Re: Prospective PS5 Pro Buyers Cause Disc Drives to Sell Out

MafiaCub

I like that people think this is future PS5 Pro owners buying a disc drive 2 months early... And doesn't seem it as scalpers buying them all up knowing there was outrage at its lack of inclusion with the console, and knowing anyone who wants it with a drive will have to pay extra.

They're already starting to show up on eBay with a mark up. Sony just gave scalpers a new tool to tuck over consumers after doing it themselves first. Trying to force digital only collections on people, so Sony decide whether or not you can have your game (they can remove them and then it's tough tits) charge full RRP for them, no competition, want to resell your game? Tough. Want to display them? Not possible.

The consoles price isn't too bad for what you get, but I'd have paid for it with a stand and drive, maybe even 50 more. But I'm not supporting it at this price, because I think it's against their consumers who have built up physical media collections.

Re: PS5 Pro Can Run PS4 Games Better Via Improved Backwards Compatibility

MafiaCub

PS5 Pro can run PS4 games better.

No it ***** can't. Unless you buy a external disc drive, cause the money grabbing ***** removed the drive and decided to charge £100 for it.

Now fair enough, it can run digital games better too. But there's still a large portion of games with physical libraries from PS4, who can happily play them on PS5, but will now find effectively a £350 price hike in order to have the mid gen update and not lose out.

It's also complete toss that it's £25 for the vertical stand. At £700 that should be free. It was at launch of original PS5, but again, money grabbing

Re: Baldur's Gate 3 (PS5) - One of the Greatest RPGs of Our Time

MafiaCub

@Suur or, maybe, just buy hyped games from genres you're interested in? You stated you had never played not had interest in this style of game before... Why think it would be different just because people who do like the styles you mentioned, hyped them up as amazing?

I usually fall into hype traps myself, but use BoomerangGames to rent them instead (I know BG3 was digital only). It's how I avoided losing a pretty penny on Eldeb Ring which I just never got in to

Re: EA Sports F1 23 Brings Back Dramatic Story Mode Braking Point on PS5, PS4

MafiaCub

Last "braking point" was awful. Story was ok, but what the point in a. Racing game, where you only do parts of a race, and have pre determined issues, breakdowns, crashes etc.

I really hope we get a much more dynamic one, with multiple pathways, dependant on your approach. Win and listen to what is asked, happy team and team mate... Ignore calls for early pits, or to let your team mate past, and you get an annoyed team mate not willing to let you past and who will aggressively try to over take you.

Cut scenes can then show in the in paddock drama and how those interactions change.

Just something like that would be fine. I don't mind if we get a version of drive to survive, but just let me bloody race in a game I bought so I could race

Re: Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 Version Likely Launching Tomorrow

MafiaCub

I played this on Series X at release, i never had a single crash or glitch. So I'm in no rush to jump back in.

I enjoyed it, possibly because I was lucky to experience no issues, but unless the next gen versions offer a proper improvement and are now offering the ray tracing, Greater population density, improved lighting etc... I don't think I'd bother to play again, and if I did it would likely just be to see how it looks.

Wondering if it's getting a bit of a secret release info because it may drop as March's PS+ game. But I think that would offer further resentment to CDPR from those who paid full price and had a broken game for a long time

Re: Gran Turismo 7's PS5 Ray Tracing Will Be Restricted to Replays

MafiaCub

No shock here. Look at F1 2021. Same deal, only get ray tracing in replays and that had to be patched out and back in to work right.

Its much easier to do it for replays too, despite what was suggested earlier that its harder because you can switch views and cars etc. A replay is basically a preloaded world, and whilst you can adjust angles and such a car going around the track is still going to go in the same place no matter what angle you view it from.

In the main race you can hit a wall, hit another car, spin out and collect 3 cars at once... all of which would be a massive hit to the processor trying to render the debris and reflection, and cause huge frame dips. But in replay, slow down to 30fps as average, and a few dips to 20fps during these scenes and its not such a big deal.

Re: NBA 2K22's Career Mode Is Now Essentially an Open World RPG on PS5

MafiaCub

I've played every nba 2k game since the first, every year seemed to be a good change, the moment to the xbox 360 era with cloth animation and realistic sweat really amped up the realism, and the gameplay improved too.

Then by 2k16 we were getting storylines, that first started in 2010, but were now getting a bit repetitive, and promotion of VC in order to improve your player were becoming more prominent.

Roll on next gen 2k21, and we got 'the city' an expansion of the neighbourhood, so vast and so empty and so boring to navigate. Gameplay was not getting any improvements, because focus was on the city... which looked like a ps3 era rpg.

