Re: Horizon Forbidden West on PS5 Pro Is 'Pure Eye Candy at Race Car Levels of Performance'

@KilloWertz Well, performance mode should be stable and they achieved it.

As for the whole graphic debate, much have been said and written but Rebirth is visually much more striking, imposing and ambitious than Remake: it's a full world with huge environments and open areas vs a series of corridors ands confined locations.
I was constantly amazed it could run with that grade of visual fidelity at that scale: it's pretty magical tbh and it hit me with a sense of technical wonderment and awe I had missed in JRPGs since the early days of the 32-bit era. It's the rare game I decided to play at 30fps but when I occasionally switched to 60fps for the occasional challenging fight, I was glad it was actually something smooth and not as choppy as the performance mode of FF16.
Now don't get me wrong, ff16 is a looker and it compromises less in performance mode...but what's the point if the frame rate isn't even stable? This is the other rare game I played at 30fps, but just because the performance mode was inconsistent. Sorry for the wall of text, my friend.

Re: Palworld's Release in Japan on Hold Indefinitely Thanks to Nintendo Lawsuit

@Drago201 and monster -snatching mechanic as well, from DQV. I hope the DQ designs come up in the Pal World lawsuit.

As first hand playing experience some were really shocking imho: Stunt Race FX is a blatant Virtua Racing ripoff, Breath of the wild is a love letter to shadow of the colossus. Little Big Planet was pillaged in concept and aesthetic by several Nintendo games …and yeah the list goes on and on.

Re: 30th Anniversary PS5 Slim, DualSense Prices Leaked

Good luck on Thursday, everyone! I think whatever insane price that Pro bundle will be carrying, it's gonna be scalped to death ;_;

@OldGamer999 @jrt87 at least they haven't inserted a Portal in the bundle XD also if we sell the pro controller we will have compromised the integrity of the bundle forever.

Re: The Novelty of PlayStation's PC Ports Does Appear to Be Dampening

So the actual peak number is about 35k, still a lot lower than the original GOW. It must be said that Ragnarok is more like a direct sequel, even a "part 2" of one big game...and being a cinematic action game with rpg elements is not as cool as it was a couple of years ago.

I hope in the future Sony will limit its pc outings to live service games (same day and date) and just don't bother with these single player pc ports 2 years down the line.

@d0x360 this kind of port would suppose they are investing more capital into them, invalidating the whole point of the PS pc ports: having more profit margin for games with long development cycles..

Re: Rumour: PS6 Could Span a Console and Handheld Device

Some thoughts:

  • This is pretty far in the future and it might change a lot. I think the Ps5 will have a very interesting later life cycle with a lot of projects coming to fruition.
  • I hope they learnt from the X/S situation that it is not really that convenient to have two different SKUs to develop for: and for those mentioning Ps4 cross-gen games, we're fully past the Ps4 for big projects, we've actually been there a long while...
  • With the commercial success of the Switch, the great buzz around SteamDeck and the surprising sales of the Portal, it makes sense they are at least exploring their possibilities.
  • I really don't want a "Switch" as it's an unappealing (for me) machine that is not a reliable home console or a viable portable. It is just stuck in a limbo where it's the worst place you can play your games on and I only touch it for the rare must-play Nintendo exclusive (TOTK is the last title I played there).

Re: Tetsuya Nomura Considers Retirement, and How to End Kingdom Hearts

@Keyblade-Dan @PuppetMaster I think, as many do, that Tabata and his team actually salvaged a functioning and engaging game from something that was stuck in development hell too long, so er shouldn’t really put them (or Nomura) to blame.

I like Nomura as a creative consultant and designer but I also feel like Rebirth greatly benefited from him not being the director and the game we got makes Remake feel like a glorified demo.

Re: Days Gone PS5 Remaster Rumours Start to Snowball

@jrt87 that’s only happening because they didn’t manage to setup a functional eshop across platforms tied to the same account and while I do think we will retain our account on the switch successor, it’s shocking they have been selling the same game at full price for 3-4 generations and really shouldn’t get a free pass for that. Greediest company out of the 3, by far.
