I had buyers remorse when getting a PS5 near-launch after playing through Astro's Playroom and Demon's Souls (both games that I loved, but the new games selection felt dry after that), and while it does have a solid exclusive, these days I mainly keep it around because of my PS4/5 Yakuza/Like a Dragon shelf. If I didn't have that, I likely would have sold it by now, especially with several of the previous exlusives playable on PC now. It will without a doubt be my last PlayStation console.
I just completed a binge of God of War 1, Chains, Ghost, Ascension, 2, and 3. Every game still holds up (minus Ascension's campaign and combat), and it's sad there's no good way to play the bulk of these without a PS3.
I'm surprised Rocksteady is still a studio if I'm being honest 🤔 Seems these days a game company is on the chopping block for much less!
@graymamba For all of its faults, I love the humor, and I think the gameplay is fine (albeit a bit bland at times). And for what it's worth, my wife (a huge DC fan) was never a big fan of third person shooters until she played this, so that's worth something. I also give them props for making the game playable offline, warts and all.
@1UP-HUSKY I didn't think I could hate Cosmo Canyon. The theme is still so catchy, but the altered layout was tiresome, Bugenhagen acts like someone's out-of-touch grandparent that lets slip one too many slurs, and the entire place essentially being run by a cult really left a bad taste in my mouth.
I'd say Morrowind, but it would practically need a ground-up remake to appeal to modern Skyrim-based fans. I voted New Vegas because that game needs a port that runs good with less bugs lol
Such a fun game. Voice acting is great, plot is bizarre and fascinating, and the whole experience is short and sweet. The combat increasing your speed and damage for avoiding damage and building a combo is extremely satisfying as well!
Crazy that graphics alone were enough for comments like "I'll buy the $150 edition! (on YT)" And we haven't even seen post-alpha gameplay. No wonder 5 sold like it did for three straight console generations.
For me, all they need to do is make traversal more interesting. I found Tsushima strangely stiff from the company that made Sly Cooper and inFamous, two game series with excellent platforming.
I was already buying new games very sparingly at 70 (MH Wilds being one of the few). At 80 I'll never buy day one again. That's fine, my backlog is immense.
To me, it's akin to the newer Star Wars film trilogy (and to note, I'm a huge FF7 fan and not a very big Star Wars fan). The first entry had some big highs and major lows, but overall filled me with excitement for what the series could do. The second entry ensured that hope is dead and buried. Skipping #3 (but I'll read a synopsis). The fact it was split into a trilogy was easy to stomach, the changes to the plot and pacing were not. Not intending to ruffle chocobo feathers here, it's just my opinion 🤷♂️
On a positive note, the OST is beyond amazing in Remake. When I heard the Jenova remix kick in, I got goosebumps!
At this point I'd almost rather see the game industry crash than continue to opt into these continued price hikes. I already have more than enough games to keep me entertained the remainder of my lifespan, and they are making it ever harder to crave new releases. As others have noted, these days I'll patiently wait for price cuts. My days of pre-ordering are long gone.
UX improvements on the way is great to hear! Hopefully I'll finally be able to disable the radial menu so I can properly control that camera while rummaging through items.
This is wild to see ported to Nintendo! Good for the patapon fans, frankly I wanted to beat in my own skull to the rhythm after 10 minutes of playing it. Maybe Locoroco will get ported next!
Good for them, they made the right call. Meanwhile I'm interested to see how this game turns out! Got a free copy with my new PC, and I haven't truly played an AC title since Black Flag 😅
The amount of denial in this comments section is insane 😆 Disc rot is a real thing, that's why it's been talked about since the 90s (they knew it would eventually be an issue). I've experienced it with a few old CDs and DVDs for sure, but not many. This is to spread awareness, not fear. Just take care of your discs and when possible, dump them to a PC for even longer preservation 😎
First I was on the fence because Nero voicing Dante and the limp biscuit soundtrack. But now that it's clearly creating its own canon I'm less onboard. The animation looks stellar for sure though...and the cameos are pretty random with the plant boss from 4 and essentially the rabbit butler design from the DMC3 manga 🤔
@get2sammyb DMC Devil May Cry played super well for sure! It was the dialogue and overall plot that was the weakest link lol
@sawaoyamanaka @Veritas7Ax There's a Culturescape interview with Langdon I highly suggest checking out. That whole antivax thing was blown way out of proportion by social media, he's actually way more chill (on that topic and just in general) then people make him out to be. Sounds more like Capcom didn't go back to him because they aren't using union VAs.
