I’m completely over this game. The last game released on a console 2 generations ago I bet this next one will be a PS6 title. The dev cycle these days is *****, unsustainable and tiring for the devs and the customers. It’s just not worth the investment.
@Fartingale I agree. The amateurish sprites, janky geometry and messiness combined with really vivid 16bit textures is something to behold. Modern games look washed out abd souless.
@nessisonett too true. Driveclub was a real looker and not because of the graphics but more the style of the graphics. It was larger than life and oozed style. Give me that over the ultra realistic but ultimately boring looking grab turismo games.
I hate statements like this. Sony is a huge company which should be capable of listening to its fan base and making rational decisions about games that will sell. Why should the onus be on the customer to rebuy games they own just to “show willing”. ***** right off.
The PlayStation 5 has been a completely forgettable console and it’s due to squandering the time, money and effort of great developers on greedy get-rich-quick schemes. As someone who hugely supported every Sony console and bought hundreds of titles for each system, i have no enthusiasm for a PlayStation 6 and will be exclusively Nintendo from now on.
Lots of love to Steeleye. Hoping things get better and look less gloomy for you, man. I’ve had a bout of depression in recent months and haven’t felt like gaming but on your recommendation, I’ll pick up astrobot. If it can give you some joy, fingers crossed it’ll do the same for me. Stay strong!
He’s lucky that it made the game at all. The main character of days gone is the dullest, most obvious walking dead reject character I’ve ever seen. If this guy wasn’t consistently banging on about how sore he is, no one would remember that game at all - especially the drab character design.
That advert is painful. The trine games would be so much more popular if they could design some interesting characters instead of the super generic ones they use.
And anyway, none of this really matters because I predict that in a few years, whether you agree with it or not, AI game making will be a huge thing so developers, artists, writers will have an even harder job than they do now
I do think games have lost their way a bit and it’s been happening gradually since the ps3. The ps2 was the perfect harmony of decent graphics with a realistic turnaround and the immense possibilities of creativity. If a new IP didn’t hit a home run, it often wouldn’t sink the studio and they could try again. The issue now is that companies spend 10 years making this huge, bloated game that nearly always plays it too safe and is ultimately just a collection of tried and true ideas that ultimately feel formulaic and (personally) give me the sense of de ja vu.
Who cares anyway? There are hundreds of amazing games that are already out and coming out in the near future. You can just play any of those rather than some vapourware game that doesn’t seem to have progressed from the initial concept stage (hence the need for a lead writer?!) it’s been 15 years, you’d have thought they’d have at least nailed down the story by this point.
I still play my PSVR when I get the chance. Some of my favourite gaming experiences in the last 10 years have been with the PSVR: Wipeout is astounding and probably the best showcase in my opinion and the graphics are astonishing to me. Polybius is also brilliant and really scratches a certain itch. Obviously astrobot is truly brilliant and gave me the same ‘feels’ as the first time I played Mario 64!
@kingv84 Thank you for this sage advice. The next time I receive a preordered game from CD Project Red (in 2030 probably) I will be sure to leave it sealed for a week while I wait for the reviews.
I requested a refund from thegamecollection but got denied because I’d opened the game. The fact that there were no reviews meant I had no way of knowing the quality of the game before release so I don’t think that’s fair. Contacted cd project Red through the email that was provided a week ago but no response so far. On the plus side, I’ve been playing yakuza: like a dragon, which is everything cyberpunk is not. It has heart, it’s not a total mess and it’s actually fun.

If it’s good, people will buy it.

Hopefully the fact that there is a lower spec version bodes well for a VR version

Re: Freelance Artist Attempts to Redesign PS5, PC Flop Concord's Cast
Generic art style with very little creativity apart from BIGGER GUNS and some corny edgelord ***** doesn’t improve on the already mediocre designs.

£800 so that I can play a few patched ps4 games with better graphics… ok

Now this is how you celebrate a milestone!
A demo for a 5 year old game, some soundtracks on a streaming service you have to pay for and some magnets that you can buy.
