You may have a few concerns with the quality of PlayStation Plus right now, but Sony’s aiming to shepherd you into the holiday season in style this October with a bumper update – including the hotly anticipated DriveClub PS Plus Edition sampler. While this doesn’t represent the full release, developer Evolution Studios has promised that you’ll get a sizeable chunk of content – and it won’t be taking up one of the free game slots for the month, either.
Writing on the PlayStation Blog, manager Fred Dutton confirmed as much. “DriveClub will be in addition to you regular PlayStation Plus allocation,” he elaborated in response to a fan. This means that you’ll get two complimentary PlayStation 4 titles – which are unannounced at the time of typing – as well as the extended demo. Do you think that this is a step in the right direction for the Japanese giant’s subscription service? Let us know in the comments section below.

............well played.
brilliant xD. to be honest id be damn happy if it was only driveclub ps plus edition that was available that month, the game looks sweet and i cannot wait to try it. after i done everything on ps plus edition i will most likely support the game by buying the full version. looking really forward to beating some friends online also and with the effort they put into the online multiplayer, its going to be a really good blast xD
Yes we know. Drive Club and a poopy indie game.
I couldn't care less about racing games. Very decent of them to make it an extra plus game tho... Means it won't be replacing one of the indie games I hope the ps3 offering is better this time tho....I don't expect AAA games in the PS4 line up but I do in the PS3 list.... Hoard and that playstation all stars game are not in the same league as the liked of Crysis 3 and farcry 3.
Well thats quite gallant of them. I certainly wasn't expecting that.
@3Above thats so people dont complain they are only getting a demo when they were to believe theyll be getting the equivalent of a full title
This will be the best free game on ps+ since outlast
Sony has been awesome with the PS4 and sales figures reflect this. I am very grateful and happy with with Playstation Plus free games. Some people you just cant make happy they are the complainers. If Sony gave out Destiny on Plus they would just say "yeah but next month we get Indies" just to have something to complain about.
I say Thank You Sony Playstation you are AWESOME!!!
@Rapidaz Strider was good. Some folk will still hate on it though.
For me there hasnt been much to my taste, AAA isnt going to change that.
But still, they are finally coming through with what they promised though.
I'd have been happy with just DriveClub, but having it as an extra is certainly a marvelous announcement, and while I don't expect AAA games on PS+, at least not yet, I hope we can do great in the indie department.
Thats great to hear im glad its an added extra, doesnt really affect me as i am buying Drive Club day 1 anyway 🎮
I am slightly disappointed in Sony/Evolution here. To start with they said we'd get the for free on plus. Then once it was postponed & 'relaunched' they scaled that back to part of the game would be free on plus. Now it's not even part of plus and it's an "extended demo".
I'm not complaining about plus here btw, I like the indie games. It's giving me games I otherwise wouldn't play. I'm just disappointed in Sony/Evolution.
Not really that excited about this game but it sounds like Plus Edition is a good enough sample size that I'll be able to decide if it's worth the upgrade. One thing I will say, the season pass and free content on offer is some of the best I've seen for a game. So points to Evolution for that.
@Incrediblebraig They never said we'd get the full game. It was always a plus edition of the game with only a small sample of the content.
@ScreamAimFire99 Thanks for that brilliant response, which shows you read exactly 0% of this post, including the header. If you don't/can't read, why bother commenting?
How can this be anything but not appreciated? Brilliant!
@Incrediblebraig As others have pointed out, it was never the full game. To expect anything otherwise is, frankly, ludicrous.
Cool Some people will still moan tho
@Incrediblebraig That has to be a parody post lol.
Ever since DRIVECLUB for PS+ was announced they said it was "DRIVECLUB PS+ Edition".
I'll believe it when I see it. To be honest when anything is posted on the Sony Europe blog nowadays I take it with a pinch of salt. The amount of lies told on there - from staff and commenter's - is ludicrous.
As for DriveClub, I'm not a big fan of realistic racing games but this one has me intrigued for some reason.
@Munkyknuts You should be thankful that Sony even gives our AAA titles for PS Plus.
@ToOGoodOfAPlaya Only issue I had with Strider was the damn map So confusing to attempt and go back through to 100% the game - I eventually just gave up. Seriously the only bad thing about that game though.
@Incrediblebraig To be fair - they never said the whole game would be available on PS Plus. The only thing they did say is that it would be coming to PS Plus - which even if we only get 1/5th of the game on PS Plus - its gunning for best racing game of the year - so I'm pretty happy with it.
@rastamadeus I've been browsing this site for going on 4+ years now - I've not seen these "lies" you speak of? For the most part this site tends to be pretty straight forward, I'm confusing at anything that's caused your point of view?
@AD-80 To be fair, the PS3 sub is purely optional so youd kind of expect a better level, but I see where you are coming from.
And yeah, the map was awkward, the downside for me was retracing the same areas over and again.
But none the less a good revival.
Edit: I think he meant the PS Blog not Push Square.
once this game comes out I can finally quit my job and live under a bridge playing drive club happily ever after
@ToOGoodOfAPlaya Yeah I actually only had an issue with the map at the very end of the game-once i beat it.
@AD-80 I had PS+ for a long time before PS4 because of the high quality of the games given out. There is a massive backlog of games for the last gen system and really no reason for there to be a quality drop in what's offered on that system. Some of the best game experiences I've had have been on games from PS+ that I'd not have ever bought, and so not experienced otherwise. It's in no way unrealistic for me to expect the quality of games given for the PS3 to continue at the standard it's been at for years.
@Munkyknuts My apologies it seems your situation has turned from logic to #1stworldproblems. Sorry PS+ doesn't meet your high standard for spending $50 a year, you may want to go get an xbox live gold subscription so your money is better spent.
@AD-80 this is a polite site so I'm going to refrain from replying to you the way I'd like to. However you know nothing about me and I certainly don't rate your opinion on anything. You don't like what I say then tough...I can't be bothered with someone who seems set on trying to pick a fight. If you think my comment that last months PS3 games were poor was wrong then that's tough too, I'll say what I like and express what opinion I like. Knock yourself out with your reply I won't see it.
Awesome. This extended demo could be a good idea for Playstation. Much like Uncharted 3's multiplayer was free for PS+.
