She's wearing her hair

She may not be on quite the same plane as Sabrina the Teenage Witch, but Bayonetta is still pretty bad ass – and she’s strutting onto the PlayStation Network next week, publisher SEGA has announced. The first title in Hideki Kamiya’s critically acclaimed series will launch as a digital download on 29th January in North America and 30th January in Europe. It will set you back just £11.99/$14.99.

“This stylish and cinematic action game is known for outlandish finishing moves that are performed with balletic grace as Bayonetta flows fluidly from one fight to another,” the publisher noted in a press release. “With magnificent over-the-top action taking place in stages that are a veritable theme park of exciting attractions, Bayonetta pushes the limits of the action genre, bringing to life its fast-paced, dynamic climax combat.”

Potential buyers should be aware of the PS3 version's sub-optimal framerate and shoddy texture work, but if you haven't got any other option, this is definitely worth playing. After all, which other game allows you to transform its lead character's hair into a giant freakin' fist?

Update: SEGA's official blog is listing the price of the download as £14.99/$19.99. That was not what was quoted in the press release. We've reached out to the publisher to clarify.
