Now less than 10 days away from release, Remedy has taken to the PlayStation Blog to announce what graphics modes you can choose from in Control Resonant.
First and foremost, the Finnish studio reveals the follow-up was built around 60 frames-per-second gameplay "from the beginning" and that the experience's "feel and responsiveness" took top priority. There'll be strong support for the PS5's DualSense controller features and 3D Audio, and you can track your progress through the Activities feature.

I love remedy games and am indeed excited for this, but no ray tracing at all in Pro’s 60fps mode is…kinda crappy. Control has it, AW2 has it, most (all?) Insomniac games have it, plenty of other games of similar fidelity and scope have it…I hope this can be patched in later or something.
I'm betting £50 Control Resonant is even going to review better than £70 Wolverine.
This is easily my most anticipated game of 2026! Can't wait.
@TheArt But not on this very website. Wolverine is a PS5 exclusive!
I'm picking up a physical copy, so it will be more than a 10 day wait for me.
40fps with ray tracing on Pro for first playthrough. 60fps for trophy cleanup to achieve Platinum.
@Max_the_German 😆 I know. But I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.
I got LG G4 (which has VRR and 120hz display) so, I wonder if the balanced mode might hit more than 40fps. I always stick with 60fps when playing action games but I will be interested in seeing how the game actually performs with balanced mode and aforementioned display if the mode is uncapped.
Why "60fps target at 2160p" for the performance mode on Pro?
Pick a lower resolution and use PSSR to make up the difference, then use the saved GPU time to increase the visuals in other ways, or allow for >60fps with an uncap option for 120hz VRR TV's.
2160 is just unnecessary with PSSR in its current iteration.
Seems odd, and counter to what others are doing - Not to mention they could potentially achieve a better 60fps lock by lowering the resolution.
@Balaam_ Agreed, I was disappointed to see that as well. Doesn’t seem like they’re really taking advantage of the Pro hardware at all, other than a bump in resolution. Isn’t that what PSSR2 is for? Dang…
@Rich33 They already use PSSR: "On the PlayStation 5 Pro, we use PSSR and offer three modes for you to choose from: Performance, Quality, and Balanced."
So the stated resolution (2160p) must be the output resolution after upscaling, not the rendering resolution, since otherwise there would be no need for using PSSR upscaling.
@OptimusPrime1
Oh, that sounds somewhat concerning if they are stating output resolutions - particularly for base PS5 performance mode at 1440p.
They should really state pre upscale res or you could get:
"2160p at target 60fps" when in fact it is found to be upscaled from 720p, and barely hits 45fps...
I've no issue with 40fps modes and often use them. But I rarely consider RT to be worth sacrificing anything for. If it's purely only sacrificing 20 frames and nothing else (big resolution/detail hit) to enable RT, then it's ok I guess.
Still, I could get the game free if I renew my GFN sub for 12 months as part of their latest offer and get a no compromise experience instead.
I'm still deeply concerned about the melee nature of this game. That just ain't Remedy.
I do feel there are parallels between this, and Insomniac opting for a character with very limited abilities (versus their previous Spiderman) in the new Wolverine game.
I like Control 1 and Quantum Break where you have that mix of shooting combined with "magic powers" for want of a better word!

Typically I agree with you... But Control 1 was a huge exception for me, Ray Tracing in the Oldest House was wonderful and it entirely changed how some rooms appeared. e.g. the room with a phone over the chasm just had black windows in the base version but with RT it was a whole lot creepier and atmospheric.
This is day 1 for me, I freaking loved the first one.
And this is how you do it. 60 fps should be a mandatory ffs. We are not in the early ps4 days to stay at 30 fps.
@Balaam_ AW2 does not have ray tracing and 60fps together, only CONTROL
1440p 60fps is fantastic news for the base system. I don't think I'll be able to play this one at launch, but it'll be on my list. Very cool to read.
Pumped for this one. Hoping it turns out as well as Control did. Remedy knows how to make some spectacular sci fi.
