Re: Reaction: Vita's Lacklustre E3 Showing Was a Huge Mistake

Weskerb

@get2sammyb "Brushing aside"

How can you not be excited by Assassins Creed and Call of Duty? They are probably the 2 biggest franchises out there at the moment. And they're not ports, but unique games.

The conference was cool, it was snappy and it had the most interesting games. The Last of Us, Assassins Creed and Beyond demos were absolutely amazing! Ninty and M$ had none of that.

Re: Remote Play Functionality Being Added to New Titles

Weskerb

I'm a bit disappointed with this particular feature. I suppose I wasn't paying attention but I popped KZ3 into my PS3 and was expecting to be able to play it on my Vita. Then I found out it only remote plays the same games as the PSP, and it's just as blurry and just as laggy. It can't even manage a decent game of Zumba.

Re: Review: DiRT Showdown (PlayStation 3)

Weskerb

@KALofKRYPTON It's good fun, and it's cheap (I got it for a tenner), but I know you're not a huge fan of arcade racers so I'm not sure I'd recommend it to you. Coming first depends on messing up your opponents chances, as well as, racing well yourself.

Re: Review: DiRT Showdown (PlayStation 3)

Weskerb

@KALofKRYPTON I agree with you about Apocalypse technically. and I'd also say that Split/Second is a lot more interesting, because in that game you actually have some control over the destruction. In Apocalypse, it just kind of happens and you get used when it happens, so it's always the same, whereas in S/S each race can be really different. Anyway, that's just my 2 cents. Hopefully Dirt Showdown is better than Apocalypse...

Re: Round Table - What We Expect From Sony At E3

Weskerb

I watched some of your "Ask James" videos yesterday. They were really good! You need to do more videos! It would really benefit NLife and Psquare. Also you need to do conversational podcasts like GiantBombcast. Check it out if you're never listened to it. I'm sure you could manage something similar.

Re: Feature: Understanding the Niche - Ninja Gaiden III

Weskerb

Punishing games are fun. If you take the challenge away, then you better be very sure that the game-play stands up on it's own. Some games like Uncharted (on normal) and Assassins' Creed don't have much challenge, but they are interesting and fun enough to keep the player motivated to play. I'm not an expert on Ninja Gaiden, but I suspect, without it's difficulty that makes you try again and again, there isn't enough to it, to keep the gamer interested. Hence the failue of Ninja Gaiden 3.

Re: Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Confirmed, Out 13th November

Weskerb

I got of the COD bandwagon after the first BLOPS. That game annoyed me, with it's stupid kick the barrel levels, glitched trophies, Nuke Town and unstable online. I can't believe that game sold more than MW2, which was a much more solid and well-rounded experience IMO.

Re: Feature: PlayStation 3's Best Games

Weskerb

I'll make my own list, just for the fun of it:

10. Little Big Planet 2
9. Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
8. Killzone 3
7. God of War 3
6. Grand Theft Auto 4
5. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2
4. Bayonetta
3. Metal Gear Solid 4
2. Uncharted 3
1. Uncharted 2

I admit your list is more interesting than mine, but I'm just being honest.

Uncharted, Assassins' Creed 2, Red Dead Redemption and Resident Evil 5 should also be in there somewhere. As well as quite a few others. Top 10s are pretty hard to do on PS3...

Re: Review: Street Fighter X Tekken (PlayStation 3)

Weskerb

Well done James. That was an excellant review, which really challenged a lot of the common assumptions made about this game that all the other reviews I've seen have breezed over. Next time there is a fighting game released I will be sure to read your review first.

Re: Feature: Must-Have PlayStation 3 Games - Nathan's Picks

Weskerb

@zezhyrule I tried WKC1 and found it to be very heavy on traditional JRPG gameplay mechanics like item management and such, so I gave up. But, if you like JRPGs, the production values and story seemed to be really good, so it might be worth picking up for you.

Re: Review: Vanquish (PlayStation 3)

Weskerb

Whereas Bayonetta took hack and slash to a whole new level, I thought Vanquish added little to the 3rd person shooter genre. Still a good quality action game mind you.

Re: Review: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception (PlayStation 3)

Weskerb

I found some of the transitions from one scene to another a little bit wierd. Like "umm how did I get here? And "Why does this guy seem to be my best friend all of a sudden?" But really I'm nitpicking. I love the Uncharted series and hope it carries on for a long time to come.

Re: Review: PlayStation Vita Hardware

Weskerb

Excellant work there Corbie!

The only real downer is the issue with memory cards. One could easily walk out of a store with a Vita plus Uncharted combo, get home unpack everything and find that it won't even boot up without a memory card. That sucks, and it suprises me Sony is going down that route, especially as you get a 2 GB SD card in a 3DS as standard; much more customer friendly.

Re: Ninja Gaiden 3 Unsheathes Full PlayStation Move Support

Weskerb

What does FULL move support mean? As opposed to say SEMI or HALF support. Is that just PR speak? Or if a game comes out which doesn't explicitly say FULL move support, it might only mean we can use it half of the time, and the rest of the time what are we supposed to do?
