@IntrepidWombat in my union our recent successful strike action has restored £10k a year to my pension when I retire. Worth every penny of my subs and will lead to plenty more PlayStation time.

@sRPlay1989 because I played the alpha, and it's just a bang-average looters shooter, with a decent story.

Hopefully he'll be on a boat at some point in the game.

I played the alpa - the story was interesting, but the gameplay was the worst kind of floaty, generic looter-shooter nonsense. If I wanted a gear system that complicated I'd open an Excel spreadsheet. I might have a go when it gets onto a subscription service, but giving WB Games money for this only encourages them.

This will be on Game Pass and Playstation Plus by November.

@EfYI Been playing video games for nearly 40 years, have a PhD. Bit of a strange question, but there you go.

Days Gone is by no means a bad game - it's just alright and has its occasional moment, but is let down by profoundly bad character writing and generic open world gameplay. Plus any game with forced insta-fail stealth sections can just get stuffed.

'Masterpiece' implies to me an era-defining game, one of the best of all time, whereas I find Days Gone instantly forgettable.

Days Gone a 'masterpiece'? Those are some very low standards.

'Free-to-play looter shooter' = bin

I've been having a go at the Suicide Squad alpha - it's a weird combination of high polish (the UI, the cutscenes, the story), and absolutely terrible gameplay which feels like the recent Saints Row reboot. Bullet sponge enemies, purple orbs to shoot, heavy feeling character movement, and so on.

By coincidence I'd recently been replaying Arkham Knight, and the two are night and day - and not in a good way for Suicide Squad.

Glad to see a developer abandon the tedium of a 'a team-based action game' and focus on a single player experience. More of this, please!

I still think the boss fights against Kuze are the best in the series, in large part because the soundtrack to them is absolutely incredible.

The original Marathon and Marathon 2 were superb, great single-player modes, and genuinely exciting co-op. This looks to be everything they weren't.
