Re: A Quote from a Sony Exec Is Causing a Hubbub Among PS5 Fans Again

11001100110zero

@UltimateOtaku91 I thin consoles will exist for quite a while as well. I do agree with you there. I think I meant to point at how it won't really be a needed piece of equipment.

No it's not amazing, as of this very moment, but cloud can be ran off a fire stick. Those are what $20 bucks?

Jokes aside and what not, I think more hardware from Xbox isn't a idiotic venture. They obviously see that 30million people like there green consoles. I'm sure PS wil continue as well, given they have a player base that dwarfs xbox's.

So with cloud advancement occuring at a steady pace, it's not hard for people to see that a dedicated device won't be "needed". It'll still be the preferred/better way of gaming though, for at least another 15 or 20 so years, easy.

Hell by then I'll personally be just about to retirement. Idk If I'll be able to game at all beyond some slow paced diablo or something not too resource heavy.

Re: PS5 Console Sales Surpass 80 Million Milestone, Closing in on PS3

11001100110zero

@twitchtvpat I don't think they are though. Maybe sort of lol.

I think with most electronics, their supplied under a sort of consignment agreement.

W want $... For each one sold.

You can sell it for/discount it for any amount above such n such price.

That's how most electronics retailers work.

Best buy doesn't actually purchase say 10 $5k OLED TV's from LG for each store. Then another 10 or so, high end Bravias, or samsungs tvs.

They don't purchase all the expensive, MacBooks, and gaming rigs. Or washers and dryers.

retailers will do a consignment contract.

I ran small recording studio, and small small small record label in the earl 2000s, before online distribution existed. For the artist I helped, we'd open consignment accounts t local record shops and books store.

A company doesn't mind giving you shelf space, if it's at no cost to them. And every month or two, we'd call the store up, or visit. And get a check for any amount from any album sales.

So yeah, they're at the stores, pretty much a sure sale for Sony tbh.

But at any point, the company can send them back to Sony, like if the economy tanks, and no one has spending cash for example.

Sony needs them to actually sell to a customer.

For online direct through Sony owned websites, it's obvious instal money in the pocket type sale.

Re: PS5 Console Sales Surpass 80 Million Milestone, Closing in on PS3

11001100110zero

@UltimateOtaku91 how much beyond that though? Given the slow adoption of a large chunk of us. Many still vangig away on the PS4.

This cross gen release plan is holding the numbers back. 2 even 3 years sure, let them come. But 5 or 6 years into the generation is just bad.

I guess I want to see PS5 beat the PS4 numbers. And I'm curious if this console will be able to or not. PS3 to PS4 wasn't as nearly cross gen as this one has been.

So yeah fingers crossed, GTA will help a ton, but beyond that? Idk.

Re: PlayStation the Driving Force Behind Xbox's Helldivers 2 Port

11001100110zero

@cragis0001 of course.

I never invisioned a full on kumbuya moment. But I do think that something may have occurred, small conference call at the least. And yes, I know that PS probably has enough data of its own, but more would never hurt you know.

And the second point you made, is probably much closer to the truth.

I just looked online again, haven't in a while, and the number are crazy.

There's currently 1.85 Billion PC gamers. Those numbers might be lower than the actual if even casual grandmothers are added in for example.

And with cellphones, there's currently 7.2 billion cell connections, that includes plans with multiple phones. So the number of phones that can used to access games if even greater than we can see.

Console market caps out most gens at what? 300 million I think?

Theloud push is going to allow access to buyers, that the walked garden system is ignoring.

I'm sure consoles will hve their place for quite a while still. It's clear though, that even don't, might be noticing the untapped opportunities.

Re: PlayStation the Driving Force Behind Xbox's Helldivers 2 Port

11001100110zero

@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare l valid pointsan. Honestly.

The 7 to nephew I mentioned. Gispc is in the living room, so he's not allowed to be alone and hide with it. Idk your son's age, but I can understand that being a problem. And I don't have kids myself, but I would certainly want to game with him. I'd want those shared moments to.

My main point, s many make it out like it's the insurmountable thing. They tend to dramatize any issues.

Yeah in specs change over time, but a future proof/good mid range setup will last for years.

