@AdamNovice I haven't decided to purchase it yet because like you said I don't want them to treat it like Gears. But who knows what MS will do down the road cause remember "the plan is the plan until it's not the plan"
"Missing the mark" has become kind of the norm nowadays in the gaming world. This wasn't the first time and unfortunately won't be the last.
Companies now just say "the fans have spoken and we have heard you and will make the change" to make themselves sound like they care about us, but they knew from the beginning this kind of scummy practices should never have been there in the first place but I bet they always think maybe this time we'll get away with it.
@bluemage1989 I genuinely am sorry that you feel that way. I really do.
As far as being a team player, I would like to believe that I am, as I always pick last because I see what the needs of my team might be because I may have ppl on my team go 3 dps and 2 tanks and now I HAVE to pick a healer. Even if I ask one of them to switch to a healer as being the only healer is not good they just don't care and cry about not getting enough heals when we lose. Again this is all quick play as I don't do rank. Also, isn't forcing someone to play a particular character or a role even if they don't want to and then calling them a slur a type of prejudice/persecution?
Anyway, I hope Sony changes course as I also am a collector of physical media and hope that you don't feel persecuted against.
@Leinad7 @Deadlyblack thank you both for your reply. I do see now why people prefer to buy digital on PC with better ToS that allows you to own the game and having multiple store fronts would eliminate the rise of a monopoly. Sony did mention that other retailers will be able to sell digital codes so let's see how that pans out. But I agree that I don't think Sony will change their ToS, if they do great and a step in the right direction but that's a big if.
@bluemage1989 I respectfully disagree with the part about "Gamers are already one of the most persecuted groups in society". It used to be like that in the past, but I do not believe that is the case now as gaming has become such a big form of entertainment. If anything gamers (not all of course) are becoming more entitled (not talking about owning a game) and way more toxic. I mean I play overwatch/rivals with my friends and we have a great time as we just create our own party but man if we join gamechat, there are so many slurs and profanity used just because someone didn't pick the "right character" to go with the meta. And I am talking about quick play and not even rank.
I don't play on PC so I wanted to know a few things.
1) How is downloading a digital game from any pc store front different from ps store when it comes to ownership?
2) Even if the game goes offline/removed and if you had purchased it, are you able to download it 5 years after it was removed? Or if you never owned it and it gets removed can you download it by legal means?
3) What makes steam or any other PC store fronts better then ps store?
4) If Sony makes their store and policies more inline with how pc does things, would it make the all digital push more favorable?
@Oram77 Yes the art style of the game is amazing. I was screen sharing the beta tests with two of my friends who play fighting games and they loved what they were looking at, especially the Japanese VO. They said they are just going to play the game in Japanese.
Yeah I like me some good steelbooks too. I don't have many, I got around 20-25 I think. I really like the Dawnwalker steelbook, but I don't necessarily want to purchase that game day 1 but then if i wait it might be gone. I don't want to keep adding games to my massive backlog just to have another steelbook lol
@Oram77 I was lucky enough to try both the closed beta tests for Tokon and it played really well. I got my ass handed to me online though lol. I haven't pre-ordered it yet as I do collect physical games and I really like the cover art for that game so as long as they offer a path to upgrade my copy to a ultimate edition I will get the physical copy. Wish they were doing a stillbook.
Hello all, first time commenting on here. I've visited this site for years but never made an account till now.
I agree with everyone on here who support physical media as I also collect games, blu-rays, etc. as well. It does suck to have the option being taken away from us. There are few points I wanted to make.
1) I wish the current Sony disc drive that I've hooked up to my Pro works on the PS6 which would allow us to play our PS4 and PS5 library. Not sure if they would do that.
2) If Sony wants to mandate digital only, they should do that for Sony first party exclusive games and not every third party. So if my first point becomes true then at least it allows everyone except Sony to still publish the game on a Blu-ray.
3) I don't play on PC so not sure how steam store or any other store works. But what is the main difference between how you "own" PS store digital games vs steam store digital games. Is the "ownership" better on the steam store and if yes, if Sony does implement everything that steam does when it comes to downloading digital games on the PSN store, does that change the minds of people regarding digital only push from Sony?
Again, all this sucks but if Sony can implement some QOL improvements regarding external disc drives I think they would go a long way.
