Re: Nintendo and The Pokémon Company Want to Stop the Sale of Palworld

LavenderShroud

@Medic_alert “Stifles creativity”? Isn’t the guy behind the company on record for saying he’d rather just steal from other games than do anything original?

Plus there’s so many games inspired by others. Seems like there’s a new Metroidvania game every week lately. It’s fine to be inspired by something, just not copy it as close as you can. Which is basically what this is about.

Also the “ride a creature” mechanic is apparently more in depth in that the patent is about riding them in specific environments to perform certain tasks, probably like Sun & Moon.

I’m not necessarily siding with Nintendo per se, just more pointing out the fact that they are within reason to sue Pocket Pal.

@Medic_alert Except you can’t exactly patent stuff like that…Pretty sure sword characters and elves in games existed long before Nintendo made games with them. Like on Atari…

This is one game by a notoriously bad company. It’s not going to turn the entire industry upside down. There’s TONS of monster catching games. Yet they’re all perfectly fine and even available, and a couple were even promoted by Nintendo on their Indie Showcases.

Honestly if Palworld did something wrong, then yes, Nintendo has every right to pursue legal action. Like it or not. Plus Pocket Pal is notorious for being scummy as hell. So I don’t see why everyone is quick to side with them who are in the wrong. While that apparent “riding mechanic” seems a bit of a stretch, if there’s other patents infringed on, Nintendo has the right to sue.

Re: What Is PSSR for PS5 Pro?

LavenderShroud

Maybe I’m just old fashioned, but anyone else remember being able to just buy a console to play a fun game without worrying about how powerful or “upscaling” it could do?

Re: PS5 Pro was a '5-Year Project', In Development Before PS5's Launch

LavenderShroud

My only real question about this is why not just have gone with the Pro in the beginning? Why even release the base PS5? I get these things are always planned in advance, but if this was always the idea... Were they concerned over backlash over a high priced console like back when the PS3 was released? I’m not really sure how to explain what I’m trying to say.

@ecurb7 Agreed. While I do understand the complaints people have, I’m always quick to just say “I have fun” when commenting on these posts. I don’t play games a lot, and I don’t plan to get a Pro. I have older systems and consoles, nothing newer ones than a PS Vita. And I have fun and enjoy playing games. I’m not into all these new things, but I’m not going to necessarily complain. I just stick with what I enjoy and have fun.

Re: Sony Says the Best Time to Get a PS5 Is Now

LavenderShroud

I’d rather get a PS4 and even looked into it a little. The only things that I’m really wanting to try on PS5 that I haven’t played with my brother are Stellar Blade and Infinity Nikki. Aside from those, nothing has really grabbed my attention compared to the numerous releases on PS4…But that’s just me.

Re: Ubisoft Confident Assassin's Creed Shadows Will Make February Launch

Let’s see if Ubisoft even survives that long…I do have high hopes for this game being successful though, don’t get me wrong. I’m not going to play it myself, but I believe it will do rather well or rather poorly, but it all depends on if Ubisoft can stay afloat until then. And lately all the news we hear about the company is less than stellar…

Re: Ubisoft Disbands Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Team After Poor Sales, Claims Report

Everyone got too used to Ubi’s sales huh? Honestly since they do these huge sales soon after a game is released that I’ve only heard about, I don’t game much, it but them in the ass. Also, it’s like what, every other day now that Ubisoft is in the news? Now if there IS truth to this rumor, then yeah, how much longer before they start closing up more of their divisions until none remain?

I’m not trying to be all doom and gloom or a naysayer on all these Ubisoft articles. But it’s honestly just starting to look like their days truly are numbered. Especially when nearly every single article is negative about what is happening inside the company. Strikes, buyouts, financials, it’s not looking good.
