Re: 64% of PS5 Players Are Glad Mafia: The Old Country Isn't Open World

DarthOreo

@FinneasGH no. If someone has a good idea and sound mechanics in an interesting world they shouldn’t just cede open world games to the GTA folks. No way in hell.

There’s nothing wrong with open world titles. If they’re done well I prefer them by a wide margin. How stupid would it be if it was the sole province of grand theft auto. Which shock of shocks….some people didn’t enjoy.

Re: Diablo 4's Berserk Crossover DLC Costs an Insane $150

DarthOreo

So. What. Companies charge what they want. If it’s not a necessity, what do you care? If you want it fervently enough, you’ll budget for it. If you don’t, you won’t. Either way it doesn’t hurt you. But people want to be offended that a studio is charging absurd prices for something absolutely NO ONE needs. Let ‘em.

Re: Expedition 33's Outstanding Critical Reception Receives Recognition from French President

@Simong85 way to go dark with this. The devs have, in fact, reacted. And the fact is that this sort of mention will thrill them, regardless of their personal politics, because it puts the title in front of a lot of people.

People on instagram who’d never heard of this game will be a lot more likely to at least look it up now, no matter how they feel about Macron.

This is nothing but good news for these guys.

Re: Xbox Now Selling PS5 Games for $80, Joins Switch 2 in Price Increase

DarthOreo

Whatever. Dinner out with my wife and son runs $50 with tip if we hit an actual restaurant. Going to a matinee movie costs $30 for two of us with sodas. I buy a handful of full price games a year. They give me way more hours of entertainment than going to a movie. Hell, I’ve got 300+ hours in my favorites. If a game interests me enough I’ll buy it.

Re: Preview: Arc Raiders Could Be the Definitive Extraction Shooter on PS5

DarthOreo

I can’t stand extraction shooters. And yea, the problem is with me. But I feel like an ass killing another player, taking loot he spent a chunk of time gathering (along with his kit). And I resent when it happens to me. Shoot people in Battlefield or CoD, fine. But this genre really feels geared towards getting a kick out of screwing over others. Watching streams just reinforces that impression.

I dipped my toe in it. Hated it (win or lose). Quit.

Re: Video: PS5 Pro vs PS5 - Assassin's Creed Shadows Stuns on Sony's Hardware

DarthOreo

It’ll always happen. Article will show Pro is a legit upgrade. People who own one will dare to say they’re liking what they bought….then the super savvy naysayer pops up to tell you how any benefit is minimal and then proceed to lay on the snark.

I don’t get where people got the belief that, when others are happy or content, someone was waiting for them to pop up and say why they don’t like it and will never get one. Sure, you’re free to say what you want. But why do you get a kick out of trying to tell others they’re wasting money just because you opted out?

Re: These 9+ New PS5, PS4 Games Are Coming Out Next Week (17th-23rd March)

DarthOreo

@WildFireV6 whatever. “Learn their lesson?” I like the Assassins games. Others like them. But it’s always refreshing when others log online to wish failure on franchises they don’t want to play, comfy in the knowledge others are having fun “wrong.” If it ain’t for you, that’s fine. There are genres I don’t like. But I don’t think others need to learn a lesson based on what I do or don’t want to play.

Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Cinematic Trailer Sets Scene for Sengoku Action

DarthOreo

@Dragon83 I’m looking forward to it. And I so wish gamers would drop this “historically accurate” crap…or the vapid notion that there will EVER be a “realistic” first person shooter.

There is no realistic video game. There is no truly accurate video game. Because that’s the ffing point. They’re games. And we’re sitting in front of a screen looking for entertainment.

Realistic shooter conversations are beyond stupid. No drill instructor ever said “but if you’re shot, don’t worry. Just use that bandage in your quick equip slot and you’ll be fine. Holy *****, you’re dehydrated? Drink that bottle of water and your % will shoot back up in seconds.”

Re: Rise of the Ronin Would Not Have Been Made Without Sony

DarthOreo

@Oram77 the game is fine. And features an interesting setting (1800s Japan interacting with Western powers).

World is not dull or repetitive. Those statements are the same tired arguments people throw out because they’re tired of open world games…so everyone should be.
