@Anthony_Daniels literally every other major Japanese 3rd party publisher sales would show otherwise. Xbox is whatever but PC absolutely makes a difference
@BIG3 problem is that releasing only on one system isn’t enough to cover the dev cost and the exclusivity deal isn’t enough to offset the dev cost. If the games are going to continue to be expensive they need to go full multiplat.
@DonJorginho sega/atlus seems to be finding great success launching day and date on pc. It’s clear and obvious Square’s strategy of doing console exclusivity at launch isn’t working with how much they are expecting to make. Infinite wealth has a record of 46,000 and p3 reload has a record of 36,000. I love both of those games but they are smaller ip then FF. So if the next major FF launches day and date on pc and is as good as the last 3 major FF games they are going to find major success. It’s either they need to release games on more platforms or make cheaper budgeted games.
PS fanboys won’t like to admit it but for 3rd party games they need to launch on all platforms (mainly pc). Looking at every other major AAA 3rd party Japanese publisher and they are all doing way better and it’s no coincidence that they all have a renewed focus on launching everywhere. Do Xbox’s releases really help, no probably not, but if they are doing a pc port anyways why not take the extra time to also do a Xbox port and have the chance at eventually getting a game pass deal. It’s no coincidence that Capcom, Sega/Atlus, Brandi Namco, Fromsoftware are all hitting new success records cause of increasing where they release games.
@DonJorginho the reason why the peak numbers are low is because they didn’t launch day and date and lost out on the launch hype. Go look at LAD infinite wealth’s numbers and p3 reload numbers. Launching day and date on all platforms help, mainly PC.
@Godot25 that’s what I’m saying. Like how do you ***** this up??? Like the name of the studio behind the game is literally the name of the engine lol 😂
lol it’s funny how sharkmob made a battle royle and then went and said let’s ride trends again and make an extraction shooter. This game is probably gonna fail hard lol.
@dark_knightmare2 yes concord plays great but it doesn’t do anything to truly set itself apart from other similar games that are free to play. I whole heartedly agree it plays great but that by itself isn’t enough in todays market.
@Killionaire think the main thing this games MP has going for it is that it’s unique and their isn’t any other type of MP like this on the market nowadays. It has a special “gimmick” that helps it set itself apart
@dark_knightmare2 I compare the two cause in terms of PvP games they offer two different types of PvP games. Space Marine 2 has a specific hook that sets its apart from any other PvP game. Which is the exact opposite of concord which doesn’t have anything special to itself that hasn’t been done by numerous other games that are free vs being $40. There’s also the point that Concord should have probably added a single player campaign and a pve mode and could have charge $70. Space marine 2 is a very content rich package with a unique angle which concord doesn’t have.
Really interested to see the PvP mode. Think it’s gonna have an interesting enough premise where it’s gonna do well. It’s gonna be interesting seeing this game probably do very well vs a game like Concord which doesn’t really have anything interesting about it.
Very unfortunate considering Final Shape did very well critically and it seemed commercially. It is the reality of being owned by a larger corporation. They still probably will be fine once they get into this new structure.
@Sequel the vast majority of people think the game isn’t bad, it’s just that it doesn’t do anything special to set it apart from other competitors. On top of it charging $40 for it is a very bad look.
@Oram77 some of the criticisms are fair. The live service genres are saturated and the vast majority of new life service games fail and seeing PlayStation in particular invest so much into them without having a clear roadmap for their core single player games with what’s coming added up to a lot of negative feelings.
@themightyant would say it’s fair considering this is a PlayStation focused site and that the biggest point against concord is that it’s $40 vs rivals which is free to play. They aren’t being malicious with it, they are just stating factual numbers and good inferences on how Concord is gonna go if things don’t change with it.
@Oram77 the only thing that game could have going for it is how much of an extraction shooter it is and what it does unique. That’s one of the few genres of mp shooter that is still open for new comers that can break on through. Yes you have mainstays like hunt and vigor on console but none of those are juggernauts. Tarkov isn’t on console. Hell even COD wasn’t able to crack that genre. Think that game stands a better chance then concord.
