Re: Talking Point: Is PlayStation Right in Saying PC Isn't a 'Major Risk' to Console Business?

Fishmasterflex96

@Old-Red while this is a point of contention for a very small group of people, I’m also in this camp. Physical games are the main reason why I am a console gamer and own all 3. Once physical games stop being made I’m all pc. Also this point is only amplified if the ps6 costs $700. At that point I’m ready to say f u c k you to Sony. Will get their games eventually

Re: Talking Point: Is PlayStation Right in Saying PC Isn't a 'Major Risk' to Console Business?

Fishmasterflex96

Multifaceted thing here. 1st party games going to PC can offer incredible revenue and that’s certainly a good thing with how expensive games have become, especially the “Sony game” type. But the delayed release does take away a lot of the excitement that the initial release date has. For Sony it’s going to come down to how much more they want on return from their exclusives. Reality is that most people are already in the camp they are in and aren’t switching so going day and date will result in bigger launch numbers and more sales. Will say that if the PS6 is $700 then that by itself will lead to a lot of people switching to pc. PC gaming is getting more popular and cheaper, especially with the intel gpu’s being super cheap and the new RTX cards having insane lower teir options.

Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Comes Out Swinging, Already EA's Biggest Single Player Game on Steam

Fishmasterflex96

Seems like these are good numbers. Think people using other games as comparisons are overlooking some factors going against Veilguard. DD2 was more in the Elden Ring route where the world is the main draw and not the story, which is the case for Veilguard. Considering the reviews are good sitting around a 80-85 seems like the numbers line up. Want this game to do well so EA continues to make single player games which overall they have actually been doing a good job with in recent years.

Re: Sony Wanted PS5 Exclusivity for Crimson Desert, But Dev Reportedly Declined

Fishmasterflex96

@Jay767 I mainly said not launching on PC day and date hurt sales. With how good both of those games are and how well reviewed they are they would have done very well on PC. Launching later of any platform is going to hamper its sales potential. Yea Xbox would have probably not helped too much but with how similar all the platforms are if you make a game for 2 of the 3 might as well make it for the third one, especially if you are a 3rd party. Also not saying Sony didn’t give them a good deal, just that Square’s expectations of the deal were clearly not meant and that they would have been better off being fully multiplat.

Re: Sony Wanted PS5 Exclusivity for Crimson Desert, But Dev Reportedly Declined

Fishmasterflex96

@Jay767 not saying it’s Sony’s Fault. Saying the exclusivity deals aren’t doing enough to make Square the money they are expecting from both 16 and Rebirth and that they would have been better off being fully multiplatform releases. Then I used the success that Capcom, Sega/Atlus, and Fromsoftware as examples of great success that publishers/developers can find by being fully multiplatform, especially with how expensive game development has gotten. And yes Bandai is having issues but you still are better off being on everything and having the chance of making more money from all platforms vs only being on one. Mainly not being on pc.

Re: Sony Wanted PS5 Exclusivity for Crimson Desert, But Dev Reportedly Declined

Fishmasterflex96

Makes sense. Not clear if it would be a Final fantasy/silent hill 3rd party deal or a 2nd party stellar blade deal but timed exclusivity is fading away. Square failing to consistently hit sales expectations vs the other major 3rd party Japanese publishers being fully multiplatform and finding all sorts of success with the likes of Sega/Atlus, Capcom, Fromsoftware, etc. for sure AAA 3rd party games need to be on PS5 and PC day and date if you are going to two 2 platforms you might as well do Xbox since all are x86 based. Could see Sony still getting deals like this for newer ip and studios like Shift Up for Stellar Blade or questionable returns like Bloober Team and Silent Hill 2, but established teams don’t really have an incentive. Pearl Abyss is huge with Black Desert and owning CCP and Eve, they don’t need Sony to publish it.

Re: Silent Hill 2 (PS5) - The Horror Great Remains So in This Excellent Remake

Fishmasterflex96

@Oram77 yes that’s that other main example I was thinking off but the reason I would say Silent Hill 2 is the bigger surprise is cause Shift Up didn’t have any precedence so Stellar Blade was an unknown quantity so it could have went either way. All this opposite Bloober team which is a known team, known for bad to mediocre horror games. So for a bad team like Bloober team who had bad trailers for SH2 remake to actually deliver and make a great game I would argue is a bigger surprise.

Re: Silent Hill 2 (PS5) - The Horror Great Remains So in This Excellent Remake

Fishmasterflex96

Would say this is the best surprise of the year. So often we see games and studios miss the mark and make not bad games but disappointing games. It’s not often we see a studio that’s known overall for mediocre games graduate to that next level to make something truly great. With how light this year has been for games that would fall under “action/adventure” could see SH2 actually having a great chance at winning it.

Re: Star Wars Outlaws' Rescue Roadmap Provides a Snapshot of Modern PS5 Gaming

Fishmasterflex96

This is sad cause Massive is a good team capable of making great games. Having the lead of division 2 gave me a lot of hope for this game and it was very sad to see how poor this game did at launch. Having busted stealth and crappy feeling shooting is nuts with how good division is. At the very least Ubisoft is unbeaten with post game updates so not worried on that note but was expecting way more out of them. It’s going to be ***** nuts too see a very likely scenario where warhammer 40k game is going to chart higher then a Star Wars game.

Re: State of Play Confirmed for Tomorrow, 20+ PS5, PSVR2 Games Included

Fishmasterflex96

Really hope for first party to be more then just more unnecessary remakes and remasters. Obviously it’s not going to be a blowout but would be nice to see a Death Stranding 2 release date for earlyish next year and maybe a Fairgames or Marathon trailer if either of them are in ok shape. Would be very smart to tease Ghost 2 or reveal what firesprite is working on, at least give the fans something else that’s first party single player to chew on.

Re: Dev Behind PS5, PC Flop Concord Could Close as Director Steps Down

Fishmasterflex96

@LogicStrikesAgain think it was just a mixture of things adding up to a total ***** storm. The game itself was good, but it was one of the most trend chasing games in recent years. On top of it you have it coming from Sony which has been very quiet and hasn’t shown off anything new from their 1st party teams for a while, on top of a lot of other hero shooters close to launching that also play good but are free, on top of it having bad character design and its biggest “innovation” being weekly cutscenes which no one gives a ***** about.
