I'm a longtime trophy lover with a good number of platinums, but I don't take them too seriously (like the people who strategically plan to get milestone trophies like a 100th platinum with a specific game).
As soon as I see a a piece-of-garbage platinum for something like this or My Name Is Mayo on someone's trophy list, that person's credibility as a trophy hunter (which, let's face it, means very little as it is) is gone. I love those trophy dings as much as anybody, but I've never gotten why so many people buy games they know are bad just to pad their trophy numbers. It's embarrassing.
Sony mystifies me with a lot of their PS+ picks, especially in the last 2-3 years.
I bought GOW about a year ago for $8 and haven't got around to it yet (I know...what the hell is wrong with me, right?). I'm not bummed that I own it and it was "given away" as a monthly PS+ game, I'm disappointed they chose a four year old game to include this month (regardless of how great it is) and one that has been readily available on PlayStation's other services. I would much prefer newer games. Leave the older games for Games With Gold (which is utterly laughable month after month). The other two games this month look as terrible as lot of the PS+ choices have been in recent memory.
@rjejr That's a valid point, but Knack wasn't exactly too shabby in the graphics department. I read or heard more than one review say it looked like a Pixar movie.
The constant ridicule Knack gets is one of the stranger bits of discourse I've ever seen in the 40 years I've been a gamer (and God knows this industry sees a lot of crazy sh*t).
The first game may not have been a 10/10, but it was a perfectly fine platfomer. I still hear it brought up on podcasts or mentioned in online comments, with people mocking it. For an example, simply read this article. I know the internet can be an incredibly toxic place, but there's such a disproportionate level of meanness towards Knack and Cerny that I find really off-putting.
I'm sorry, I don't get the whole "add the titles no matter what to your library even if you know you'll never play them" thing. Two commenters above said they do this. Is this a Podcast Beyond thing? Greg Miller and Colin Moriarty would always say this when they hosted the show and I know Colin still says it on Sacred Symbols. It drives me nuts. I'd say this is the definition of digital hoarding.
This is a step in the right direction. I can't believe these seemingly basic electronic retail features took so long to reappear, though.
My brother has been doing advanced website design professionally for 25 years and he was shocked when I told him last year about the lack of basic features on the redesigned web PS store.
I'm neck deep into Hitman 2 right now and one of the things I love about it and its predecessor are the hilarious and absurd moments in the games. Things like Agent Smith popping up in the unlikeliest of places and challenges like having to shoot the rubber duckies scattered around a level.
Hopefully the new game doesn't lose too much of that fun stuff that kinda lurks in the background, so to speak.
Glad to see a gaming media outlet finally talk about this issue. I've noticed this problem occurring for the last couple of years and it happens on an almost weekly basis. New sale banners show up on the console and web browser stores and when you click on them there's either no titles listed, only a few titles listed, or there are games listed but no discount is showing. Sometimes it takes a few hours after a new sale goes live until everything is properly displayed. It's so half-assed.
This was one of many jaw-dropping deficiencies of the PS store. My biggest gripe with the store is how half-assed the sale updates are. On the Canadian store, I regularly see banners/tiles on the home page for a new sale that has just gone "live" and when you click the link it takes you to a page with either no titles listed or only some titles (often without the sale prices listed yet). They apparently don't have some sort of process where all the titles and sale prices are pre-loaded before the public sees them, which is quite amazing for an online store from a huge corporation in 2020.
This is the safest move Sony could make which I get, but I would have had zero problem with them going ahead with the event (and I say as someone who is half black). Surprised to see overwhelming support here for their move. Although America is PlayStation's biggest market, the world does not revolve around the U.S. As a Canadian, I am SO tired of being a witness to how messed up our neighbour to the south is.
Rory McIlroy’s PGA Tour is not even available on PSN anymore. It was removed last year, apparently due to EA losing the PGA license. I'd assume that's why it's not offered in EA Access.
The last couple of Tiger Woods golf games (2013 and 2014 editions) on PS3 also ended up disappearing on digital stores due to licensing issues.
I wish I had known the Hitman 2 prologue was the same as the previous game's before downloading it. I probably wouldn't have bothered but since I did, I just spent an hour or so with it, considering the two prologue levels were still pretty fun.
They were easy trophies to earn, too, since I had just played these levels recently. The "base" trophies for the game (that aren't associated with a specific city name) seem to be identical to the ones from the previous game.
Really excited to see this coming out because I loved Rage and didn't think there'd be a sequel. I have Mad Max in my backlog and just finished playing Just Cause 3 and all its DLC last week. I also love JC2 and 3, but 3 was a little rougher around the edges than I would have liked. Considering the original Rage had a few issues with "polish" as well, hopefully that gets cleaned up a bit with Rage 2.
I was really busy yesterday and was going to wait until today to watch the video, but something told me not to put it off. Glad I didn't and ended up saving $4 on the already discounted HZD The Frozen Wilds.

I'lll be taking a hard pass on all of these.
