Re: Sony: We Had to Be Careful Not to Overhype PlayStation VR

blourf

With that disappointing launch lineup Sony couldn't effort to hype anything. The PSVR box kills any HDR support, so using it with the pro is bothersome. At the same time you can't use wireless headsets together with PSVR. Sony sold not fully compatible goggles with mediocre graphics... so I don't buy the story. (Before anyone starts getting ready to beat me with a cane, I got the PSVR and together with it the right to complain about it.)

Re: Hundreds Line Up for PlayStation VR Restock in Japan

They are in for a disappointment. Sony keeps selling the hardware but failed to impress with software so far. Haven't played RE7 in VR yet to enjoy the game once with good graphics. I was much more optimistic about psvr when in bought it, but at the moment it doesn't feel like it's going to stick. Maybe if they come up with more sensors to attach to limbs. Playing stuff with a controller in VR just isn't that much fun.

I liked Ryu ga Gotoku Ishin best in the series. Fresh setting, good story. But the trophies were just a bunch of repetitive time wasters.

Re: What If Horizon: Zero Dawn Was a LEGO Set?

@BAMozzy
TLOU has great scenes / environments that could easily be turned into an awesome Lego set. The university, the village with the sniper, any road / bridge with rotting houses, busses and cars.. throw in the heroes, infected, fireflies and other bad guys and it's fun for the whole family.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want to Know About PS4 Pro?

blourf

@MadAussieBloke hmmm. I can only hope that won't be the case. But it is likely as you say. I'm not planning to have two ps4s lined up next to each other, plus all the vr stuff, headphones, controllers, charging stations etc. is all starting to take up too much space. If I upgrade to the pro, my current ps4 will have to go. As I don't have a 4K tv right now I'm not in a rush. Maybe I will just have to do the old fashioned backup to an external hdd, format the 2tb hdd, put it into the pro, and then load everything back from the external hdd.

Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want to Know About PS4 Pro?

blourf

Hi. I would really like to know if we can just insert our ps4 hard disk into the pro. I have a 2tb hard disk in my ps4 and more than 1tb of data on it, so the 1tb hdd of the pro won't do. Also I want to keep P.T. On my system so redownloading everything if I have to format the hdd once before I put it into the pro isn't an option either.

Couldn't find info on this yet.

@get2sammyb Finally could fix the blurry text issue. Adjusting the eye distance setting in the menu did the trick for me. It cannot be done through the quick menu though, and I never had bothered checking the system settings / devices menu. It worked wonders! Now I finally can read the text on the screen and video descriptions. And graphic quality in games is also better. Wish they would have mentioned that in the tutorial somewhere.

Re: Opinion: Which PlayStation VR Launch Games Should You Buy?

blourf

@Furtin batman vr is the only one I would consider myself interested in among the games you listed. But reading a couple of reviews made me decide to wait for a discount. Obviously I wouldn't have bought the headset if I wasn't interested in VR. setting higher standards/expectations and not being satisfied with tech demos (not all of the launch titles are tech demos, you're right) shouldn't be interpreted otherwise.
I'm more than happy with the Rise of the tomb raider vr dlc, have high hopes for Robinson, and playing resident evil 7 remains my main objective on vr.
I also hope alien isolation will get a vr patch/dlc whatever. I'm psyched about the possibilities. Simply not impressed by the launch titles.

The underwater demo is cool, even love hitting the ball around in the vr worlds demo hall. The driving game would be super awesome if I had a wheel. That one is on me.

Re: Opinion: Which PlayStation VR Launch Games Should You Buy?

blourf

@get2sammyb even though I found a couple of great indies on ps4, I mainly got the console to play games with great stories and graphics, i.e. mostly AAA. None of the vr launch titles offer that. I too bought the psvr because I want it to succeed, and because I hope to get some cool games for it in the future. If that wasn't the case none of the launch titles would have ever convinced me to drop 450$ on it (minor rip off in Singapore).
Which is enough reason for me to personally call the lineup a joke. No deeper meaning behind it.

Looking very much forward to your review of Robinson.

@get2sammyb Great coverage of PSVR here. Thanks!
I am having issues with blurry images and especially text. Readjusted camera and headset several times. Cleaned the lenses. Never had a really crisp image. Any similar experience? Any tips?

Almost hope something is wrong with my particular headset and this is not how its always gonna be.

Re: Opinion: Which PlayStation VR Launch Games Should You Buy?

I will stick to the resident evil demo and the rise of the tomb raider vr dlc for now. The launch lineup is a joke. Read that The Robinson will come out early next month. Gonna check that one out. The one game I can't wait for right now though is resident evil 7. Gonna be a long time to wait till march.

Re: Japan's Holding Back the PlayStation 4

blourf

Japan would have accepted the ps4 a long time ago if Sony Japan wouldn't be so slow in bringing us services like PS NOW in japan too. People like the PS3, so if the ps4 would offer the option to play both ps4 and PS3 games, a lot of people would have switched already.

Also, the sales campaigns in the JP store blow. Either not even worth mentioning discounts, or discounts of stuff nobody wants ever in the first place. And thanks to Sony not accepting JP credit cards in U.S. / Eu stores people are stuck with crappy deals in Japan.

For some reason Sony Japan is being anal about opening up and offer Japanese players the same perks it offers outside of Japan. While new innovative services are being introduced in the U.S. And Europe, we are still waiting on translations of games that no one in the west plays anymore.

If the console wouldn't be region free I would have never gotten it myself.

@bbqboy the 'social' aspect of mobile gaming has nothing to do with its popularity in Japan. I also doubt that Morpheus will get a big following unless they connect it to services other than (ps4) games, as you mentioned. Virtual tours to foreign cities, interactive dog/cat games, educative content (learn/practice English at a virtual school) etc. could be a key.
