I think early access is fine. As long as early access games were clearly labeled as such in an isolated section of the store, and priced in a reasonable manner then I see no problem in allowing people to make their own choices. An example would be some games that are relying on the early access funds to continue development. In return for paying for early access, people get to help shape the game and in fact quite often this is exactly what the devs want, feedback from players to help make the game people want. Personally, I like that idea. Of course there will be blatant cash grabs, but that is why we should research every purchase before making it. So bring on early access, let people choose. Only a complete idiot would spend money on something without fully researching what they are buying anyway.
Am I the only one who REALLY hates the change to the notifications list? It's so disorganised now, and no option to delete anything. Party invites, message notifications, downloads, uploads, everything in one long disgustingly messy list. I'm genuinely mad that Sony thought LESS organisation would be a good change, especially after how long we asked to get folders to organise our games.
@get2sammyb I actually agree with you. DLC was at first intended as a way to expand games. You get a complete game and a few months down the line, maybe longer, they would make and release an expansion if people wanted it. These days while games are being developed they very clearly cut content out to sell back to us later, providing only the bare minimum of content in the base game (I'm looking at you Battlefront).
I absolutely hate the latter kind of DLC, but I love the first kind. Deliver a full game, don't even consider DLC until you have completed a game and released it. If it is popular then you have an opportunity to work on extra quality content, which fans will appreciate and allows you as a developer to really focus on perfecting your art.
Of course that isn't as profitable so likely wont ever happen.
I don't use those services so I wouldn't know. Admittedly I am in a bad mood, saw this pop up on my FB newsfeed and responded. On a slightly related note, I recently found out that being on hold for almost 2 and a half hours makes me somewhat more likely to voice poorly researched opinions on the internet.
Well, not totally down, but there are still a lot of minor issues reported. I'm pretty much logged in all the time so rarely affected, but if the history for PSN recorded on Down Detector is anything to go by, Sony still need to make some improvements.
At this point are we even surprised by this anymore? These days if a beta goes live or a big game is released, it's a pretty safe assumption that PSN is going to be having problems. Seriously, this has been an issue since PS4 released, when will they fix it?
Really enjoying this game. it is dated, yes but I have never really cared about graphics and such, gameplay is always my priority. There have been a a lot of moments that made me grin, like the baseball still being on Sisko's desk along with the dart board O'Brien and Bashir hung in Quark's bar. I am level 53 already (not had much to do the last week lol) and now I am in the end game, there is quite a lot to do. my only problem right now is a few glitches and the lack of players for group activities.
Oh it is definitely NOT Counter Strike, R6 Siege i the closest you'll get to that on console (actually a really good game, picked it up in the last EU sale), but it's not your typical run and gun shooter either. Sometimes you have to wait a minute or two for a problematic sniper to reveal their position and land the one shot you are likely to get before they reposition before you advance. Verdun is not for those who are all about explosive, fast paced action. You have to wait for an opportunity and then capitalise on it, if you don't, then you will lose. And rest assured even a single player thinking strategically can turn the tide by establishing a foothold (especially an NCO).
I played this game for a few hours yesterday, and I am pretty impressed with it for the price. It demands patience, thought and tactics. Just sprinting across no man's land is a sure way to get killed. Was only a couple of hundred players on when I was playing which was immediately after the store updated but had no trouble finding a game. The only problem I had was getting into a match with my friend (although when I did get in I was on the opposite team, much to his dismay as I kept blowing his head off)
Hey Sammy, maybe I blew your head off at one point too, since every match I kept encountering the same players so a god chance you were one of my victims
Only thing right now is, machine guns dominate. Of course they were to be feared in WW1, but the fact they can mow down wave after wave of enemies with the same accuracy as a rifle but higher fire rate is a bit annoying when I am trying to creep forwards with a bolt action or pistol but other than that, a good little game.
Here's hoping the extra revenue from the price hike might actually go towards improving the service. They've got quite a lot of cheek raising prices for a service which they aren't trying to improve (as far as I can see anyway).
It's actually a pretty good game in my opinion. The only thing really holding it back is the lack of maps for pvp and lack of campaign missions to play with friends. The art style took a little getting used to I will admit but it grew on me and the diversity of the characters makes the repetition of the maps a lot more bearable. It's not something to play alone though, this game is definitely something to enjoy with friends. I feel that the timing of release was just terrible though and is a major contributing factor to the failure of the game so far but if they reinvent it, maybe people will play it and realise it is pretty good fun when you get past the flaws. As for the divisive style of humour, well I enjoy it. Mostly because too may shooters are serious these days so playing something idiotic can be a refreshing change.
I genuinely can't see why these games are popular. I played the demo for one of them at some point and it was just, dull. Not every game has to be an adrenaline fueled Michael Bay movie, i am all for slow paced games but what I played of these games was mind numbingly boring. Is there something i just don't get? Could someone explain it to me? Is it just some elaborate joke that I'm not in on?
man it would be good to have another Burnout game. Burnout 3 Takedown and Burnout Domination were probably the most fun racing games I ever played. Literally could not get bored of them.
Just gotta say, Rebel galaxy is genuinely really good. I bought it when it came out and played the hell out of it for a few days. very addictive. As for Tricky Towers or whatever, not my thing.
Oh no, not this time Bungie! You got me super hyped for the release of the game and broke my heart. You wont be doing it a second time! sticks fingers in ears
Good to see they finally admitted the DLC was totally messed up. I played the beta and was genuinely interested in buying the game, but then after seeing the convoluted DLC plan, if I remember correctly there were maybe 50 DLCs available on day 1, only something like 6 of which were included in the season pass, I decided to give it a miss. I wonder how many sales the plan cost them? I wont buy a game if it feels like I am not getting a complete game and I am pretty sure i can't be the only person who feels this way. Might give it a shot now that is is going F2P now though.
