Re: Random: Fans Can't Believe Halo Is Coming to PS5 Before Killzone

RavenDuskwood

While I have entertained the idea of a Killzone Trilogy Reboot or Remaster, and disappointed to hear Guerrilla say they're 'done' with Killzone (Oct 2024). I am not surprised to see Halo on the Playstation, something I did predict it about 22 years ago on the old EG platform, and certainly got a lot of schtick for it, especially from the XBX fan's.

Re: Gargantuan Black Myth: Wukong PS5 Patch Massively Improves Performance

RavenDuskwood

It won't make the Game File over 200GB! That's just stupidity if you believe it! The 90GB patch is just replacing existing files, not adding new ones. When a big data file changes, the console has to re-download the whole thing even if only a few parts were updated. After it installs, the old files get deleted. That’s why the game size only went from 107GB to 108GB.

Re: These New PS1 Toy Capsules Are Worth the Price of a Flight to Tokyo

RavenDuskwood

I have no need to fly to Japan, my Brother lives in Tokyo and collects them then sends them over with other Christmas gifts. He knows I am a collector.....I have over two thousand Gachapon, including PS2, Tekken, Pokemon, Akira (all the bikes). I have been collecting for 30 years. There was a Gachapon store in Affleck's Palace in Manchester, not sure if it is still there.

Re: More Red Dead Redemption 2 PS5 Port Speculation Emerges

RavenDuskwood

@Questionable_Duck NateTheHate has had a mixed record with insider info. He once claimed Starfield was coming to PS5, but later retracted that, admitting it was a lapse in judgment—and to this day, Starfield remains an Xbox and PC exclusive with no confirmed plans for PS5. He predicted a revival of F-Zero in 2023, which never happened. He also suggested a Switch 2 reveal in late 2022 or early 2023, which was premature—but the system did eventually launch in June 2025, so the core idea wasn't wrong, just early. On Final Fantasy VII, he claimed both Remake Intergrade and Rebirth were coming to Xbox before Switch 2. As of now, Remake Intergrade has been officially confirmed for Xbox Series X|S (launching winter 2025), but Rebirth still hasn’t been announced for Xbox—though some leaks suggest it could arrive in 2026. Overall, while Nate has had some accurate scoops, his track record shows a pattern of premature or overly specific predictions, so his claims are worth watching but should be taken with caution.

Re: BioWare Flop ANTHEM Dies January 2026, Servers to Be Turned Off

RavenDuskwood

@nomither6 I have never played Anthem, but I do still own games that never received official patches that had servers shut down. People who played games before you were likely born will know what I am talking about, because back then you could get a custom or private server to play a defunct game. Like Mythos, that was a great game.

Re: Talking Point: Is Forza Horizon 5's PS5 Price Point Too High?

RavenDuskwood

Growing up for me, the price of games were approximately £29.99 ($34.99), the price I paid for Dizzy Egg for my Atari Amstrad desktop gaming machine. I don't remember when the price changed, but I do think anything above £59.99 has to be truly special!! I do think Forza is about right in the price band.

Re: PS5 Fans Are Pondering the Point of Days Gone Remastered After Graphics Comparison Emerges

RavenDuskwood

@nessisonett I agree with you on Infamous, both Second Son and First Light would be great remasters. I think The Order 1886 looks amazing as it is and would truly benefit from a PS5 update patch to allow 4K at 60fps (or 120fps if you have the screen for it) and maybe updated textures. I personally would love to see the original Killzone Trilogy from PS2/PS3 completely rebuilt and I would pay £60+ for it.

Re: PS5 Fans Are Pondering the Point of Days Gone Remastered After Graphics Comparison Emerges

I discussed with friend several months ago, a remastered version of any game like Days Gone is not worth my money, especially if a sequel was not happening. I did however, buy the $10 upgrade to Horizon Zero Dawn because I have Forbidden West and because this game will be a complete trilogy. Days Gone though, no, I will not be wasting my money and time on it......unless a sequel happens, I will probably get the remaster then.

