A bit of personalities to match the names... Nice!
I'm Kris. 27 years old. Taurus. I like long walks on high-polygonal, bump-mapped beaches.
I'm a writer. Not sure if I'm allowed to link to other sites, but I'm a games 'journalist' (such an icky word). I'm also a novelist, with my second book on the way. Eventually. Writing is hard.
@get2sammyb: @Anchorsam_9: But couldn't this site house your ambitions? I'm pretty positive as the membership grows so will the income to maintain a small team. Obviously I don't know your own situations but isn't that a possibility?

@themcnoisy: It sure could! Obviously it would be unrealistic to this professionally now, but being paid to work here would a dream. Of course, if I had to get my income somewhere else, I'd still write here as a hobby without being paid because writing here is so much fun. The staff and community are the best I've ever come across, and the opportunities I get here are great. I'm going to write here for as long as I can, whether it's professionally or as a hobby, because of how fun it is, and how great the people are. So yeah, it's a possibility!
I'm a production manager for a manufacturing company. I'm also a freelance writer - some writing I get paid for, some I do just because I like it. I write reviews for this very site, and I also write stuff for other sites, and edit/ghost write novels, and other writing-related work. It's probably a bit too much work for me, to be honest, and I much prefer writing to my day job, but then my day job pays more so I'm just juggling them both.
I am depot manager at a small company that is a wholesaler for commercial vehicle brake products. Not a massively exciting job but I've been in this industry for the last 25 years so I know my way around and I couldn't switch to something else without starting from the very bottom again and that is not viable right now.

I'm head of PR for Hello Games and booooooy am I busy.
Obviously kidding, they have no head of PR. I work in Software Development - business systems though, nothing gamey because those deadlines are killer!
Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
I develop and deliver varying youth initiatives across Manchester. Mostly for/with children and young people with disabilities. Half my time is spent overtime writing funding bids to this pot of money and that pot of money. Working on the frontline for the last ten years with/in once great communities that the Tories have single-handedly targeted and destroyed, it's definitely not glamourous work! So when I game, I game HARD haha. PushSquare and the community definitely help as part of that escape from the real world! And yes believe the rumours and slogans, Manchester absolutely did have a party when Thatcher died.
41, 42 next month. I write cryptic crosswords, mainly for the Independent in the UK and occasionally other more niche outlets. I also open restaurants as a way to lose money.
I also use emoticons. I don't know why they changed their name.
@FullbringIchigo: Join the Navy as an Engineering Officer. I went in as a rating (I have a degree in business admin and an ONC in Mechanical Engineering) and I should have studied Engineering as a degree, but as it stood my military career was relatively short but awesome. Gotta be better than stacking shelves.

I study Accountancy & Control on the University of Amsterdam. This is my last year before graduation. If this happens i will be a MSc in Accountancy & Control. After that i'm joining on of the big four ( KPMG, EY, PwC or Delloite). Currently busy with finishing one of my last courses and i will start with my master thesis. My goal is to become a CPA:)
@themcnoisy: i wasn't able to join any of the services when i was younger because i'm registered disabled, not enough to impair me but enough to be declared unfit, not to mention a few years ago i had an accident and lost the sight in one of my eyes
plus even though the job i do isn't exciting, it's still a more important job than a lot of people think it is and i'm still happy doing it

@FullbringIchigo: Got you bro, don't get me wrong I'm at a car supermarket now (don't ask) so we all take twisted paths in our careers. Wasnt knocking it or anything, a jobs a job and they all pay the bills and help us contribute to society. I just feel your 5 years could be wasted doing a job unsuited to your credentials.

Been a web developer for going on 15 years now. Self taught, work from home so get to spend lots of time with baby girl Lucy (11 months old) and my wife.
Started off as a PC/Network engineer for 5 years, crawling around in loftspaces cabling up networks and offices etc. Setting up server cabs and servers, linux, netware, windows. During that time I started to dabble in HTML/JS/CSS and PHP.
Got my first job as a developer and never looked back. Been working from home for 2 years now for a company based in London. It's pretty great. Though you have to have a lot of self discipline and motivation. (and not get too distracted by message boards and forums...)