But now they look like they've done something interesting. But j want more, I wish you could earn VC for the quests, instead of MVP points (some BS equivalent of a battle pass seemingly to earn vehicles and poses).

Ideally I'd like it if you started the MyCareer as a street baller, who had one specific good stat (like your job in an rpg) and then you did these quests, and levelled up other stats, whilst playing in street ball tournaments and making connections, to eventually get called up to a summer camp with the NBA stars (completely none linear, can take 6 game months, or 6 years) from there, get drafted to a low team due to your unusual progression to the big leagues, but have the ability to show out and improve your roster placing whilst still being able to keep your outside activities going via quests, which can mean you'll risk turning up to some games with half stamina or something.

Just something that makes it feel like we're building someone up, and have a single skill to fall back on. Because right now it's annoying as hell that every year its the same thing of you controlling a guy who is followed by press and nba agents and heralded as the next big thing. Then you play as him and he can't hit layup, or knock down open jumpers. Then you somehow still get signed to an nba team, and still struggle with basics and have to play the game either as a ball hog to get enough points to get a good rating, or avoid shooting and hope your point guard mentality doesn't result in loads of takeovers.

Simply put, the openings are dull as hell, because its always the same and you always have to spend the opening hour or so earning vc just to avoid being embarrassingly bad, which goes against what the story tells you about your player.

Also, your nickname this year is 'MP'... at least give us a choice

Re: WWE 2K22 Hits Different on PlayStation This Year

MafiaCub

@TheCollector316 says PlayStation 4 only, I think they mean it won't be next gen. So will be xbox too.

Cant imagine Sony bothered with exclusivity on it.

Shame if it is last gen only, they made a special next gen NBA this year. If they managed that with one year of build, 2 years should allow a next gen version here too.

I, as others said, just hope they go down the more arcade route. If I want sim, I'll get fire pro. I want good mechanics, simple but fun game play, a good GMmode, a removal of BS stuff like "kick out at 2, and lose via count out" which ruin the career mode.

I just want fun. I've not enjoyed a wrestling game since the Ps2 days, and even then games like DefJam were better than the WWE offerings.

Re: PS5 Pre-Orders from Some Retailers May Not Be Fulfilled Until 2021

MafiaCub

@theheadofabroom Game were an official partner, much like they were for Xbox (Xbox officially said you could buy from Microsoft, game, smyths and Very). Other retailers would have stock allocated.

Its quite likely that the partner sites were given an allocation. Such as 1st 1000 orders are guaranteed, plus we'll get another 1000 to you at a later date.

Where as other retailers would be told we will let you know how much stock we can get to you as soon as possible, so they had to sell blind, otherwise they risk selling zero pre orders when everyone else went live

Re: All PS5 Launch Games

MafiaCub

For those listing Cyberpunk as a launch title... There's no confirmed date for PS5 or Xbox series X. Both are backwards compatible, but will not be built for the new gen. New gen versions to come later. Smart delivery for xbox, no word yet on PS5.

In other news... Why the hell is everything 70 dollars, and 70 pound. Why don't Sony ever convert prices?

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 232

MafiaCub

Just getting started with We Happy Few, not taken nearly enough joy pills to enjoy the game myself... but the story, and the mystery around it are keeping me hoked in the early stages, so hopefully the other stuff will improve.

Going through Octodad with my son, he's been wanting it for ages, so I redownloaded that

Lux Obscura. It was cheap, and I thought it looked like an interesting match 3 style game. It's ok. Easy platinum I guess, and had i paid more, I'd feel ripped off. Same goes for "Oh Sir!... The hollywood roast" fun in ten minute bursts, but again my son can play that one and laugh at the stupidity of some of the insults.

Just finished Jurassic Park Evolution a few moments ago, and when i get on the Xbox later, I'll carry on with Bomber Crew, which is awesome. Game Pass has given my Xbox new life. SO much so it now has 2 years of gold and Game pass on it, thanks to sales, and will have plenty for me. My PS4 is looking a little sad right now. good month for PS4, but I've already had all the main games. still, F1 coming soon, and Dragons Quest, Spider-Man, Yakuza Kiwami 2... all good, oh, and Shen Mue. Plenty to keep me going til RDR2

Re: Hands On: How Similar Is Marvel's Spider-Man's Combat to Batman: Arkham?

MafiaCub

Can't wait to get this. Someone mentioned that on IGN people were saying it looks no better than previous games... They did specifically say in terms of gameplay, so the graphics comparison is moot.

Having said that, graphics and gameplay seem to put this ahead of any Spideygame we've had for years.

We also get the Noir outfit. I love spider-man Noir. Be interesting to see if he has his guns, or if it's a cosmetic change mainly.

I'll upgrade to pre-order if they announce the Spider-Man 1602 costume is in the game
