I personally think the fall out over the scent trails in Marvel’s Wolverine may be one of the biggest overreactions in recent gaming memory, but fair play to Insomniac for responding to the (often robust) feedback.

It’s already included options to disable the feature for collectibles, and reduced the opacity of them so they’re less egregious.

But now it’s (presumably) concluded its work on this with the inclusion of a ‘Hint’ toggle button during story sequences, as part of a new patch.

Ultimately, by pressing the R3 button, you’ll be able to toggle these narrative-related scent trails on and off.

The dev says: “Alongside previous updates, players now have more control over the visibility of Scents, Audio Cues, and Nightmare Roots based on community feedback.”

The newest update also cleans up some minor crashes and bugs, so the game should be running a lot smoother now.

It’ll be interesting to see where the dev focuses the attention of its future updates. New content, perhaps? Let’s wait and see.
