The steam machine is a threat to playstation but not with the hardware that is about to be released. The threat is from the open platform steamOS which people will be installing on their own hardware. Valve has also given permission to other OEM's to build and release steamOS gaming PC's. SteamOS will be a big thing in gaming by the time a PS6 is released in about 2 years.
appreciate the reply @11001100110zero. I was aware of big picture mode on steamOS. What I should have wrote is we need someone to sell this straight out of the box for people with no tech skills then it would be a massive hit. So many gamers don't want to build PC's and install custom operating systems which is why they buy a PS5, Xbox or Switch.
Valve have made an excellent product already the SteamDeck and I know it can be docked in big picture mode but why dont they make a more powerful SteamDeck without a screen that can be placed under your TV. Surely that is the competitor PS5 needs.
if someone made a UI for PC gaming that made is possible to play from the sofa like a Playstation Console with a controller but stll included the advantages of using a PC then we would have a new contender to the market.
the fall of Activision, EA and Ubisoft to money grabbing investment firms is not such a bad thing if you have no interest in multiplayer games and games with loot boxes or in game shop items.
As Sony has a giant monopoly on the playstation controller market the governments of the world should force them to make more sustainable products. Throwing plastics, batteries and electronics in the bin because the controllers have short life components should be resolved by the manufacturer to stop more waste from being generated.
Fallout 4 on the PS5 - I am really enjoying playing this again about 6 years later. I played Outer Worlds a few weeks back and that game was really poor compared to Fallout 4.
It was an OK state of play, but I don't want to purchase any of the unreleased games that they showed, except maybe Ghost of Yotei
I don't own a PSVR2 - I could buy at least 8 brand new games for the price of a PSVR2 so those games are no good to me.
I do not understand why ports and slight remasters of old games keep being released. The talent and time should be spent making PS5 games or completely remake the game with 2024 graphics.
I hope the hack & slash, souls type genre of games slows down soon.

The sound they make while running in your consoles.
They can get damaged/scratched
Positives
Can be resold to get some of your money back.
Buying from the 2nd hand market usually means games are cheaper to purchase.
The price for brand new physical games is usually always cheaper especially a couple of months after a game has been released.
The main reason I like physical games -> if you buy a game then play it but you don't like you can get a large chuck of your money back by selling it. If you don't like a digital game your stuck with it once you start downloading it.
No mention of the words Single Player or Campaign - interest is now fading....
Bring back Bad Company games those are probably some of the best EA games.
Waste of money buying Bungie.
I hate live service but if they really needed to spend money on live service then they would have bought shares from Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar/GTA/RDR).
Started Resident Evil 3 Remake I like the game so far apart from the parts where you are chased by the nemesis. I would score it a 7 of 10. If they got rid of the nemesis completely and added a few more puzzles or map area's it would get a higher score from me.
if Steam made there own PC (NOT HANDHELD) with similar graphics power to a PS5 or XBSX and also running SteamOS then I would be very interested.
I don't want a gaming PC with Windows installed and then have to mess about with the game settings for 20 mins before playing each game.
The £700 PS5 Pro and the lack of games from Sony this generation is definitely making me think I would consider looking elsewhere when we get to the PS6.
@ShogunRok bottom of the barrel stuff is what PS+ has been dishing out all year. I have cancelled my subscription renewal for December. I would rather buy a game each month for about £8 which is what half of the better games on PS+ cost. Here are few examples of games "when on" sale in the PS Store
Doom Eternal £8.74
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt £6.24
Resident Evil 2 £8.74
UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection £17.99 (that's 2 games)
Immortals of Aveum and its actually quite a good game if you like Single Player FPS. I score it a 7 out of 10. You will have to give it a chance the game kinda starts at chapter 3.
it sounds like Ubisoft are going to update the game to iron out the bugs. If the combat issues are fixed in the next few updates this game could get better critic reviews in a month or two, though im not sure how many will re-review a game 2 months later.
who's going to read a comment all the way down here? but I'm still throwing mine into the bottomless abyss anyway.
single player narrative games are why I bought a PS5.
the comments section for this topic is MASSIVE
no surprise with price rises now a regular occurrence.
people are being forced to be cautious and put loads more thought into what they spend their hard earned cash on.
videos of people actually playing the game (not cinematics) is what helps me decide if I want to buy a game. review scores only become helpful if the game has been played and reviewed by hundreds of people to get a combined average.
I never play these types of games so my opinion does not really count. However It would be interesting to know how this compares to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League on player numbers count.
if its 13 months to spend your earned points then that is not great but what choice do we have. I am cancelling PS+ in December, so that part wont matter.
They need to make Demo of this game. This is probably not my type of game, but it would be nice to find out via a Demo. Black Myth Wukong looks similar to Stella Blade, after trying the Stella Blade demo that confirmed that I did not like it, but the Demo gave me the opportunity to check for myself.
Playing FARCRY 6 and i'm already hooked. This game series is total carnage and so much fun clearing out the enemy with stealth or going in full guns blazing.
The prices for reduced games is not fooling people anymore. 90% of people who look through the sales list every couple of weeks have all noticed the recycled sales pattern with repeat prices. Sony sales figures must be getting worse each month for their sales events.

Days Gone is one of my favourite games but its way to early to get a remaster.
A game should be 10+ years old to get a remaster.

Re: PS5 Pro Shows Real Promise in First Expert Analysis
if the PS5 Pro included a disc drive and vertical stand in the box. for £599 then most if these articles would not exist.
I would not be surprised if the PS5 Pro is sold at some point with a disc drive when the price drops. Still not sure if would be interested then.
The main question is, do I really need a PS5 Pro for the next 3 years when I like my OG PS5 and the money not spent, could go towards a PS6.