@nyr2k2 completely agree that it’s failure was clear. They need to do a better job of making more unique live service games. Know it’s a lot harder said then done but they need to do a better job of trying to figure out what games will work. They are capable of it and Helldivers proves it. It’s a hard line between trying to find a game that has the capacity of being a hit but is also niche enough to separate itself from the competition.
@UltimateOtaku91 they have the experience and the talent that made the game lol 😂. Come on man don’t be so dense. The creative talent is the most important thing in this industry. Helldivers as an ip wasn’t worth ***** until Arrowhead made it what it is. In the turbulent times this industry is in it’s the smart bet to bet on yourselves vs selling to a large corporation that doesn’t have the best track record with Live service.
@nyr2k2 this is also the wrong mindset to have. Them investing into live services isn’t a bad thing, but they need to be smart about it. Helldivers 2 was a good bet. Concord on the other hand was a bad trend riding bet and seems to be a bad bet.
This is sad but not surprising. The game does play really ***** good. But that’s not enough in this genre nowadays. This game doesn’t do anything different or special compared to other similar games. And when a game doesn’t stand out and charges $40 for it, it’s not gonna succeed.
@UltimateOtaku91 they haven’t acquired Arrowhead cause why the ***** would arrowhead sell? They have damn near universal good will and can get deals with any publisher they want. Vs being bought by a large corporation that is in a rough situation cause of the economy and could shut you down.
Reality is that it’s a solid game that does play well, but it is being priced for failure. Also while it plays good and is fun it doesn’t do enough to stand out from other similar games that are free.
@UltimateOtaku91 Yes there was a big push against Sony’s live service push, rightfully so with how live service games have been over the last 2 ish years. But the main point is more so that most of the complaints with concord are about the game itself. It hasn’t set itself apart from the competition at all and is being set up for major failure. Their live service games need to be great to stand apart from the competitor's. Helldivers 2 success proves this.
@UltimateOtaku91 you have your head up your ass if you think people are making fun of concord just cause it’s a multiplayer game. It’s a decent game that hasn’t set itself apart at all from other similar games.you are also completely missing the point that those other games are established and not a brand new ip.
@Bionic-Spencer the two are not directly connected. The reality is that naughty dog is not suited to make a fully fledged live service game. Bad things happen when single player focused teams make live service games. It’s better that it got canned.
It’s fine, idk about great. Some characters feel good to play but others just seem off. Clear that this is more in the vein of Halo but in terms of controls it feels way to stiff vs say halo infinite. It has potential but it’s gonna get eaten alive when looking at other PvP shooters.
Capcom deserves credit for this one. They didn’t force Dino crisis into a live service game, they tried to make a new ip. With all the success they have been having from their other games love to see new IPs at least be attempted.
@Jay767 the apprehension is warranted. Live service games are very hit or miss and most of the time they fail big time and numerous gamers are tired are live service games. Obviously the final verdict is gonna happen when the game comes out but this game has an up hill battle.
@Titntin Sony doesn’t even deserve that lol they literally doing the bare minimum in todays shooter market. It was expected that they would only do cosmetics, especially considering the game is $40.
This is giving “praise us for doing something we should be doing anyway” energy. This is literally the industry standard for 99% of PvP shooters. Of course it was gonna only be cosmetics, especially with it costing $40 out of the gate. They shouldn’t be praise for doing the bare ***** minimum
Glad it’s at least previewing well enough. It needs all the help it can get to find any kind of success. The PvP shooter genre is such a tough space and you need to have the special stuff to succeed in it. I’m not entirely against the $40 price tag if the cosmetics are cheap and generous with free stuff. But so far this game is just lacking that it factor to truly set it apart. Also find the focus on narrative to be somewhat strange when it’s a straight PvP shooter? Why not make it $70 and have it have a good campaign, could go a long way.
This is solid for this game. Yes it got marketing support from Sony but this is still a new ip from a damn mobile team that’s only being sold on a single platform. On top of this game being a little more limited in its reach cause of the very sexual nature of the game. If I where shift up I’d be happy, especially if the budget for this game was on the more reasonable end of things.