I guess I'm always shocked. I was a no no to PC dude like many here. But I did some reading. Had the parts shipped, and was up and running in like 2hrs. 75% of that was getting windows to finish the install, and download steam.

To each there own you know. I just don't want people doing two things mainly.

Dissuading people from PC, who are both interested, or exited.

Second, feeling PS will disappear. I figure if Xbox can manage after what 15 years of being the joke of consoles, then PS can change and still do great.

Re: PlayStation the Driving Force Behind Xbox's Helldivers 2 Port

11001100110zero

@Vaako007 kinda agree, kinda don't lol. So I don't think Xbox should bother with hardware. They had two gens now, good memories in the past, but nothing has helped turn it around.

With PCs though, and I don't mean to beat a dead horse hete. But a budget build for a kid wanting fortnite, isn't much. You can buy one for $500.

So if mom and dad are gonna spend $500, why buy the machine that then REQUIRES you to spend more money every month/ year just to play online.

My niece and nephews age from 17 to 22. None... Have a console, one sec wanted a switch 2, but I don't think she bought one.

But the boys, they all have PCs.

My youngest nephew is 7, and has his dad build him a PC.

Kids under 25, don't seem to care about exclusives, or consoles.

Seeing Xbox die sucks, seeing PS die or disappear would suck a ton more.

But things change. As long as PS sees a good way to survive moving forward, then who cares.

Re: PlayStation the Driving Force Behind Xbox's Helldivers 2 Port

11001100110zero

@Gamer83 little silly to say that man.

Some people don't care, and just want to game.

Exclusives arent the big driver for most.

I grew up on both consoles. Ps1 to OGXbox, to Xbox 360, to PS4, Then Series X.

I just went with what seemed best tbh.

I enjoy Xbox exclusives more, but not a whole lot.

What I'm getting at it this. Lots of people

A. Don't care, and...

B. Just want something that's easier than PC.

If PC wasn't so easy now a days, I'd probably go back to PS.

The only thing I see "killing" PS, is if more people realize how easy PC gaming has become.

It's not some hour long session per game, just to get the settings right.

Most games read your PC specs, and do it for you.

Nvidia, AMD, both have it built into their software. Legit, one click, and done.

That's what going to end PS.

It'll still sell fine.

Xbox being a challenger, kept the PC off of most people's minds.

Now though.

I can get the Xbox back catalogue, steam, epic. Practically every game ever, so yeah I stay with PC. And pop in here for some random news.

It's not a lack of exclusives. It's people seeing how simple and accessible PC is now.

Re: Rumour: Leaked PS6 Specs Reveal Affordable, Power Efficient Next-Gen Console

11001100110zero

@Dodoo you should look at them nowadays. There is 4 main mother board sizes.

The smallest, is a "Mini ITX", and with it you can buy pre built, or piece together a tiny little one.

Thermal take, fractal Designs, and a bunch of others offer cases for that size.

Most are about $60 bucks.

One I was looking at, would have a foot print of 11 inches tall, 9 inches wide, and 12 inches deep, from front to back.

And could still fit 90% of the GPUs.

Point is. You can build a small form factor PC right now. You don't have to go massive.

Just a small cube is possible.

Re: Xbox's Gears of War: E-Day Seemingly in Development for PS5

11001100110zero

@UltimateOtaku91 not to nit pick. If a gamer wants 1080p @60fps. It's not much man. A PC doesn't have to cost 9 hundred gazillion bucks. A lot of people here, seem to think that nothing will run well unless you spend 2 thousand or more lol.

Check out ETA Prime. The guy reviews little mini PCs. Some are only around $500, or less. And one of the games he likes to showcase is Spiderman 2. A lot of these cheap PCs will play it at near high settings with high frame rate.

If my option was a $500 console, or $500 on a small PC. I'd go with the PC.

Also PC doesn't have "exclusives" in the old fashioned sense, but there are a ton of games that have never come to console. Hell, ready or not is a example, it only JUST now came over.

I get you love your PS systems dude. But PC gaming isn't some rich kid only thing.

