PlayStation 1 PSone Classic Sony

SNK announced recently that it would be producing a NeoGeo Classic Edition to celebrate its 40th anniversary, and rumours are rife regarding a potential Nintendo 64 Classic Mini. These micro-consoles have proven to be vastly popular, and naturally, we've pondered whether Sony would ever produce an equivalent for the PSone. According to John Kodera, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, it's not entirely out of the question.

Speaking with Mantan Web, Kodera stated that such a console has been considered before. "Our company is always digging up past assets. I think there are various ways to do (a classic console). There have been discussions happening (within the company) on what kind of ways are there."

This isn't confirmation by any means, but it's interesting to note that the platform holder has at least been thinking about producing a PSone Classic. It sounds like it's not outside the realm of possibility, and though we're not holding our breath, it would make for a fantastic announcement at PSX.

On a related note, we compiled a list of 20 games we'd like to see on a PSone re-issue. Do you agree with our list? Would you buy a PSone Classic? Reminisce in the comments below.