@Rich33 they will. 60 fps with a native 4K won’t be possible on the consoles. This will be around 1080p-1440p native and then upscaled with PSSR what is fine.
@IntrepidWombat let them folks know what the native res is on base ps5. This will be 1080p or lower native. A lot of folks will cry again.
@Reeneman
Yeah, another user above said they had confirmed this.
I have a bit of a problem with 2160p being stated if its post upscale, and 'target' 60fps - I mean you could state that and the reality is 720p upscaled to 4k, and barely going above 45fps.
The base PS5 output res of 1440p is also somewhat concerning - what on earth is the pre upscale res (obviously with no PSSR)?
I suppose we will see what the reality is when DF get their hands on it.
PlayStation stays the greatest platform
@The_Hooligan The 40fps mode will likely be capped on consoles, it simply wouldn't make sense if it wasn't.
I'm definitely waiting for the physical but to be fair I only tried Control for the first time last November, I can definitely wait a little longer. I trust Remedy to deliver an amazing game.
@yohn777 yeah you're probably right. 60fps Pro mode it is.
@GirlVersusGame they already do have a physical copy. Unless you meant just waiting in general to buy a physical copy. Also what did you think of control 1?
@The_Hooligan I'm waiting for them to release it, someone said Remedy usually release a game digitally first then weeks later a disc. I like collecting shelves full of plastic.
Control was one of the best games I've ever played. It was the first time I ever really related to a character in a game and ever found a game-world that felt like it catered to me. Most people found it incredibly claustrophobic and often too tight, I usually have the opposite problems in games.
I wall hug my way through the first couple of hours, in Everybody's Gone to The Rapture I found an English phone box and waited in there for a while then braved the world. I don't do the 'real world', ever, my record is seven-minutes, it was enough. And the more realistic game worlds get the harder it is to play them. A person call tell the difference between the virtual and the real, the mind doesn't always.
I was so comfortable in that game world. I play open-world games to push my limits, I didn't have to with Control it already respected them. Then there's the fact that (like I've said so many times before) it is based on the first English language novel I ever read. I knew the Oldest House before I even put the disc in, I've read that book three-times now. The whole book inspired the game. I didn't know that, I just kept feeling odd deja vu and then I started talking about the game. It was night after night of me playing it then explaining (through spoilers) how it related to the book. People were curious and engaged in what must have been a very long conversation.
Playing Control really was like going home, and having a character like Jesse who was so vocal in her own mind really helped. I type up a storm but rarely talk, I don't find speech all that necessary, I learn more by listening. So finding a character like that was such a good feeling. It felt perfect. I actually felt depressed when platinum popped, I didn't want to leave the Oldest House, it became a kind of mirror of real life. I felt safe inside it's walls, it wasn't a psychological Horror to me, it felt really calming and really did accommodate casual exploration, just enough room to experiment, and it worked.
I agree with Jesse except that each dimension for me is a forum or a chatroom. That game helped me in a big way, Remedy weren't intending that result, nor was I expecting it.
@GirlVersusGame that's pretty deep. It's always cool to see how others feel while playing a game and how it relates to them. The experience everyone has with the same game can be so different and I don't mean good or bad but more so on a personal level.
For me games and anime (sometimes good tv shows and movies) are my escape. My mind is always running and thinking about the next steps regarding work or family or what have you. But when I play a game or watch an anime, I just stop thinking about things and get immersed in what I'm playing/watching. My mind actually gets some rest when I engage myself in those activities, if that makes sense lol. That's why even when I get old and retire in 25-30 years I'll still continue to play games and watch anime.
Also, I had no idea the game was based on a book. I'll have to check it out.
@TheArt It will get an 8. Control got 8’s typically despite so obviously being worthy of higher. Ooh look a studio who actually don’t make paint-by-numbers games. Can’t give that more than an 8. The studio just don’t fail - they make games with wonderful playability for your casual observer which always double up as subversive social commentary if you’ve got the appetite for that. Far safer giving the high marks to a studio who make the same game every time, right?