Re: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown's Reported 1.3 Million Sales Not Enough for Ubisoft

RavenDuskwood

In my opinion, if Ubisoft had dedicated their efforts to a full, polished remake of the Sands of Time saga instead of the underwhelming version they previewed back in 2020, it likely would have sold far more than the 1.3 million units it managed. I’ll admit, I own the game—it was actually a gift—but even though I completed it, I was left feeling rather unimpressed. I’m not questioning the talent of Ubisoft’s creative team, as the game does look great, but I can’t help but feel that the decisions made by the higher-ups—especially the mindset of "Gamers don’t know what they want"—comes off as incredibly arrogant. But, anyway, I digress…in the end, it’s disappointing to see such an iconic franchise fall short of its potential. With the right direction and respect for what made Sands of Time so beloved, it could have been a standout in today’s market. Hopefully, Ubisoft learns from this and gives fans what they truly want in the future.

Re: Feature: 18 PS5 Predictions for 2025

RavenDuskwood

Take this with a pinch of salt! But over the Christmas week the Wife and I went to Washington (she is from there) and had Christmas with her Brother as we didn't go for Thanksgiving. Her brother works for Halo Studios (formerly 343 Industries, if you're out of the loop) and he let slip he has Halo Master Chief Collection running on a PS5 Dev Kit.

So fingers crossed this may happen, if you want Halo on PS5 (and I recently read Swith 2?).

Re: Square Enix Wonders Why Life is Strange: Double Exposure Didn't Work Out

RavenDuskwood

As a long-time fan of the Life is Strange series, I went into Double Exposure hoping to find the same level of emotional depth, relatable characters, and compelling narratives that the franchise is known for. Unfortunately, the game left me disappointed, and I wanted to share why.

The biggest issue for me was how much of the plot felt recycled. The premise is yet another story about a protagonist with time-manipulation powers trying to unravel a personal tragedy. While that idea worked well in the original Life is Strange, here it feels formulaic and uninspired. Instead of introducing fresh storylines or taking the series in a new direction, the game relies on predictable twists and themes we’ve already seen. Compared to Before the Storm, which provided meaningful character backstories, or True Colors, which added a unique empathy mechanic, Double Exposure feels like it’s treading old ground without offering anything new.

The characters didn’t help, either. One of the series’ strongest aspects has always been its vibrant and relatable cast, but the characters here felt flat and uninteresting. The protagonist lacked the charm of Max Caulfield or Alex Chen, and the supporting characters were either stereotypes or poorly fleshed out. It was hard to feel emotionally invested in any of them, which is a stark contrast to how much I cared about Chloe, Rachel, and even Steph in the earlier games.

On top of that, the gameplay didn’t add much to the experience. The new mechanic involving “layering” memories had potential but felt clunky and underdeveloped. It didn’t integrate into the story as naturally as the powers in previous games. For a series that’s known for its creativity and emotional storytelling, this felt like a missed opportunity to do something innovative.

The writing also felt like a noticeable step down. Dialogue, which has always been a major strength of the Life is Strange games, came across as forced and unnatural this time. The emotional beats didn’t hit as hard because the writing lacked the authenticity and subtlety that made the earlier entries so impactful.

Looking back, each previous game brought something unique to the table. The original Life is Strange had its groundbreaking story and mechanics, Before the Storm added depth to beloved characters, and True Colors gave us a fresh mechanic with a tightly written narrative. In contrast, Double Exposure feels like a shadow of its predecessors, relying too heavily on old ideas without bringing anything new to the series.

There are a few moments where the game shines, but they’re fleeting and only serve to remind me of what this series is capable of at its best. For a franchise that has always pushed boundaries, this entry feels like it’s stuck in the past. As much as I wanted to love Double Exposure, it just didn’t live up to the standards set by the earlier games.

This is just my opinion.

Re: Happy 30th Birthday to PlayStation

RavenDuskwood

Christmas 1995, I saved enough money from my Birthdays and house chores and Christmas money from grandparents, my Dad took me to Toys'r'us in Bolton and I got a Playstation with Destruction Dery, Wipeout and Rayman. Best Christmas Ever!!

I remember booting it up, that wonderful noise it made, Wipeout was my game of choice and that first race in wipeout was introduced with The Prodigy, Firestarter....awesome!!
