Guide: inFAMOUS: Second Son PS4 Trophy Guide & Road Map

Posted by Sammy Barker

Platinum your powers

The inFAMOUS franchise has always presented a reasonable Platinum for Trophy hunters. While the titles are typically brimming with content, engaging gameplay has historically left players eager to see it all. Fortunately, it’s more entertaining than ever to complete everything in PlayStation 4 sequel inFAMOUS: Second Son, as the game conveniently marks any important locations on your map, and even includes a checklist to keep you up to speed. In order to help you to unlock the top trinket in Sucker Punch’s latest excursion, we’ve compiled this guide to support you in your supercharged endeavours. Remember: being a hero doesn’t have to be hard.

Road Map

You’ll need to complete inFAMOUS: Second Son twice in order to unlock the top trinket: once with Good Karma and once with Evil Karma. It’s up to you how you play the game, but we recommend starting out with Good Karma, which means that you’ll need to choose the blue decisions during branching paths, complete the blue missions when given the option, and focus on the blue side-quests that appear in the world. It’s also best to spare enemies by using the triangle button when prompted, and aim for their legs with the neon power as much as possible. Act like a good guy and you’ll be rewarded.

We also recommend playing through the campaign on the standard difficulty tier on your first attempt. This complements Good Karma, as you’ll need to be a bit more reckless on Expert difficulty, and thus it will be easier to adopt your Evil Karma stance on this second run. It’s also best to try and clear your save on your first attempt, as District Showdowns will be much more challenging when you ramp up the difficulty. You can clean up any remaining objectives once you’ve completed the campaign. The latest patch also incorporates Raid Missions, which add enemies back into the world even after you’ve cleared out all of the districts, so there’s no danger of missing anything.

Once you’ve completed the campaign and all of the side missions on Good Karma, create a new file and adopt the Evil Karma route. As soon as you get the opportunity, push the Options button, press triangle, and change the difficulty to Expert. You’ll need to keep it there for the entirety of your playthrough in order to unlock the ‘Unstoppable’ Trophy, so make sure that you front the challenge out. The game is harder on Expert, but it’s not impossible, and you should have mastered your skills by now. Make sure that you still collect Blast Shards to increase your powers, and don’t worry about causing mayhem in the sandbox – civilians are just collateral damage. Finish the campaign a second time – ensuring to complete all of the red objectives where applicable – to earn the Platinum.

Assuming that you’ve been mindful of all of the trinkets, you should be done by now, but if you have anything left to mop up, refer to the Trophy Guide below and dive back into one of your saves to finish off.

Prank Call - Bronze
Complete a District Showdown

Once you’ve lowered a district’s D.U.P. dominance to less than 20 per cent, you’ll be able to engage in a District Showdown. To initiate this, simply begin the objective denoted by a telephone on your map. Kill all of the enemies to win the District Showdown. It's best to attempt this on your non-Expert playthrough, as the enemies will be easier to beat.

Hello Operator - Bronze

Total CARnage - Bronze
Destroy 5 cars in 5 seconds

There’s a good chance that you’ll earn this during normal play, but if you don’t, look for areas of high vehicle density and let rip with your most potent powers to grab this gong.

Drop Everything - Bronze
Comet Drop over 170 meters

This can only be obtained once you’ve completed the game. Return to the building where you fought the final boss and make your way to the top. Use your powers to make sure that you reach the very summit, boost into the satellite to get good air, and then hold square to pound the faraway ground. It's crucial that you avoid any obstacles and hit the pavement here, otherwise you may not fall far enough.

Keep It Up - Bronze
Stay in the air for more than 45 seconds

Using the third power, find the tallest skyscraper that you can find with a satellite on top, and boost into it. Make sure that you have the ‘Airwave’ ability purchased, and at the apex of your jump push the X button and pull back so that you begin to glide. Hold this for as long as possible. If you didn’t get the Trophy, try to find a taller building.

Put That Anywhere - Bronze
Defeat 10 enemies by detonating ammo crates

Ammo crates are red boxes found in combat areas. Try to wait for a group of enemies to huddle around them, and then blast them. The explosion should kill your foes, meaning that you’ll likely unlock this during normal play.

Hat Trick - Bronze
Defeat an enemy using three different power sources

Toy with your adversaries to grab this award. Land a shot with two different powers, and then finish them off with a third.

Double Smoke Stack Attack - Bronze
Dash through two red air vents without touching the ground and then Comet Drop on an enemy

This can be tricky to attain. With your smoke power enabled, find an area where you emerge out of one red vent directly in front of another one, and try to direct yourself through them both without touching the floor. You’ll need to jump into the first one, then glide into the second. Upgrading your powers so that you can do two dashes can help here. Once you’ve popped out of the second vent, hover over some enemies, and hold square to Comet Drop on them. The easiest place to do this is when you climb the tower in the final mission.

Cough Drop - Bronze
Comet Drop on three coughing enemies

With your smoke power enabled, use the L1 button to toss a grenade and try to get three enemies in a group. While they’re all coughing, jump up in the air and pound them to earn the Trophy. This is easier to do if you upgrade the potency of your smoke grenades. One way to complete it is to lob a grenade at a D.U.P. truck as the enemies emerge, jump off a car, and then Comet Drop on the stunned foes.

Make Fetch Proud - Bronze
Hit three weak points with Neon Beam in 6 seconds

Upgrade your neon powers so that they slow down time for longer. Use the L2 button and aim for either the blue or red weak points on a foe. A good aim will help you to earn this without any issues.

Excessive Force - Bronze
Use a Karmic Streak attack to defeat exactly one enemy

Earn a Karmic streak by completing good or evil actions. Once you’ve obtained it clear out all of the enemies in an area except one. Get up close to this unfortunate foe and then let rip by pressing down.

How is the difficulty on this one compared to the other infamous games? I think I might do my good campaign on hard - but would the shoot in the leg mechanic be really annoying on hard?

One of THE most tedious trophies I ever got as I was missing one but had checked everywhere. Found it randomly after I had given up while just wandering around.
