August 2019's PlayStation Plus titles have been revealed. The lineup, which, as always, is made up of two PlayStation 4 titles, includes WipEout Omega Collection and Sniper Elite 4.

This obviously means that the supposed "leak" from earlier this month -- which suggested Star Wars Battlefront 2 and EA Sports UFC 3 would be August's PS Plus games -- must have been some kind of PlayStation Store bug. We were right to be wary!

Despite the rumours being wrong, this is a strong lineup. We particularly enjoyed WipEout Omega Collection, despite it recycling tracks for the umpteenth time. We awarded it a 7/10, and love its PlayStation VR mode.

WipEout Omega Collection is an impressive remaster that shines at high speeds, though elements of this compilation are starting to show their age. Despite being boosted all the way up to 4K on the PS4 Pro, some of the tracks are returning for the fourth time, and while WipEout 2048’s contemporary layouts look luxurious on the big screen, it can be hard to shake the feeling of familiarity on occasion. That said, if anti-grav is your bag, then there’s nothing quite like the original – even with the number of inferior pretenders on the racing scene these days.

And Sniper Elite 4 is no slouch either, as we scored it a similarly solid 7/10 in our review:

Enormous, open levels augment Sniper Elite 4 with some of the best long-distance shootouts that the series has seen thus far. The under-the-hood improvements – paired with the idyllic Italian backdrop – do give this entry the edge over its predecessor, but if you've played one of these games before then you'll know more or less what to expect. Nevertheless, as far as ball busters go, it doesn't get much better (or wince-inducing) than this.
