Sucker Punch has spilled some early details on its upcoming title, Ghost of Tsushima. The samurai-based project was revealed earlier today during Sony's Paris Games Week 2017 press conference, and it's safe to say that most people were wowed -- ourselves included.
It's only natural, then, that we're desperate to hear what the game's all about. In the brief interview that we've embedded above, the developer confirms that the title is indeed an open world adventure. You'll travel around the titular island of Tsushima, which was invaded by the Mongol all the way back in 1274. By the looks of it, you'll be battling against the invaders throughout the game -- or at least exacting revenge upon them for what they did to your home.
If you haven't seen it already, do make sure to check out the game's fantastic reveal trailer. It's safe to say that we're very excited for this one.

Well played sp your game announcement really was the surprise off the whole pgw.
3 and half years in development talk about keeping a secret.
Im so excited for this. It looks and sounds absolutely epic. The game I have wanted to play since I watched the last samurai all those years ago!
Can't wait to see game play at psx , i hope there will be fantasy in game (like demons and monesters ) and i want ultra violence...blood... and blood ...and blood...
Very intrigued by this one, but need to see some game play, I'm more of a button masher than a stealth guy. Genji was great, I really enjoyed the first 3 Onimusha games, but I have a feeling this will be a bit more strategic. But who knows from a trailer?
@pbernoos from the video the Dev says it's based on mongol invasion so no demon or monsters, blood well one can hope.
I was expecting Sucker Punch to reveal their new project but wasn't expecting this. I have wanted an open world 'Witcher 3' style RPG set in feudal Japan and playing as a Samurai for quite a while. In fact I said as much in one of the threads quite a while ago.
Whilst this may not be as deep as the Witcher 3 - in terms of RPG upgrades, side quests, lore, variety of 'enemies' etc - especially if they keep the game more 'authentic' than 'fantasy' (so no trolls, vampires, ogres etc etc - just 'human' enemies) I am still very much interested in this.
The game, whilst probably more 'cut-scene' than actual game-play, looked great and atmospheric. Contrasting the dark violence with the beauty of Japan's wildlife. Definitely added to my 'wanted' list!
I would recommend checking out the 4k Video too if you have a 4k screen to watch it on...
@StArHaMa ''based on'', so you never know. But I don't expect it seeing there was nothing supernatural in this trailer.
I didn't expect to see the Sucker Punch logo at the end of that trailer, easily the biggest surprise of the show. i wonder if there's a term to describe an out-of-nowhere surprise like that one.
@Octane yeah it also has ghost in the title now am confused
@Enuo BOOM
This was just about the last thing I expected from Sucker Punch.
A very bold move for Sony to allow Sucker Punch to this, they could easily ask Japan Studio to this but it kinda shows that Sony really trust what Sucker Punch is doing with this IP
It's been 3 and half years of the development, I think the game could be shown some gameplay of a mission or a scene at PSX
@Enuo Drop the mic
It definitely sounds like my cup of tea. Sucker Punch does a pretty good job of bringing worlds to life, and as a fan of Sly and Infamous, I'm already sold.
My question though, is whether they're done with Infamous or it's just on the shelf at the moment.
And all the cutscenes were in game not cgi.
@DerMeister I think it will depend on how well the new game will sell and be received, I'm pretty sure they are way passed with the Sly franchise at this point, Sanzaru did a good job with Sly 4, I hope they make a Sly 5 so maybe they will ask another studio to make an Infamous game if this new IP takes off
I mean I also don't think Guerrilla Games will visit the Killzone franchise anytime soon with how well H:ZD did with the audience and financially
The wait for sly continues
So hyped for this game , 2018 looking like another killer year for video games.
I'm hoping for some Tenchu style stealth.
Hoping for 6 more Samurai to join the one on screen.
@eltomo in the interview the beanie guy mentions its an action stealth openworld game. So yeah Im pretty optimistic too!
this looks so cool cannot wait love SP studio as well so bonus!!
This was an amazing reveal and I definitely wasn't expecting it, but I am still looking forward to gameplay.
I just hope this doesn't spell the end of the line for Sly Cooper or inFAMOUS though, was really hoping their secret project was another Sly or inFAMOUS game.
Looks cool so far. Wish it had character creation. I want to build my own female samurai.
Set during the Mongol invasion of Japan, and developed by Sucker Punch. What more could a man want.
big fan of Samurai... big fan of Sucker Punch. double the excitement!
