Nintendo has struggled in the UK historically, with their home consoles struggling in the market which has been dominated by SEGA and Sony (as well as Microsoft for a period during the 360 era). But since the release of the Switch, they have been very successful in the UK, with the Switch outselling Xbox One in the region and their games frequently being in the charts. PlayStation has the bigger brand recognition here and the games that appeal to the UK market more, but that won't stop Switch 2 from being successful here. I definitely do feel Nintendo will continue to do their best to get more push in the UK market. I've seen a ton of different deals for Black Friday with Switch 2 from the standard console, to the MK bundle to even MK and Donkey Kong Bananza together for a cheaper price. Not insane deals like the PS5 ones but still decent offerings for a system that has only been out half a year. I own both systems and enjoy them, but right now the Switch 2 has been taking up my time. The Pro Controller 2 is my new favourite controller and there are tons of first and third party games to play on it. As someone who felt like the only person to be interested in Nintendo during the 3DS and Wii U days, it's nice to see them doing well here.
@UltimateOtaku91 Outside of Pokemon Game Freak is free to make whatever games for whatever platforms they want. In the past they made an exclusive game for Mega Drive published by SEGA and another for PlayStation published by Sony Music Entertainment. Tempo The Badass Elephant, another game developed by Game Freak in 2015, released on PS4, Xbox One and PC but skipped Wii U and 3DS. Giga Wrecker and Pocket Card Jockey were also made for mobile first by them before releasing on Switch later
I don't buy it. Sony is a company that very loudly and proudly flexes timed exclusivity. Just look at games like FF7R, FF16 and SH2. Those games not only featured heavily in their State of Play shows, but stated the period of exclusivity and many also had billboards with "PS5 Console Exclusive" all over the place. Sony did not show Wukong at all in State of Play nor did they use PS5 Console Exclusive as a marketing push for the game. There's no way Sony was so loud about all those along with the COD exclusive content they use to have but a game about a monkey from China was where they drew the line and had to be secret about exclusives
Considering many of these were smaller games dropped onto PS5 in a short time with a lack of marketing the lower sales are not surprising. Sea of Thieves felt like it actually got pushed at least. Even then AA games weren't going to be crazy sellers here. More interested in seeing how Forza and Indiana Jones do as bigger titles, not to mention games releasing day one like Doom and Outer Wilds 2
Having a stellar time playing Stellar Blade. After FF7 Rebirth wore me out I've spent the last few weeks tackling smaller games on the Switch like Another Code, Super Mario RPG, Paranormasight and Ghost Trick. Will be playing this until Endless Ocean Luminous drops. Still need to play Unicorn Overlord though, why must game developers drop so much so close?
Stellar Blade and Helldivers 2 both respecting PS5 storage space where other games are taking up nearly 100GB or more (looking at you Rise of the Ronin and FF7 Rebirth)
@DennisReynolds Back in November Push Square published an article announcing that Shift Up was signed on as one of Sony's first second party partners in Korea. This deal is probably similar to something like Quantic Dream where Shift Up develops several games as PS5 exclusives which will get funding, assistance from Sony's XDEV team and be published by SIE as PS Studios games. It'll be interesting to see what else they work on after Stellar Blade
Still haven't finished FF7 Rebirth and got Unicorn Overlord and Rise of the Ronin staring at me. I did try Rise of the Ronin briefly, can see what some of the reviews meant but need to give in more time first and see if it picks up beyond the opening
More Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. Unfortunately I don't think I'll finish in time for Rise of the Ronin. Still got Unicorn Overlord as well, there's too many games releasing this month
Was actually considering buying Dragon Ball Z Kakarot after Toriyama's death but with the PS5 version coming to Extra that won't be needed. I'll give it a go around May when game releases slow down. FF7 Rebirth, Unicorn Overlord, Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade are gonna keep me busy
More Final Fantasy VII Rebirth this weekend which continues to suck me in with the side content. Unicorn Overlord arrived today but whether I get to playing it yet is another question
Am I the only one not shocked by this? FF7 is such an important part of PlayStation history no way would Sony not try to keep this game tied to their platform when the remake eventually happened. When the game didn't go to Xbox next to the PC release in June 2022 that pretty much settled it for me in the games not coming to Xbox. Many SE games may not perform well on Xbox but FF is their biggest series so SE skipping the platform only made sense in that they had a deal with Sony for doing that
Like many of us here I will be playing Rebirth this weekend. Thankfully I was able to finish Persona 3 Reload in time for it. No idea how I managed two big JRPGs like Infinite Wealth and Reload in a month but I did. March is gonna be just as chaotic with Unicorn Overlord, Hi-Fi Rush and Rise of the Ronin dropping
With Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth finally finished my attention is now turned onto Persona 3 Reload which I am very much enjoying. It heavily improves on the original and the gameplay is so much better which is one of the issues I had with the original. Just hope I can beat it in time for FF7 Rebirth
Another weekend and I'm still playing Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth. Two chapters to go until story is finished and have done most of the game's side content so think I should be finishing things up. After that I intend to start playing Persona 3 Reload which should keep me busy up until FF7 Rebirth
I would usually be playing Persona games day one but LAD Infinite Wealth gets priority so that one is gonna be a while yet especially when FF7 Rebirth is also out later in the month
Well deserved, been playing it as much as I can the last week and it's an excellent experience that deserves the sales. You know the game is good when the biggest complaint you see is NG+ locked behind a paywall
Not perfect but easily one of the better State of Plays. Stellar Blade and Rise of the Ronin both look great, not far off from release. Death Stranding 2 and talks of a new IP with SIE after DS2 development, along with looks at other games. Dave the Diver coming to PS is neat too, started playing on Steam Deck and loved it. Very tempted to double dip
About time we got one. My expectations aren't high after how lackluster last year's showings were but hopefully this will be better. At least Rise of the Ronin and Stellar Blade have been mentioned which is a good start, been wanting to see more of those, especially Stellar Blade which went quiet all of last year until 3 days before 2024 where they said it's not coming out (pretends to be shocked)
I feel like Hi-Fi Rush has more chance of coming to Switch than PS5 but if it came to either I'd gladly buy it again. Absolutely loved it on Steam Deck and we'd actually stand a chance of a physical release on other systems
Sticking to one game per month due to how much is coming out. LAD Infinite Wealth, FFVII Rebirth and Rise of the Ronin for me. Granblue Fantasy Relink, P3 Reload and Unicorn Overlord will be nabbed later on sale
LAD Infinite Wealth and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth are my most anticipated for the year. Will have my eye on Rise of the Ronin, Stellar Blade, P3 Reload, Granblue Fantasy Relink and Metaphor though. Just those two are the priority cause nothing compares to them for me
Think this is a fair rating for FFXVI. Not for everyone and has flaws but I still had an incredible time with it. The music was incredible, some of the most hype boss fights I've seen and I loved the characters, although the gameplay was hit and miss. Definitely worth trying out, it's one of my favourite games of the year
648 hours on PS5 this year. Final Fantasy XVI was my most played title with 100 hours, followed by Octopath Traveler II at 98 hours, Persona 4 Golden at 87, Like A Dragon Ishin at 56 and Persona 5 Tactica at 51
@ED_209 Sony is releasing TLOU Part 2 Remaster, Helldivers 2 and Rise of the Ronin in the first three months of 2024, that's more crazy than their 2023 line up which was VR games, Horizon DLC and Spider-Man 2. TLOU2 admittedly is an old title with new content but even then Helldivers and Ronin are new titles dropping
Finished Persona 5 Tactica's story last night and just working on the DLC, then NG+ to get the Platinum. After that Star Ocean Second Story R or buying Alan Wake 2 with £20 off from the gift card I got from PS Stars
I don't think this game would have been a crazy seller but SEGA releasing this at £55, more than Sonic Frontiers at £49.99 and right next to Mario Wonder which was at a lower price, alongside Spider-Man 2, was a terrible decision they should have seen coming from a mile
@MrMagic It's funny to me people are acting like Jim immediately retired and isn't making any more decisions when he's there until March 2024 and PS is saved now, making great decisions. He's still doing things and with how slow the output has been this gen we probably won't see what his successor does until late PS5 to PS6 gen at this point
@Ravix Yeah I hope the awards are more spread out and it isn't just BG3 winning everything. I felt like that was happening last year with Elden Ring and God of War Ragnarok in most categories. With so many great games having released this year, I'd like to see it fleshed out so these titles get the rewards they deserve
Can't see anything else other than BG3 or TOTK winning GOTY, but with how much critics have been digging BG3 I think that's a safe win with plenty of awards alongside it. I can see Alan Wake 2 being a popular winner for awards too
Interested in Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth, Granblue Fantasy Relink, Persona 3 Reload, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Unicorn Overload. It's going to be hell in February. I'm incredibly annoyed by SEGA dropping Infinite Wealth and Reload, both games with the potential to be 100+ hours long, a week apart. At least Gaiden and Tactica releasing a week apart are smaller, shorter spinoffs that don't take too long. I'll be stuck into Infinite Wealth when Relink and Reload drop, then by the time I get a moment to jump into those Rebirth will be out, followed by Unicorn Overlord. Tough schedule, I can only hope Nintendo doesn't shadow drop anything on Switch around that time, or Metaphor and Rise of the Ronin don't release too close to any of those. It's nice to get some excellent JRPGs to play on PS5 but not this many at once, give us some breathing room Japanese devs, I beg you

2) Final Fantasy XVI
3) Like A Dragon Gaiden The Man Who Erased His Name
4) Marvel's Spider-Man 2