Re: Sony Job Listing Implies More PS5 Exclusives Will Be Ported to Xbox, Switch

11001100110zero

@UltimateOtaku91 I'd imagine part of the reason consoles brought in more profit, is the lack of storefronts. You're kinda limited on where to buy games nowadays for console, especially if you mainly buy digital.

If I want a game on my PC, I've got a ton of storefronts to choose from. ( 'm an adult, with adult money, piracy is not for me) Not saying that's the only reason, but it's certainly a pretty big factor.

Re: Sony Job Listing Implies More PS5 Exclusives Will Be Ported to Xbox, Nintendo

11001100110zero

Ive had a gaming PC for years now. It's stupid simple to build, and the "tinkering for each game", isn't even a thing now. I pull up the Nvidea app, it shows all games installed for me. I then hit a single button at the top of the screen, and bam, it auto optimizes the games for you. It does all the work. It takes one button click now lol.

I just built another one using Bazzite, and it's great. I'm going to go ahead and do a pure vanilla steam OS install soon. All you need is the FREE steam deck recovery image. It's literally on the steam websites. With that, any PC is now a steam machine/steam deck.

PC really is the future. I loved my PS1, PS4, and 4Pro.

I loved my OG xbox, 360, and Series X.

But man. Linux and or Windows, plus a PC, free online, and cheaper than life games. Makes it a no brainer.

I get that some don't want to fiddle with building, or just PCs in general.

Honestly though, you're limiting yourself immensely, by refusing to switch or simply add one.

Little extra, I can play any game from the last 40 yrs. I'll always love my memories and childhood with consoles. But yeah, PC is the future.

Re: Oct 2024 USA Sales: PS5, PS4 Account for 82% of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Sales in the US

11001100110zero

@GamingFan4Lyf Sometimes it is better to buy outright and I do. I suppose for me it boils down to two main things, gaming in general is hardly even a hobby anymore, it's more of a time killer to me, than a full on hobby. Like Tiktok I suppose. Just there when I'm bored.

Second, I keep it mainly to play with my father at times. He's in another state, so I'm able to download what ever he's playing and jmp on with him here and there. So in doing it that way I'm always able to play whatever game he's hooked on.

I often stick to either Steam, or the Xbox play anywhere sales and mainly game on my PC now.

Re: Oct 2024 USA Sales: PS5, PS4 Account for 82% of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Sales in the US

11001100110zero

@Lup yeah.

I use Gamepass, because I work 11 hr days. So a single game like Elden ring could take me months of not a year to finish, and even though I make plenty with all the overtime, I can't justify buying outright. I might play a couple hrs thafirst weekend. Then not get to touch it for weeks. So 15 a month is chump change, and just suits me. I switch from GP to PS+ Every so often, keep things fresh with the catalogue.

Re: Oct 2024 USA Sales: PS5, PS4 Account for 82% of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Sales in the US

11001100110zero

@Boxmonkey I'm have a idea for what they might try in the future. With the EU requiring Apple to allow alternative storefronts on Iphone, I wonder if MSFT might use that legislation elsewhere. Maybe in the future they'll try to use that ruling to force Playstation to allow their storefront on as well. Just a thought of curse, but I wouldn't put it past MSFT.

Again just a thought, but they can probably argue the the Sony consoles, are in the same position as the Iphones. Who knows.

Re: PS Store Sales Charts: Xbox's Sea of Thieves Is Massive on PS5, Helldivers 2 Finally Starts to Slip

11001100110zero

I think with the amount of games they're now able to pump out they can now do both strategies. They can have some come to PS5 and some stay exclusive. They can literally have both avenues on their plate. I don't see Xbox dying now. I see it growing. Makeing some games for all platforms, just like a publisher, but also be able to still have exclusives too. Very interested to see how the next 5 years plays out.

Re: This Year's Call of Duty May Not Be Included in Xbox Game Pass After All

11001100110zero

I don't think it's leadership at Xbox that's the problem anymore. It's super clear that it's Microsoft constantly meddling in Xboxs business. I get they're the parent company, but they need to let Xbox leadership make the decisions. Anyone can see it now. Microsoft it running Xbox into the ground man. It'll be PS and Nintendo as the only console options soon enough.
