be treading the same waters at the same time nonetheless though
When it comes to software, I hope this means they are going to continue to take risks with their software coming up. The last few years have come across as iterative. With the likes of No Man's Sky, Horizon and a few others up ahead, it really does feel like PS will start to put more unique, risk-taking experiences in our console
@sinalefa I agree about Splatoon. One of the few truly unique games I played this year.
@Palsy Pot calling the kettle black, now. How mature of you. You have not had anything to contribute to ANYTHING I've said in any of my earlier posts. People like @sub12 and @azikira I can respect because they can actually respond to what I said with their own informed opinion and not flip out and throw out insults. You? Nope.
I think its a bit of a tall order, but I'd kill to see the entirety of Xenosaga on the PS4. I own two of the discs but I refuse to pay 150 bucks for the third one. Also, Tales of rebirth!
@Palsy Once again with the name-calling. Are you literally incapable of rational thought? I wasn't aware that owning a Ps4, Ps3, Ps2, PS1, PSP, and at one point a freaking Vita was a casual player on Nintendo platforms. Look up my PSN ID dude, JVir. I've been a PS fan for over a decade.
@Palsy I cracked a joke and you all jump on my case. After you all flip the hell out, I explain why I prefer my 3DS and then I get called a troll. Man, you all are really insecure.
@Azikira Of course the 3DS wouldn't be able to handle some games. Pretty games don't always mean better games. I personally would take something like Etrian Mystery Dungeon or Monster Hunter 4 over Killzone or Freedom Wars. Like you said though, each system has its gems. It's just that even Sony gave up on the Vita. I think that says something
Wow. Nice response. I guess Vita owners don't have a sense of humor. The 3ds is by far the better handheld and the sales confirm it. There is a reason why Sony wont make any of their own game for it. I had to sell my Vita after 2 years of nothing but ports. But hey if you like ports and nothing but Hyper Dimension Neptunia, then be my guest. I'm a Sony fan as much as I am Nintendo, but the Vita is not even close to be as good.
Holy crap. The tone is way darker than any other Tales game. After Zestiria, I want something more along the lines of the Traditional style games like Xillia. Yes, I liked both Xillia 1 and 2. They were great games
Well... let's just say I'm completely decided on Playstation VR now. They did a succinct job of making me not want one. If Crazy Taxi with Zombies and Golf is all they have to offer, then I'm not sold. Plus it looked like there was significant delay on everything and that is a death knell to anyone who suffers from motion sickness.
FFVII disappointed in a couple ways. I don't like the ARPG focus they seem to be going for with the Remake. Granted, it looked like it could still retain some turn-based elements since none of the enemies were attacking at the same time as Cloud/Barret so it could still be so, but I wanted classic style, not KH. If it still plays out more like XIII, then I'll be on board. And FFVII (PS1) for the PS4 that was released irritated me due to the cheats and how they were implemented.
Everything else kinda didn't really disappoint, nor did it really excite me. Ni No Kuni was one of the biggest disappointments of last gen so the sequel did little to nothing for me.
I really REALLY hate this. Being able to become invincible at the touch of a button seems like the wrong route to go. I accidentally clicked R3 and next thing I know, my HP wouldn't go down and I had unlimited Limit Breaks for like... the entire Reactor intro. Had no idea what was going on. I like the 3x speed but the others are a shameful addition. I honestly can't imagine why people would intentionally take any semblance of challenge out of the game.
At the very least, they should disable any trophies if you use a cheat. It's not really a challenge to beat Diamond, Ruby or Emerald if they can't kill you
I really REALLY dislike how they only gave away the first episode. It's just to get you hooked and make you buy the others. Telltale games have been allowing us to download the first episode of most of their series for free for a while now.
I personally found myself immensely disappointed with nearly all of the selections. Plus, Sony completely backed out on the "Vote to Play" feature that they touted after only one month. Pretty much every decent game on the lists, I already owned. Transistor, Rocket League and Dragon Fin Soup are probably the only games I spend any sizable amount of time on. They really need to stop giving us buggy crap piles of games like Tower of Guns.
