Re: Poll: Does the Steam Machine Pose a Threat to PS5?

kirkn

The steam machine is a threat to playstation but not with the hardware that is about to be released. The threat is from the open platform steamOS which people will be installing on their own hardware. Valve has also given permission to other OEM's to build and release steamOS gaming PC's. SteamOS will be a big thing in gaming by the time a PS6 is released in about 2 years.

Re: PS6 Could Be Less Than Half the Price of Microsoft's 'Very Premium' Next-Gen Xbox

kirkn

appreciate the reply @11001100110zero. I was aware of big picture mode on steamOS. What I should have wrote is we need someone to sell this straight out of the box for people with no tech skills then it would be a massive hit. So many gamers don't want to build PC's and install custom operating systems which is why they buy a PS5, Xbox or Switch.
Valve have made an excellent product already the SteamDeck and I know it can be docked in big picture mode but why dont they make a more powerful SteamDeck without a screen that can be placed under your TV. Surely that is the competitor PS5 needs.

Re: Rumour: New PS5 DualSense Controller Will Feature a Removable Battery

kirkn

As Sony has a giant monopoly on the playstation controller market the governments of the world should force them to make more sustainable products. Throwing plastics, batteries and electronics in the bin because the controllers have short life components should be resolved by the manufacturer to stop more waste from being generated.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Sony's State of Play for September 2024?

kirkn

It was an OK state of play, but I don't want to purchase any of the unreleased games that they showed, except maybe Ghost of Yotei
I don't own a PSVR2 - I could buy at least 8 brand new games for the price of a PSVR2 so those games are no good to me.
I do not understand why ports and slight remasters of old games keep being released. The talent and time should be spent making PS5 games or completely remake the game with 2024 graphics.
I hope the hack & slash, souls type genre of games slows down soon.

Re: A Massive 75% of UK Game Sales Were Digital Last Month

kirkn

Physical Games

Negatives

  • Waiting for them to be delivered
  • The sound they make while running in your consoles.
  • They can get damaged/scratched

Positives

  • Can be resold to get some of your money back.
  • Buying from the 2nd hand market usually means games are cheaper to purchase.
  • The price for brand new physical games is usually always cheaper especially a couple of months after a game has been released.

The main reason I like physical games -> if you buy a game then play it but you don't like you can get a large chuck of your money back by selling it. If you don't like a digital game your stuck with it once you start downloading it.

Re: PS5 Pro Shows Real Promise in First Expert Analysis

kirkn

if the PS5 Pro included a disc drive and vertical stand in the box. for £599 then most if these articles would not exist.

I would not be surprised if the PS5 Pro is sold at some point with a disc drive when the price drops. Still not sure if would be interested then.

The main question is, do I really need a PS5 Pro for the next 3 years when I like my OG PS5 and the money not spent, could go towards a PS6.

Re: Sony Boss Says 'PCs Are Difficult to Set Up', Firm Will Focus on PS5

kirkn

if Steam made there own PC (NOT HANDHELD) with similar graphics power to a PS5 or XBSX and also running SteamOS then I would be very interested.
I don't want a gaming PC with Windows installed and then have to mess about with the game settings for 20 mins before playing each game.

The £700 PS5 Pro and the lack of games from Sony this generation is definitely making me think I would consider looking elsewhere when we get to the PS6.

Re: 13 More Games Join PS Plus Extra, Premium Next Week

kirkn

@ShogunRok bottom of the barrel stuff is what PS+ has been dishing out all year. I have cancelled my subscription renewal for December. I would rather buy a game each month for about £8 which is what half of the better games on PS+ cost.
Here are few examples of games "when on" sale in the PS Store

  • Doom Eternal £8.74
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt £6.24
  • Resident Evil 2 £8.74
  • UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection £17.99 (that's 2 games)
  • Control: Ultimate Edition £8.24
  • God of War £7.99
  • Watch Dogs 2 £6.74

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Concord?

kirkn

I never play these types of games so my opinion does not really count. However It would be interesting to know how this compares to Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League on player numbers count.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Black Myth: Wukong?

kirkn

They need to make Demo of this game. This is probably not my type of game, but it would be nice to find out via a Demo.
Black Myth Wukong looks similar to Stella Blade, after trying the Stella Blade demo that confirmed that I did not like it, but the Demo gave me the opportunity to check for myself.
