I couldn't say whether BB or ER is the GOAT, its fairly close. The story and setting of BB edges it, I think. It didn't "click" for me until after Amelia. Then it was like Lovecraft himself became a dev.

It changed how I judge every game thereafter.

I'd say SEGA are 84/100.

Stupid question but does Sony use data when selecting the games? For instance, do they look at installs over library additions? This is the first month in years that I don't own any of the games, which is great 😀

I think the Playstation faithful have had a rough time of late. The outage during an important weekend, tone deaf response adding more PS+ time, without considering offline games were impacted. Mishandling of first party IPs, annoying PC gamers, with forced PSN and then backtracking. Its a litany of errors, fueling the naturally feral maw of internet discourse.

They desperately need a win, but unless they can be more consistent in their decision making and customer focus, the negative sentiment will continue.

Here's hoping they listen, I mean really listen.

P.S. - release a Bloodborne remaster 😂

Lies of P Overture looks ace and I'm a bit excited about a new Shinobi. It was alright, better than usual but still not enough from first party devs.

I wonder if they tempered this SoP, knowing that Nintendo are going to have a big year?

@Old-Red I recently bought GT6 on PS3 from Cex and it downloaded the patches and wouldn't start up. The bigger problem is the reliabce on patches to even boot.

I can still play Streets of Rage Ii on my Mega Drive from start to finish. I guess the online world has just made developers/hardware manufacturers lazy.

I don't get why it needs to verify DLC on KCD II if I play offline, have the Blu-ray disc and it's a single player game.

Much as I love From games, I want to chill and play action based games like Ghost of Tsushima and Ninja Gaiden. So excited for Phantom Blade, could be GOTY contender?

The last game I paid full price for was ELDEN RING. I hardly ever pay launch prices and see it as an opportunity to crack on with my backlog until it is on sale. Problem is, others will pay. Corner the market, raise prices.

Bloodb-oh it's a SoP. Some remasters, weird MMO, maybe some live service stuff. Sony has lost this generation for me. I now play on Steam and Swotch more and that is so sad 😞

Much as I love From games I truly hope Animal Well takes some awards home. Also, surprised Caves of Qud isn't up there along with Nine Sols.

All told, Balatro is GOTY for sure. A unique and addictive masterpiece. 2024 was an awesome year.

Dare I say it, I prefer this to HK. The parrying is epic and combat has more dimensions to it. Clearly, HK innovated first, and Christopher Larkin's OST elevates it. But Nine Sols is my GOTY. Best Metroidvania in years, possibly on par with HK.

I really don't get the Pro. For the same price, I can get top of the range Steam Deck and change. I'm happy with my base PS5 and gaming PC. Why bother?

The only thing that would tempt me is an exclusive "Pro only" Bloodborne Remaster. Sony really has lost the plot.

I totally agree with @Flora2122 the generation has been awful. They have been riding the goodwill they generated in previous gens. They can do it though because Xbox has such an inferior offering.

If they release a Bloodborne remake or remaster for PS5 and PC, all would be forgiven.

Something ahead of the 10 year anniversary of Bloodborne.

They clearly made this for the fans. Its a solid 9. If it had more stable performance and less MBA decreed microtransactions it would be a 10. Haven't had this much fun since Dragon Age: Origins.

What a year! it's got to be Baldur's Gate 3, Lies of P or Teardown. First party stuff was very samey and I got bored in an FF for the first time ever.

Started a fresh Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough to make my way into Phantom Liberty.

Anyone else played the old gem The Last Express? I was hoping this would be like that but the reviews suggest its a bit rote.

Sony needs to be more Japanese. They've forgotten how to be playful and fun. It's all a bit soulless and rote at the moment. Listen to your roots, not suits.

8 / 10 for me just got the Arcade so a bit to go. I find the inability to cancel out of animations and a fiddly Parry window holds it back from the dizzy heights of From games.

To be honest, they should be so proud of their game, it's great.

Just got to the Cathedral section in Lies of P. Mich better than I expected, although a bit linear. Still I'm l9ving the setting and systems.

I picked up Dragon Crown Pro and Odin Sphere at CeX recently. Why does this keep happening!

In all seriousness though both are excellent games. Wish the screen was less hectic when you have a full party though.

Started a new playthrough of Cyberpunk 2077 in prep for Phantom Liberty. Also noticed Bloodborne is likely in the final of GOAT mega thread and that meant I also started a NG+ run. I can't pass up Yharnam, even after all these years.

@sentiententity not too bad difficulty wise. Generous checkpoints and medkits. Much easier than Dark Souls, Sekiro et al.

@LazyLombax it's funny the game has From's quality animations and combat but I do find the constant radio chatter very PSX era. Gotta say Push got the review spot on.

I played it yesterday on PC it was fun. Multiplayer was awful but solo it was fun, if a little generic. Definitely nothing like BG3 more like Chronicon / early Zelda games with less originality.

Some tired stuff in there like fetch quests / generic fantasy classes. Modding also confined to PC only.

Great combat but mediocre game overall.

Sea of Stars is amazing. I got real Chrono Trigger vibes from the demo. Hoping the full game is something special. Other than that I stupidly bought lost of them on sale recently

It looks majestic. What really happened when Japan Studio become defunct and From decided to get in bed with ActiBlizz for Sekiro and then Bamco. What an absolute corpo disaster.

FF16 is a mutant of a game - too weird to live, and too rare to die

I picked up Original Sin 1 + 2 from CeX and now I'm lost in D&D like it is the 80s again. Can't believe I skipped this series.

I said 7, in reality it is probably an 8. I've hit lvl 75 and now it just feels a bit soulless.. I'm still killing mobs in two hits as I did at lvl 5 just now my world tier is called something cooler.

It was unexpected - deep lore, world building of FF with Nier Automata like combat and transitions. Fingers crossed the story lives up to the mechanics.
