Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Soars Past 1 Million Players at Launch

Perturbator

@ChrisDeku Those examples are more fair, although they are from quite a while ago (6-7 years ago) whilst KCD2 and MHW are recent releases which were originally supposed to go head to head with Shadows in February, until that was delayed to March instead.

There may be some differences between console and PC gamer habits, but if anything I'd say that Monster Hunter has a more defined console background than Assassin's Creed.

I guess we'll only know Shadows real sales numbers whenever Ubisoft wants to disclose them, though.

Re: Next PS5 Battlefield Gameplay Floods Internet, Remains Online

@MaelysLeFleau No I played them long after launch (like a little over a year ago), but still found them very uninspired. Especially the desert map Hourglass which is probably be the worst BF map I've ever played.

The leaked environments of next BF look promising so far though. It always takes a few hours of playing to get a proper opinion of maps so we'll see.

Re: Insomniac Delists, Relists VR Catalogue, and Few Even Noticed

These games are in an unfortunate situation in that they are the remnant of Oculus PCVR market that doesn't really exist anymore. Most of Meta's Quest users are using their headsets for standalone VR only, and then there's a smaller Meta userbase that use headsets for wireless/wired PCVR connectivity. And these users (of which I am part) mainly use Steam PCVR games or VR mods. Meta's PCVR store is sort of like a deadmall frozen in time.

I can't imagine these Oculus games selling much more than a few hundred copies each year, if that, and so they're probably not very important to Insomniac or Meta. Perhaps one day they can be relaunched when standalone is powerful enough to run them, but I kinda doubt it.

@SquawkingTurtle Don't worry I'm fine.

But we never know how long people have of course. There's bound to have been some commenters on this site that passed away over the years, but if they weren't in the top 1% most active posters, most users probably wouldn't notice their absence. Kinda sad isn't it?

Re: Bad Handling of Demon's Souls PS3 Meant Sony Missed Out on Dark Souls Publishing

I loved it from first sight after reading about it in Eurogamer at the time, and had to import it because it wasn't available in Europe yet. But having read that article and being very into Monster Hunter on PSP, I was somewhat prepared for it. If Shuhei (and others) went into it playing it like a typical hack and slash game, it's no wonder they were easily dissuaded by the punishing rules of the game.