Definitely a game I could never have showing on the trophy list. Would have to disable internet on my vita too, since it's a grass and shows you online when you don't want to. I can just imagine all the messages from friends, the shame of explaining to them what the game is and the inevitable descent into loneliness brought about by my own perversions. . . . . . . So, when's release?
Wait, didn't they say the micro transactions would be used to fund DLC? Or was that just to fund the crappy week long events? Either way, great news for people still playing Destiny, unfortunately I am no longer one of them for so many reasons.
It's a shame this game doesn't seem all that good. I remember having a great time years ago playing Endwar on PS3, yelling orders at troops and frantically trying to reverse my orders when I made things go badly wrong. The only issue I ever had with it was the voice recognition struggled to pick up some phrases if you have a scottish accent. I was hoping I could relive some of that fun with this game. Sadly it looks like I will have to keep waiting.
Actually, now that I think of it, Little Deviants was bundled with my Vita two or three years ago when I bought it. Running out of potential freebies for PS3 and Vita perhaps?
Not a bad selection. I like a sports game every now and then (never buy them since I get bored of them very quickly, and always a year behind with FIFA since I get it from a friend who gives me his copy when the latest one is released) so NBA will be worth a download, even if only for a few days. As for Gone Home, well, it's not for me at all but I can certainly see the appeal, so I guess that's a good giveaway.
Now, correct if I am wrong, but wasn't Echochrome free on PS+ years ago? I had it on my PS3 and I never buy puzzlers so I must have had it for free. And does anyone remember when games offered used to be guaranteed scoring above 70% on Metacritic? Looking it up, Little Deviants sits with a disappointing 57...
Micro transactions such as these are harmless in my opinion. having the ability to pay for loot boxes, which can be earned in game anyway, that only contain cosmetic items is fine. Now, if you could pay for game changing stuff that would be different, but I doubt Blizzard would consider that.
I played the closed and open betas for this, desperately wanting to like it. And while I had some fun in the story missions, the multiplayer just felt way too much of a clusterf***. No idea what was going on half the time, coupled with terrible map layouts that don't really make it clear where to go, TTK being insanely high (in my opinion), and as stated in the review, the unclear and busy screen just gets in the way. I might pick it up if it ever goes on sale and still has a community at that time, but just not into it for now. As for Overwatch, I can't wait for that. A lot of people weren't really impressed by it, but I've had more fun with that than any other shooter for a couple of years so definitely jumping on that at release.
Good news as far as I am concerned. Always despised people who cheat in multiplayer games (single player do what you like, it doesn't affect me), and I hate companies who are soft on them. DICE for example rolls a cheaters stats back by 24 hours, which isn't going to make people want to stop cheating. Permanent bans for cheaters is something I have always wanted in all online games, so yet another reason i will be buying Overwatch.
@Rudy_Manchego I'm glad to hear that! I liked the nemesis system in Shadow of Mordor. It was a really interesting mechanic that worked really well. Unfortunately the game itself just didn't really suck me in, just felt too generic to me. Anyway, enjoy Bloodborne buddy, it's truly brilliant.
@Rudy_Manchego You should definitely pick it up. In my opinion Bloodborne was the easiest and most accessible of the games, and considering it is set in a different world from the main series it's a great point to jump in. As for the difficulty and replaying sections, don't worry about that. This is a core mechanic as it allows you to learn how to fight certain enemies, attack patterns and when to strike back without risking your precious souls/echoes. Dying and replaying sections is genuinely not that frustrating since you always learn something new from each death. And since you can call in buddies to help it should makes things a little easier. I seriously hope you put the difficulty out of your mind and give it a shot because personally I would rate them some of the best and most beautiful (in so many ways) games I have ever played.
@Matroska paying more for a next gen version of a game over a previous gen version kinda makes sense I guess, but different prices on ps3 and the x360 is just pointless. Then you just get the people who but the cheaper version thinking maybe they have an inferior version, while people buying the more expensive version feel ripped off. Exclusivity, poor pricing and aggressive DLC practices are seriously making it hard to trust devs and publishers in the last few years. And not even get me started on the inclusion of F2P models being used in premium AAA games. Anyone remember when companies used to actually care about the players?
@Cyber-BLP-- yeah I don't agree with this exclusivity being bought just to get one over on a rival system, because it doesn't benefit the gaming community at all. Worst of all is an entire game being a timed exclusive on a system, it leaves a bad taste in the mouths of the people who have to wait and I can't see how it doesn't affect the creators profits. At this point I pretty much avoid any game if I can't enjoy the full experience at the same time as everyone else.
In my opinion there should be no such thing as console exclusive content, as it just makes one group of players feel a bit ripped off. Exclusive games are fine, but selling less to one group of people for the same price is wrong.
More games to add to the library then. certainly wont play most of them. Does anyone else remember way back on PS3 when Sony actually cared about PS+? It's really a huge waste of the consoles abilities.
Sadly I kind of felt like this game wouldn't be all that great. The idea was nice and everything, but how long is the player going to be engaged in something when you don't really do anything. I like open ended games with no real objective, Minecraft is an example. But in games like that, making your own objective is where the fun comes from. I have no doubt some people will absolutely love this game, but not for me. I like to explore and everything, again using Minecraft as an example loading up on supplies and just exploring is great fun, the thing is I like to have options beyond simply going for a walk.
