Re: Sounds Like DOOM Eternal Had a Hell of an Opening Weekend

elviscrid

The game is great, but I still enjoyed Doom 2016 more. Dunno why. I'd just started going through the 2016 version again just before release of eternal just to get into the swing of it, on xbox one and Switch (amazing port by the way!) and was thoroughly enjoying it. Bought Eternal and I was a bit, "Meh!". I don't mind the platforming sections as some of them are actually designed to act a bit like puzzles, but they can be frustrating, and do break the flow a little bit. Plus the open air arenas make the game feel a little less claustrophobic and tense. The chainsaw/flamethrower mechanic works well once you get your head around it, but it does take a learning curve (it helps if you are far more aggressive keepIng some enemies at close quarters). don't get me wrong, it's still a great game. It looks great and runs buttery smooth, but it just doesn't feel as urgent, tense, or as fun as Doom 2016.

Re: Google Stadia Will Pay to Delay 10 Games on PS4

Google Stadia had a great shot at sewing the console market up before series x or ps5 could get off the ground, but they blew it big time! If they'd have waited a few months to iron out the problems with the platform itself and have a better/cheaper games catalogue, who knows...maybe they could have been something special, but at this moment in time, it feels like another one of Google's, mis-steps, confined to go the way of the google glass and countless other failed projects! It's a shame, because it really did have potential, but I think a high buying in price, lack of games, problems with tech that ain't quite there yet and a public awareness that google are quick to bail on projects, has all been a struggle, stadia has failed to surmount. At this point in time I feel like the ship has sailed for the Stadia. I'm not saying it will dissapear, there are probably already too many subscribers for that to happen, and the platform has proved itself to be an adequate gaming platform, even if it hasn't quite been able to live up to some of it's "4k display with minimal input lag" boasts. It's just that, at this moment in time, it can't compete with the next gen console hype, and it was never going to come close to a proper gaming pc, with the huge, regularly discounted, game library. Feels like a "close...but no cigar!"

Re: Rumour: Is the Recently Patented PlayStation Cartridge Upgradable SSD Storage for PS5?

elviscrid

While it's just speculation based on some sketchy patents, I would be a little concerned about the price of these devices should this ever materialise! The vita memory cards were also proprietary and Sony charged WAY too much for them, and I mean WAY, WAY, too much. I would be happy with the lower read/loading speeds of an external HD, but it seems like if Sony is going the SSD route, they may want you to buy into their technology (by the way....the ps4 didn't support external drives either for quite a while, that was introduced via a firmware update quite late on...after everyone praised the xbox one for doing so early on.) Mind, as I said, speculation. For all we know it could be a case to place your own brand/model/size of SSD in, and proprietary connections on the outside to correctly format/partition the drive once it's plugged in! This would be a much better idea!
(Sony...if you're reading.....you can have that one for free 😁😁👍)

Re: No Man's Sky's Beyond Update Launches 14th August Along with PSVR Support

I love it when developers listen to the game playing community, and try to make their wishes come true! I don't own No Mans Sky, but I've been following it with interest, as I have a psvr! I will definately be making a purchase, as I think helping support a developer that actually listens to the community is a must! Well done Hello Games! Awesome job 👍

Re: PS Plus July 2019 PS4 Games Announced

@Constable_What
Completely agree! Paying to play online in this day and age where games cost a small fortune, is outrageous! I can live with subscription services like game pass, cause you get a big list of games you can try...some may be crap....some may suprise you!....but you get a constantly updated list of games AND online multiplayer functionality....a far cry from paying over the odds for multiplayer (especially when some games are multiplayer only...and are still full price...looking at you COD!)...and then having just a couple of sub standard ps4 games thrown your way each month as a "thankyou!" Sony, you're taking the piss! Proper!

Re: A Predator VR Game Is Seemingly Coming to PSVR Soon

elviscrid

Not sure if it's the imminent release of the quest and the Rift S, the speculation around Steams new foray into HMD's, or the announcement last month of how many PSVR unit have been sold, but the VR market seems to be buzzing at the moment with the sort of content that people are itching to see. A decent Predator game in VR?? TAKE MY MONEY!

Re: Hands On: Arizona Sunshine Needs Work on PlayStation VR

I bought this about 2 hours after it was available on the store. I'll admit, the first 10mins of playing it was a bit strange with the aim controller, (I had mine set to full motion with smooth turning) as I had played slots of Farpoint and this just felt different. I also had problems at first aiming the bolt rifle (one of the early weapons) but I found that other weapons were fine (machine gun with larger sights, some other types of auto rifle, there are quite a few). I think my problem was mainly due to the reticule being so small on some weapons making it hard to line up properly with the target. I had a whole heap of fun with the other guns, and although the aim does jitter a bit, it didn't much ruin the experience for me. I played it straight the way through in two sessions with no motion sickness or sweats and had a right laugh doing so. Please don't let the negative comments about jittery aiming and motion sickness put you off. I'd say try it if you can, because I understand some hardcore fps people may be put off by the aiming problems, and that a few may suffer terribly with motion sickness, but I think a majority of you will have a great deal of fun playing this. It's like you're in your own, slightly cartoony, more humorous, sunny, Walking Dead episode! It has a few issues, (occasional glitches, aim issues with some weapons, occasional frame rate issues) but it's commendable that the team responsible are addressing the reported issues so quickly after release with a patch already submitted. If these patches do indeed fix things, I'll be picking up the aim controller and blasting my way through it again, with an even bigger smile on my face than the first time round! 👍😁
