That Zombie game could low key be pretty fun with a couple of buddies. If we can get 1 or 2 fun weekends out of it and its free, thats what PS Plus is all about for me.
If this bothers you then you are petty and small minded. Everyone should get to enjoy games like HZD and Days Gone. Or even GoW if that ever ports over. Get over yourself.
Honestly they could still screw this up a lot more in the coming weeks, and the PS5 will sell like crazy. The games are just...so good. They are frankly off to a pretty terrible start from a marketing standpoint and I am still going to buy this thing day 1.
I can't live my life knowing God of War 2 is out there somewhere and not be able to play it.
It's a little early to even have this conversation in my mind. After the hardware Sony just moved this cycle I can't imagine they actually market their big upcoming exclusives on PC even remotely close to when they are gonna launch on PS5.
The other side to look at too is if SSD, 4k 60 frames is the new standard next cycle then the draw for PC gaming is also just not as appealing. Id still rather play on a 65 inch tv with HDR support. Horizon looks soooo good in HDR.
This isn't going to make me go sign up for Stadia, it is just going to make me resent them. To be fair I don't like it when Sony or MS does this either.
It has got to be small indie games though. I can't imagine any major developer delaying the release of their new games in 2020. Especially with the console refresh coming.
@JudaiMasters This exactly. 60 fps standard (or higher) and an SSD are what is going to really feel next gen. The games will all look beautiful on any console regardless. I am curious about the audio capabilities too that seems to be being overlooked a little bit with these rumors.
Its gotta be Witcher 3. God of War is a close second but I put so many more hours into Witcher. Those ridiculously good time consuming side quests...and the unicorn.
All of the gamers I know on PC and Xbox only use one or two paddles on the elite controller anyway. It essentially allows them to jump and move/aim without ever taking their thumbs off the joysticks. $30 bucks to make this happen instead of paying three times that for a Pro controller is an excellent option. Could see this being in handy for MMOs or Frostpunk type games too if they allow for extra inputs not on a native controller.
@leucocyte you are not wrong. they will get away with it because it will sell millions anyway. saying xbox did it first with TR doesn't make it okay though. thats all i was getting at. the industry seems to be shifting towards cross play and this kind of thing shouldn't be brushed under the table. regardless of what system you play on.
@GodGamer If you want to just say loot boxes and missing an entire mode in a game are the same thing then there is no point in arguing with you. And this does affect me because I have friends that play on PC which I clearly stated. I am not a fan of loot boxes or timed exclusives but saying "it doesn't effect me so who cares" or "waaahhh xbox did it first" still makes you part of the problem.
Map packs and timed DLC is not even close to being on the same level as an entire mode missing for an entire year from the start. This should not be the norm going forward in any capacity. The industry is shifting towards cross-play so saying "i don't care" now is pretty short sighted. Sony and Activision should be ashamed of themselves. I love my PS4 and was pumped to play zombies with some of my PC buddies. We will see if only 1% of the consumers cancels their pre-order.
Cloud gaming is exciting to an extent but it is still more of a supplementary thing to me. I would sub for a month to play a specific game on Xcloud like gears or halo. Maybe a shooter on Stadia that feels better with mouse and keyboard. I still want a nice piece of hardware under my TV though and the PS5 should check all the boxes.
Any fellow PC gamers in here will tell you the solid state drive alone will be a huge QoL improvement. If the PS5 can make 60 fps and 4k standard at around $499 or less it will move 100 million units just like the PS4 will by the end of this year. That is a fantastic value. And I for one will be a very happy gamer.
@Grindagger you can get a brand name terabyte SSD for under $100 bucks now pretty regularly. Sony will buy in bulk obviously and probably get custom hybrid ssd drives or something so it will be even cheaper. If they actually put a graphics card in this thing capable of 8k gaming that will be what jacks up the price beyond 600 bucks. I would still buy it too haha. Good investment they never skimp on components.
The solid state drive will be a huge QoL improvement. It's not a "sexy" upgrade but people will immediately appreciate it more than ray tracing or 8k future proofing when it launches next year.

Re: Poll: Are You Playing Borderlands 4?
The FoV thing really turned me off. Such a weird decision.
Re: Poll: How Much Would You Pay for the DualSense Edge PS5 Pro Controller?
Im more interested in a 12 month warranty. Scuff and similar "pro" controllers with a 6 month are suspect.

Re: Crysis Remastered Officially Dated for 18th September on PS4
Id still take 60 fps over ray tracing. A "remaster" of a game that came out 13 years ago still running at 30 fps just doesn't feel right.

Re: PS5 Comes with 825GB of Internal Storage on SSD
Yeah this is a big miss Sony. Here is a new SSD capable of rendering bigger more immersive worlds. Also its smaller.
I think its safe to assume game file sizes aren't going to shrink next gen...