@GirlVersusGame I think subversively the game kinda does make the comment more broadly that a lot of what we have constructed as ‘normal’ in society (going to offices and complying with office protocol) is actually extremely, insanely weird when you take a step back from it and look at it without the formative conditioning we get in our lives which tells us it’s not really messed up and really bizarre!
@TheArt I got Wolverine for 55 on Amazon
@The_Hooligan I only recently started watching shows. I wanted to be active in the television thread. I started with old British comedy then went from there. Movies are different, I had a late start there too and started watching six to eight per-day. I do all of that to keep my mind active, I think people would like to have all of the time in the world and I'm sure they earned it, I didn't and sitting idle would quickly drive me crazy. Gaming is one of many hobbies, stagnation would be self destruction.
I've seen five Animes and mainly game to keep my mind active, push some boundaries, try a lot of the mundane things in simulators and to create and build. I don't play many narrative driven games but certain people on here know me well enough to recommend games that really do stick. From talking to others in the community I know they are dealing with their own somethings. Gaming is there for them too, movies, music, television and I'm sure Anime too. I've only watched five of those. With movies it's thousands and it was the first thread here that I dived into. We ended up talking all night, the same for music. People here do have a lot of varied interests, just not the time to always pursue them.
The book is called House of Leaves and it's by Mark Z. Danielewski. If you played Alan Wake and heard the song 'Haunted', then you were listening to his sister. Sam Lake likes both the book and the music. I only found the book because of her. I'd just moved to England and when I heard that song I couldn't stop listening. I wanted to know what it was about and why I could understand it when I could hardly speak that language. I found out about the book and went about reading it. I say reading but it's actually more than your average book. It has text in multiple languages, text is sometimes backwards or upside down, things trail off into madness, there are puzzles, poems and pictures.
The whole thing is one giant enigma and journey into insanity. It's not just a mental exercise, I had to keep rotating the pages and needed a mirror for the backwards text. That's just one example of what I mean, some people have been trying to finish it for years. It gets inside a person's head, drags them down and puts them into a really uncomfortable situation. If you've ever seen the John Carpenter movie In The Mouth of Madness with Sam Neil, he loses his mind, that's what it felt like reading the book. It's also very inwards like Jesse. Other authors refer to it as a kind of Russian nesting doll of claustrophobic psychological discomfort and they are right. A lot of readers warn anyone with depression, anxiety or a loose grip on reality to steer clear. It definitely promotes and amplifies existential dread too, I found it to be really cathartic, most don't. They fear the house and want out, I fear your world and want to stay in, so I do.
@SodaPop6548 This is exactly my kind of game with fast paced melee combat.I found the 1st game very boring with a stale female protagonist.
@LordAinsley You should have waited for the game to be on PS Plus Extra.
@Totheteeth I think subversively the game kinda does make the comment more broadly that a lot of what we have constructed as ‘normal’ in society (going to offices and complying with office protocol) is actually extremely, insanely weird when you take a step back from it and look at it without the formative conditioning we get in our lives which tells us it’s not really messed up and really bizarre!
I watched The Office recently after BearEatsBeets explained his name. If offices are really like that then brilliant, but I doubt they are. The part of the game (I'm being careful with spoilers) that did feature an office, that kind of repetition of striving and grinding but ultimately getting no where, made me glad not to have experienced it for real. I don't think people deserve to be locked into that kind of cycle. Humans need to thrive not just survive. I do try to do both by filling my life with learning, I'm not sure how anyone else does that if they are locked into that cycle of survival. If anything that part of the game was the only one true moment of terror. I play stacks of simulators to experience and experiment with different jobs and professions, they all have carefully built reward systems. Real life doesn't, people seem to grind until they retire or die, I think the system is broken but if I say that offline People really will think I've gone bonkers. So like Jesse I keep it to myself and ponder through my day, it's safer that way.
@Totheteeth Lol yeah but wasn't really talking about Push[ ] though, was talking the overall Metacritic score will be higher I bet.
@RazielReaver why? buying it now means I can play it now
Gonna play this on my asus laptop gaming. Hopefully it’s run decent. Sold my fat ps5 long ago and now im regret lol
