After many months of rumours and speculation, Konami has finally announced a full remake of PS2 classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is in the works. It will launch on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The news was shared during Sony's PlayStation Showcase, and you can catch the first look above. A release date was not announced.

The official name is Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. "A new generation of players and loyal fans alike can experience the origin story of the famed Big Boss, and witness how his legend was forged in the crucible of Operation Snake Eater," said Konami. The company says it's a "faithful remake" featuring the original voice actors.

This is the first we've seen of the Metal Gear Solid franchise since 2018 spin-off Metal Gear Survive. Before that, it was Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which also marked the exit of series creator Hideo Kojima from Konami. He has since gone on to develop Death Stranding for PS5, PS4, and PC. A sequel is also being produced.
