This is great news and about 10 months ago someone on Resetera said they heard Bandai and Sega were working on Sony IP.

So if Namco did this then I wonder what Sega is working on.

@UltimateOtaku91 The UK analyst Christopher Dring added a bit more context in a follow up tweet about how well it's currently doing in the UK.

According to him Astro Bot is the fastest-selling original platformer IP outside of Mario in the last decade, beating the likes of iconic names like Sonic, Kirby, Crash Bandicoot, at least in the UK.

PC players could have set the record straight but they seem to be feigning ignorance.

When a PC player says I'm 1440p with dlss they are actually 960p upscaled to 1440p. Balanced though what Nvidia recommends is actually only 835p so pssr does the rest similar to dlss.

@HonestHick True, there's plenty of people saying they want these kind of games but then they don't actually buy them. It's still at #2 on UK Amazon just behind Space Marine and #3 on UK PSN though.

Dring thinks it will have a longer tail and Christmas is coming up. Hopefully lifetime sales will be okay for this type of game in the end.

@HonestHick Definitely didn't set the sales charts alight but it was Dring who compared it to Ratchet. Now he's comparing it to Crash Bandicoot 4 and Sonic Frontiers, he's saying it had better 1st week sales then both of them and they are are cross gen and multiplatform games.

It's a 10 and anyone who thinks otherwise needs a kick up the ass.

Didn't do that well in Japan but the 1st week sales for Astro are 21% higher than Rift Apart in the UK according to Christopher Dring.

So after all the crying the disc drive is currently outselling the Series S and X. Well at least on Amazon US.

Well the 1tb SteamDeck is £600 and that's garbage in comparison to the Pro so I'm probably still buying but I'll admit it's a bit steep.

If I needed one I would just wait for black Friday and from a supposed leak, a new improved dualsense is launching alongside the Pro.

Whether it's true or not I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Nothing wrong with wanting to grow your IP portfolio but they should have been remaking and remastering the games people actually wanted instead of the games they've been doing.

It's the highest rated game of the year so far because Erdtree is just an expansion. Nevermind though, it's an easy mistake to make.

Digital Foundry just dropped their Astrobot video, I haven't had a chance to watch yet but I think the title says it all.

Still sitting at 94 from 100 reviews on metacritic and I suppose this guarantees it a game of the year nomination.

That means Sony will have had a nominee for 10 years straight. Every year for the last decade is quite an achievement.

It looks like a steaming pile of 💩 but it probably will be massive because people just have bad taste these days.

Well its main competition is probably Payday 3 so hopefully it's a lot better than that.

Redesign the characters, get rid of the useless pronouns and make some tweaks to improve the game then throw it on PSN and maybe change the name to FreeGunners or something.

Or better yet, if they can still use it as a tax write off somehow then just do that.

Probably don't have another game lined up to work on straight away so they are downsizing. This actually happens a lot but it definitely seems like a really ***** industry to be in, especially at the moment.

Well I've seen people say that was the Pro dev kit but I haven't seen anyone say it was the actual PS5 Pro but then again if that is the PS5 Pro Dev kit then isn't he still essentially teasing the PS5 Pro?

@PuppetMaster @breakneck here's a recent interview with the director of Silent Hill and Gravity Rush and according to him the reason he and a lot of his colleagues left was basically Sony wanted them to make a big budget AAA game but they didn't want to so they left and it led to the closure of Japan Studio.

When we saw the little teaser trailer for this I was expecting a cool sci-fi shooter with characters that were closer to the something like the space marines out of Aliens or a John carpenter movie or something.

Yeah it was my own fault for thinking that but I definitely don't like this modern audience slop that it turned out to be.

@Rodimusprime1313 When Sony pays studios to make a game for them they do want ownership of the IP if possible. They do that because they lost games they paid for like crash bandicoot to Vivendi who later merged with Activision.

Square still owns everything final fantasy though.

eXtas1s, Lunatic Ignus and Schpeshal Nick from XboxEra are all saying Tassi's source is wrong and there is no exclusivity deal.

It looks similar enough to me that the disc drive they sell now probably still fits so I'd imagine it is just the same as what they do now and you can buy it with or without and can attach one whenever you want.

Honestly it would be stupid if it doesn't.

@Rog-X Just how well do think this game is going to sell? And how much money do you think will be left after you deduct the budget and marketing costs plus Steam, Sony and Disney's cut? Also I won't be covering any Gamepass costs because I won't be buying it seeing as it looks like a VR game.

@WhiteRabbit Yeah these price increases definitely suck but this to bring it inline with the prices elsewhere because the Japanese yen is in a terrible state. I'm pretty sure this is the real reason we haven't seen the Switch 2 yet. Nintendo are holding out, hoping it bounces back because they don't want it to be too expensive at launch in Japan.

@cburg That Metaphor: ReFantazio trailer has 3x the amount of views on the playstation channel even though Xbox paid for some marketing rights.

I actually agree that mechanically this game is a 7 but Sony made a serious error of judgment when they allowed Firewalk free rein on the design choices.

This game has the complete opposite of mass appeal, someone should have realised the game was being fashioned to just suit an absolutely minuscule target demographic and stepped in and made some drastic changes.

Well then I guess I'll forget it exists like Atlus wants then pick it up in a deep sale.

Well that's what happens when you just pander to a tiny target audience instead of the majority of gamers.

What's funny is the people they are pandering to still didn't even come out and support it.

New reports are saying that the PS5 has sold out in China because of Black Myth Wukong as well.

Well this is most games as long as it isn't a bad port and you have a decent PC.

South Korea is mainly a PC and Mobile market so that makes sense.
