If you can actually believe it, Capcom's making a new Onimusha game. Finally!
Titled Onimusha: Way of the Sword, it's coming to PS5... in 2026. Okay, so it's not the release window we would have liked, but you know Capcom's cooking based on this reveal trailer. The game already looks very promising.

I'm losing my mind.
It's not Resident Evil, but MY GOODNESS. I'll take it!
Have not played Onimisha but this looks dope, I still really want to see more of Pragmata. I'm genuinely thinking that game is gonna get silently cancelled.
I'm super excited.
I never really got into the series like that, but it’s nice that Capcom is bringing it back.
Bro I was jumping up and down
That's crazy, it's been what, 20 years almost?
N.i.c.e. lets go.capcom is so legendary.onimusha way of the sword looks excellent. I believe that was one of the oh ***** i can believe this game is being announced that a lot of people was talking about.word up son
I wish they would have brought the second game to modern consoles I loved that game.
I guess tonight was worth getting excited for..
CapGods! You did it! I'm stoked!
I'm quite hype but is it just me that the protags face looks like Miyamoto Musashi from the recent Onimusha anime but he's younger?
Also, i'm curious if this a reboot or continuation after Dawn of Dreams...
I wish Capcom remaster Onimusha 2, 3, and Dawn of Dreams while waiting for this game.
Literally cried
I loved playing onimusha on ps2.. i can honestly say it’s been missed.
Capcom is killing it. It's so wonderful to see them in this new Renaissance. Just going off what they've accomplished recently, I don't see any reason to think this won't be a banger. Exciting stuff
It’s been so looooooooong. But he’s back!!!!!
Capcom ****ing killed it tonight… let’s go!!!!
CAP.
F***ING.
GOD.
BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
I know there was leaks of a Onimusha sequel but still great to see this officially confirmed. Capcom is on fire again.
this is a very surprising announcement because capcom couldn't even be bothered to port the remaining onimusha games to modern platforms. after they released the remaster to the first game, there wasn't even a whisper. people speculated that meant it sold poorly and the franchise was officially dead. what strange behaviour then to secretly be working on a new entry without porting the other 3 games? huh... let's see how closely capcom goes back to onimusha's survival horror roots vs the more action based sequels... this will be interesting.
As soon as I seen the red souls in my heart I was like it's Onimusha. Then the gauntlet lighting up to absorb them. Game of the show for me
Capcom having been going crazy last few years...long wait but I cannot wait
Now we just need Breath of Fire to come back and all will be good.
@twitchy_emu92 hopefully Capcom making a new game will push them to re-release 2, 3 and Dawn of Dreams in the meantime to drum up hype for Way of the Sword. Fingers crossed
@Cloud39472 I think Dino Crisis has more chance make a comeback than Breath of Fire
@PuppetMaster Damn. Forgot about Dino Crisis, that needs to come back too. Seeing Onimusha and Okami getting new games gives me lots of hope though.
I’ve waited so long for this announcement.
@Fizza Such a great little intro! Onimusha 1- 3 were incredible!
I was even a fan of their weird smash bros. like spin-off. Was great fun with friends!
@Cloud39472 We also need Viewtiful Joe, Strider, Clock Tower, God Hand, and Haunting Ground to make a comeback.
But yeah, with new Okami and Onimusha, i think there's a big chance we will see plenty of revival for classic Capcom games.
I love the Onimusha series, I did like the third in the series with Jean Reno. To be honest, I would like the whole series rebooted using the RE Engine.
I love this series and it's so good to see a lot of love in the comments. 2026 can't come fast enough.
Feels like.... I'll be playing this in Japanese
Hello there fellow gamers;
This was definitely a BIG anouncement.
As a HUGE Onimusha fan who´s been waiting years for a new entry, I´m beyond happy it´s finaly happening.
And like my friend @Fizza is saying, is Capcom becoming the CAPGOD of old?
It sure feels like it and we are here to enjoy it.
Cheers and happy gaming everyone
"I must believe in the Oni...it...WILL GUIDE ME!" We're so back lol
I'm a little worried, that they've turn it into a Souls game. I'm getting that vibe from the look of the actual gameplay in the trailer.
Really hope this has Japanese audio. Otherwise very happy to see a favorite franchise of mine back. Could use a remaster of 2-4 so I can retire my PS2.
Absolutely adored the first couple games, wasn’t too sure on the third and never played the fourth, but very excited to see this return - the atmosphere is truly special across the games, and looks like it’s intact here!
