Remember when Titanfall was billed as this revolutionary, mind-bogglingly amazing exclusive that was going to bless us all with its Biblical brilliance? Yeah, consumers kinda dropped a titan on that big load of bunk. But we're being a bit unkind: the game was good β very good, in fact β but like so many new properties it hinted at future potential instead of changing the world at first attempt.
And it'll soon get its shot at sequel success: EA has confirmed that, just like Mass Effect, a new Titanfall title will launch between April 2016 and March 2017. Expect it to arrive much closer to the latter date.
We already know, of course, that the new Titanfall will be on the PlayStation 4 because the publisher has said as much. What we don't know is whether it will actually include a single player campaign this time. Any love for Respawn's inaugural release here? Remember that bizarre Reddit interview with Major Nelson in the comments section below.

Holy crap, I just watched that Major Nelson interview for the first time in two years. HOLY CRAP.
Yeah, he's an idiot. I used to troll him loads during that period on Twitter, he ended up replying when I called him a "crack-head".
To be fair, Chloe's lovely. <3
They also said TitanFall wouldn't run on PS4 due to the XB1 using the power of the cloud... Yeah right!
Still, I actually enjoyed it, although 90% of people didn't really use the Titans. It was more fun on foot. Infact it pretty much played just like Black Ops 3.
It would've been idiotic for EA to keep it as an exclusive and an even more idiotic on MS' part to spend the money it would take to make that happen.
I Remeber how it was hyped more than The Force Awakens! But then the whole sub 720p resolution stuff killed all that. I hope they can get it at least close to 1080p on PS4.
If people think Battlefront lacks longevity they must have forgetten Titanfall.
HAHAHA! 20 bucks and my joystick says nobody will hype Titanfall 2 as much as the first one, simply because it was on Xbox. Poor devoted Xnauts didnt have nothing to play but this CoD clone with power armor mods and a few new skins. Those who bought the PS4 don't ever have to worry about not having games. Of course Adam Sessler, we call him 'ob-sessler', loved Titanfall to the point of comparing it a PS4 release at the time, Second Son. That joker out right said it was leaps and bounds better than Infamous: Second Son, a PS4 exclusive with superb voice acting and story. Btw, Titanfall had a ridiculous story, was online only, and graphicly redundant. Rant of the year right here! Lol
Whaaa. Major Nelson isn't quite Donald Sunderland in Kelly's heroes. I'm looking forward to trying titan fall take 2, with no information I can't be excited so I don't see a full purchase on the horizon.
Might be interested but only if it has single player campaign or co-op.
I've noticed that there was quite a bit of hype before and in the very early stages of this gen about FPS/TPS with some kind of novelty thing in them. Things like Titanfall and Evolve. There was this Xbox 360-infused feel to them; the dudebro gamer stuffing his face with Doritos and showering himself with Mountain Dew as he pwned noobs, before yelling "XBOX SNAP GAME DVR!" through a cloud of spit and nacho dust.
As the Xbox One wilted away, that all seems to have died away. I'm sure it's not all down to the Xbone's fortunes; in recent years MOBAs have got a complete stranglehold as the esport of choice (LoL has more daily players than CoD and has done for years and isn't even on consoles) and other atypical games have experienced the kind of boom that those FPS were angling for, such as Hearthstone.
Still, I can't help but see it as related to the Xbox's performance when these games that are so very Xbox seem to flounder and are now announcing sequels devoid of any anticipation or hype. The bravado has gone and now it's "Small, exploratory β [we're] taking it slow." Or maybe it's the other way around? The decline of those sorts of games has taken the shine off the Xbox brand that's so intertwined with that kind of game.
Not even the slightest bit interested haha.
This one best have a story or proper career mode. Else no sale.
The first game was an example of Microsoft doing what they do best - good PR building hype.
In fact they are the best company I know at making p00p sound much better than it actually is. Kudos to them but I don't listen to their stuff anymore.

I'm looking forward to it, campaign or not I don't care i'll be getting it.
Titanfall is surely one of the best Xbox One exclusives and one of the best online mp shooters of my recent memory, the action is so intense and the gameplay is brilliant imo - so glad that TF2 is FINALLY coming to PS4 ^^
shame on MS for missing out on having this exclusive again - missed opportunity but they wont ever catch up to the PS4 anyway
I wish for Titan customization and a good coop mode, didnt really miss a campaign tbh but I wont say no to one either in the sequel ^^
must have for me!
Is it me or does major nelson turn into biff halway through that interview? I MEAN TITANFALL... HELLO... YOU IN THERE MCFLY
I miss the campaign, but it's great fun to play
Titanfall was a great game, it's mechanics were destiny level solid as hell, the premise was sweet, and the guys running respawn had not ever been involved in a game that I did not just completely enjoy dating back 2 console generations. It was a large reason why I got the x1 day 1, got the collectors edition, and endured the weird resolution that fried my eyes every 3 to for 4 rounds. That all said, I look forward to this.
Titanfall was a 'good' game - not great! Mechanically it was sound and I did enjoy the visual presentation but it really lacked any depth and variety. It launched with 5 modes that played very similar. The only 'new' mode was the Titan v Titan mode. 2 modes were just TDM - one that counted every kill inc AI and 1 that only counted the 'pilot' (player) kills. It also had a Domination and CTF mode but invariably these ended up playing just like TDM. It had no real campaign opting for playing MP from one side using 2 of the game modes (TDM and Dom) and then playing it from the opposing side with some very missable dialogue over the top.
To regen (the equivalent to prestiging), the game 'forced' you to play a certain way (use specific weapons) and completing challenges, many of which you had no real control over and had to be in exactly the right place at the right time to stand a chance - which ended up being more frustrating than fun which again put people off. In terms of its customisation and options, it was very limited too - with only a few primaries with a few attachments each, Within a month, a lot of the community had got bored and moved on. On PC, they even cancelled one of the game modes (for a while until the gamers that still played complained) because there wasn't enough players in the community.
Eventually Respawn added in more cosmetic customisation and a 'horde' style co-op mode but by this time the community was basically non-existant.
Overall it did show promise and I can't deny I had fun, but the lack of variety, particularly in the game modes and functional customisation (not cosmetics), the very frustrating and tedious 'challenges' to regen with no 'reward' for regenerating other than a new number and an increase in the XP gained - pointless when stuck at the top of a regen waiting for opportunity to complete a challenge and knowing that the next regen means you have to use weak weapons and play a different way to how you prefer!
It had a lot of potential and I hope that they have learned a lot otherwise there is NO way I would buy 2!
@WARDIE i enjoyed it too but the problem is it had no staying power, and the online community soon started to vanish
one of the problems with being a multi-player only shooter and being exclusive to what at the time was a poor selling system i suppose (i know it was on PC and 360 too but all the marketing made it out to be a XB1 title and most people when they think of Titanfall don't think about it being on 360 and PC))
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi I'd say less Donald more Don.

Business is business, right?
I hope that the first game will get a release on the PS4 any time soon.