I know some people will really disagree, but they probably should stop with PS3 games at this point so they can provide more to PS4 and Vita (even though I no longer own my Vita) users. Hell, start doing PS2 Classics for PS+. I'd accept that, ESPECIALLY if they add in trophy support.
I guess I've been working too much to notice any outages. I did have problems accessing the web PSN store and purchasing Transformers, but I usually have problems with that.
@Cron_13 It happens LITERALLY every year without fail. It will happen again this year. They can't help if 30 million+ people all try to get on at the exact same time. Not many places can handle that kind of traffic.
My hope is that it would be open to the public since Duscae was hidden behind the FF-Type 0 disc and they blocked share play. They really need to get this game out though. If it slips from 2016, it's gonna be a bad sign.
King's Quest looks fun. I usually end up liking point and click adventure games. However, combined with Gauntlet (which isn't very good), it's a weak month.
I was actually quite irritated that there was VERY little resolution with the overall story arc. Then, I remembered that this is Game of Thrones, and realized it's par for the course to take 3 seasons to resolve any minor plot point
@vagineer1 I agree with these. I have never played them and I really would like to. Same goes with Xenosaga. I own the first episode but the second two are not cheap or easy to find.
Hopefully they fix their game engine and release their episodes more frequently. The bugs are atrocious in every episode to the point that every time I play one, the whole game crashes or is simply a lag-fest and I fail even basic actions. It would also be nice to see an episode release more than once every 2 months. I often forget what happened the previous episode, or even forget about the series as a whole. Wasn't the original Walking Dead released like... every 2 weeks or something? Isn't the Minecraft one released pretty quickly as well? Then why the hell did they slow down so much with TWD S2, Wolf Among Us, Game of Thrones and Tales from the Borderlands? Is it just a matter of taking on too many projects at once?
@BladeRider In Dissidia, it seemed like a bit of just "I don't care" Cloud instead of emo-AC Cloud. There wasn't really much of cocky Cloud like we were used to. It's weird because Advent Children is what they've been pulling from for his attitude. That's fine and all in the context of the movie (although Advent Children Complete nearly completely changed that), but applying that Geostigma-influenced mindset to FFVII Cloud doesn't make sense.
I've had minor bugs pepper my quest thus far. Had quest NPC not respond to me until I've reloaded my save. I've had dialogue subtitles fail to keep up with anything that is being said. I've also had companions get stuck on another floor (or fail to come with me to another area completely), yet still somehow affect the current floor I'm on. Also, when it comes to companions, they like to get me stuck. I've had them sprint up to me and somehow push me into walls and areas you can't normally get to. Normally requires a reload if you can't quick travel. It's not been gamebreaking like Fallout 3's memory leak issue but it's still souring my experience. Still enjoying the game overall though.
Are the voice overs still Japanese only? It's one of the reasons I had a hard time play Hollow Fragment. If I had watched the anime in Japanese, it wouldn't have bothered me, but I watched the dub so the Japanese voices are way out of place.
"Why hasn't Dissidia Final Fantasy been announced for the PlayStation 4 yet?"
I've been wondering this for a long while. However, as is the case with nearly all JPN arcade fighters, it ends up coming around after a year or so. Plus, both Dissidia and Duodecim were great and sold incredibly well in the West so I'd find it quite difficult to NOT be able to justify the localization and porting.
I've been playing the PS+ games so far. Dragon Fin Soup has the makings of an awesome Mystery Dungeon game if they'd just patch the UI issues and massive amounts of bugs. Also got Yo-Kai Watch to play until Tuesday when Fallout comes out.
If it's about $150-200, I'm in. I will not buy a peripheral that may or may not be supported in 6 months for the price of a console. I look at the PS Eye and PS Move as a perfect example. Not a whole lot of compelling support. And especially with it being a completely optional thing, it's going to be hard to convince developers to make a game specifically for it for such a small install base. Part of me really wishes it was it's own standalone thing instead of being introduced into a console cycle two years+ in

As much as I would love to see something regarding Tales of Berseria (NA confirmation plz!), I highly doubt that the comment they left applies to it.
