I was glad to read this. I seem to remember a bit of hate (or at least apathy at best) towards Cal after the first game, but I always really liked him.
@gymratAmarillo "The backbone is $100, 100 more and not only you get an official product, you get a screen (i don't like to recharge my phone constantly so i only use it for communication) and the dual sense experience. That's a good deal."
Except that you will have to spend at least another $150 (maybe $200) for the Pulse Elite/Explore headphones if you don't want the sound coming through the speakers all the time.
@invictus4000 I haven’t read all of the material in depth, but could it not be the same as the PS5, where the Pulse headphones require the USB dongle to be plugged in for them to connect? If so then there really might not be any Bluetooth available.
I can see the potential use case for me, but at £200 my issue is with the potential build quality. I am on my 3rd DualSense in 3 years after one broke an analogue stick and one developed sticky face buttons, both just out of warranty of course. What are the options when the same happens here?
@KaijuKaiser I have two girls, 3 and 4 years old. What I found was that immediately after they were born, I got more time to game. My wife would go to bed early because she'd have to do the night feed(s). So every evening I'd get a few hours in. But once you're through that phase, then you'll probably have less time. I only get 2-4 hours per week nowadays.
@WolfyTn I have Little Nightmares in my collection already and I don't remember buying it, so I thought it had been free already. Maybe it was really cheap in a sale at some point (ie. under £5), so I decided to snap it up.
@Juanalf a year doesn't have to be Jan to Dec, it is any 12-month period. The award period for the Develop:Brighton covers April to March with the results announcing at the conference in July. It's actually quite smart, they get a bit of media coverage that otherwise would be lost in the noise of all the GOTY awards in December.
I bought myself a PSP earlier this year for the sole purpose of playing Crisis Core. I haven't actually got round to starting it yet. Now I'm torn. Do I play it now and then play the remake when it's out? Or do I sack off the PSP and just wait for the remake???
How are these guys making money when all of the updates are free? I don't see the game near the top of sales charts even around the big updates, as far as I'm aware there's no MTX in the game. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining and what they have achieved is incredible, I'm just interested in the economics as I've never seen this level of free post-launch support before.
@Orange_Juice finally someone mentioned G-Police. Were we the only 2 people in the world who played it (or at least who remember it so fondly)??? One of my favourite PS1 games
@get2sammyb I bought lumines, gran turismo and crisis core. The 14 I got with the console are:
PES 2010 PES6 PES 5 (2 copies) WIPEOUT PULSE TIGER WOODS 08 FIFA 06 VIRTUA TENNIS 3 BURNOUT LEGENDS LOCOROCO MIDNIGHT CLUB L.A REMIX NEED FOR SPEED UNCOVERED CHAMPIONSHIP MANAGER WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP (WRC)
I just bought myself a PSP off eBay yesterday and it's got 14 games with it too!!! Plus I got 3 other games already waiting for the console to arrive. The results of this poll will be very handy.
Basically I got it just to play FF7: Crisis Core, which I've never played before.
Is Elden Ring a “better” game than Bloodborne? Yes, in every way I think it has improved the formula. But Bloodborne is still my favourite and potentially my GOAT. Elden Ring will come close, but I had never played anything like Bloodborne before. The cosmic horror style, the tone of the world, the storytelling, the combat and movement, the bosses, the difficulty. The darkness of it all. It was a landmark game for me at a time of my life when I really needed the escapism.
@BrainHacker I’m similar, although I’ve played a fair few more hours than you. I’m a relatively high level, got some good weapons, I feel I’ve got a good grasp of the combat mechanics and I’ve beaten most of the sub-bosses pretty easily. But I’ve hit a wall with Margit. I’ve given him 10 or so attempts and haven’t even got below half his health bar, even with summoning in a co-op player. But I’ll get there in the end.
I really want to get and love this game, but I seem to have left my enthusiasm for racing games back in the PS1 days. I used to love Gran Turismo, TOCA, Wipeout, but for some reason nowadays they just don't hold my interest. I think the only one that could probably change this trend is a new Wipeout, which would be amazing (launch title for PSVR2, perhaps???). But I might just get GT7 anyway to see if I can enjoy it.
The same thing has happened with fighting games. I have such fond memories of Mortal Kombat 3, Tekken, Street Fighter 2, Soul Calibur. I still think I'll like them so I buy them every now and then, but after an hour or two I'm losing the will to carry on with them.
@PenguinL I felt the same about the extra £25 for Ghost DC but I ended up caving and getting it and I’m so glad I did. Obviously value is very subjective, but the upgraded visuals, haptics and adaptive triggers were worth it for me on their own tbh, and then you throw in the Iki storyline on top which is brilliant. I’ve had a ball with it and it’s encouraged me to go for the Platinum. Deffo worth a punt, especially if you can wait for a sale.
@get2sammyb hey Sammy, this is my first year giving FUT a go and it’s all a little confusing to beginners. Hard to find out how I can actually get my hands on a TOTW player (apart from buying from the transfer market). When you say that TOTW players are available “in packs”, any particular type of pack? Or are they distributed across the normal gold/silver/bronze packs?
I actually have the same question for the Ones to Watch players. How do I get them?
Almost a third of that list are goalkeepers (7 out of 22). Seems an unusually high representation for one position, especially for the position that is usually the most underrated compared to outfield players.
@sanderson72 I was about to post with the same thing. Quite a few of them are more in £ than $. Something funny going on with the exchange rates
eg. Demon's Souls is once again discounted to £52.49/$49.69, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales can be picked up for £37.49/$34.99, and Returnal drops to £52.49/$49.69
Woo hoo! Got one on Amazon UK this morning. Interestingly it was listed under "Other sellers", but the seller was still Amazon. I don’t know if that’s standard practice or if it was their attempt to block the scalper bots, by listing it separately. If that's the case then it worked for me! Clicked straight through, ordered, done. Should be arriving tomorrow.
Just hoping it actually arrives.
Edit: the HotStock app is what worked for me eventually. I’m also on the Stock Informer Telegram channel, but that doesn’t seem as reliable as HotStock.
@KPraj what are your other platinums? I only really started paying any attention to trophies in the last 12 months and so far have two platinums: God of War and Assassin's Creed: Odyssey.
I wish I'd got the platinum for Bloodborne, but I don't have the will to go back to it again after not having played it for so long (and a big backlog of other games to play).

@Marquez lol yeah good point 😂 I do own some wired headphones, but they’re old, haven’t bought wired in a decade probably.

I wouldn't call that time-lapse. More like a montage.