The biggest struggle so far is easily the UI. My hunting group and I just reached the endgame content/grind, and despite playing this for a week, we are still explaining to each other how to join quests, or seeing that a quest has been posted, link parties vs squads vs environment
linking (let alone where to find various settings, toggle analogue sticks behavior in menus, etc.). Amazing combat loop, but worst UI for the series thus far.
Most anticipated game of the year. I've played every console and handheld MH entry and so far I'm not disappointed at all. Hoping my fellow hunters are also having a blast 🍖😼
I'm not generally a fan of streamlining systems to the point of removing difficulty, but this seems like an over exaggeration. I'd argue World/Iceborne was fairly easy compared to its predecessors as well, but they still found ways (and monsters) to really crank up that difficulty over time.
I remember watching this project when it was created for PC players that didn't have an official MH title (in the West, anyways, as MH Frontier and I think Online hadn't died yet). Pretty neat on release but I couldn't get into the art style. Then MH World came to PC so...there went my interest.
Wish I was, but I spent too much to play MH Wilds on a new PC. I will buy this game some time this year though (probably after I finally beat Infinite Wealth)!
Adding free additional characters and bosses in updates over time would have been a compelling business model that would make me more excited to play. But paid DLC? Gross. Any enthusiasm for this one that I had left is pretty much gone now.
I'll definitely lean towards the stealth character with Tenchu being among my favorite series. Granted I don't expect it to get anywhere near scratching that itch. We'll see!
Sony, you can do the coolest thing right now. Ape Escape got a whole stage in Astro Bot, Snake versus Monkey is returning to Metal Gear Solid Delta...please. Grace us with a new Ape Escape 🥹
All they need to do is make another Outbreak, co-operative Mercenaries, or Raid Mode. All of those are a blast. Please Capcom, stop chasing aging trends...😓
@8bit4Life The one thing you'll have to detrain from your play style is wire bug recovery 😅 Returning to the World-like control scheme reminded me that ninja hunters only exist in Kamura...
Love this series, and I'm currently playing through Infinite Wealth, but sadly I may have to buy Pirate Yakuza after launch 😣 Thanks to MH Wilds, I'm already paying enough to upgrade my PC to play that on day one.
It's too bad, really. The stores I loved growing up were dead and gone a long time ago. Even while the GameStop locations themselves are still open (for now), and the walls are how I remember them, the actual game content is barren and overrun with obnoxious merchandise in its place (Funkos, anyone?) 😓
Infinite Wealth with a well-deserved Gold 😎 It got my vote since Ryu Ga Gotoku has yet to disappoint (Like a Dragon Gaiden had me tearing up when I beat it recently too)!
Cool I guess, but also why? The core of the experience is finding the inconsistencies yourself and adjusting accordingly. I love P.T. but I don't want to watch a film reproducing the exact events of P.T., because it was being in control and forcing myself to progress that made the experience equally enthralling and terrifying.
@colonelkilgore For what it's worth, my wife never plays third person shooters and managed to solo plat this game. It's definitely doable! A bit of a grind though from the looks of it (I'm still playing through the story).
@MrPeanutbutterz As someone who's been playing Souls since Demon's Souls, this sounds pretty neat! A change in gameplay structure in a sort of roguelite fashion without the need for mods or new profiles. I'll be keeping an eye on it 😎
I'll be watching with a few friends. Going in expecting nothing other than to be annoyed by long dialogues and awkward presentations. Hopefully there's at least one good reveal!

Re: Elden Ring Will Get Its A24 Movie Adaptation, with Alex Garland in the Director's Seat
Nothing is sacred. Everything can be milked for easy profits. I hope Jack Black is the tarnished, with executive producer Paul WS Anderson.
Re: Monster Hunter Wilds Reveals Free Akuma Armour and More in Street Fighter 6 Crossover
I figured this would be just like the Rise Akuma gear, but I'm glad to see they've expanded on the concept! Akuma is a new weapon type apparently 😆
Re: Monster Hunter Wilds Update Teases Some Kind of Street Fighter 6 Crossover
Ack. I was hoping the crossover would be anything but SF. I like SF (especially 6), I was just hoping they'd try branching out more.

Tbh they were barely playable as it was, streaming is a poor experience even with the best connections. Make native ports 😤
Re: Diablo 4's Berserk Crossover Boils Down to Cosmetics, But the Best Ones are Paid
@Perturbator The Dreamcast game is very short but a decent game overall, an aged hack'n'slash that follows it's own side-story.
Re: Oblivion PS5 Remaster Is Real as New Screenshots Leak
YES! That art alone goes so hard 😭 I'll gladly double dip. I want a box on my shelf, and a Steam copy running on the highest possible settings 🥹
