@lazarus11 "I have a problem with the actress portraying her , and the fact her line delivery is atrocious , you seem to think if you're a straight man and you criticise a gay character you get your free homophobe badge"

I seem to think that? I think you need to reread my comments, because that's the exact opposite of what I've been saying. Criticisms about the writing and the acting are valid criticisms. Complaining that a show has gay people in it is not a valid criticism. This has been the theme of my arguments.

@Psofo "its exactly your type of rigid thinking and constant labeling that has tipped the scales in favor of the current US government."

No. Racists are responsible for their own racism, and homophobes are responsible for their own homophobia.

I have never in my life heard a gay person complain that a show has a straight romance. I mean, I'm sure they exist, but I haven't met one.

Preferring entertainment with LGBT characters is not equal to preferring entertainment without straight characters. Of course people like to see themselves represented. But only bigots like to see only themselves represented.

@lazarus11 badly written characters are badly written, regardless of their orientation. And what gives you the idea that Disney's audience is so straight? Let's be real, it's girls and gays.

Straight people don't mind gay characters. Homophobes do. I think what you're actually recognising is that the United States has a bigotry problem, all the more emboldened by the current government.

@Olmaz it's not an ad hominem attack. You are perfectly aware of the reputation we have as gamers. And you're not helping with how staunchly you're defending your complaints about LGBT representation in games and TV.

By the way, the fact that LGBT characters ruin your enjoyment doesn't make people go "wow he's so straight." It makes people think you must be struggling with your sexuality.

I'm not saying you are. I'm saying that's the impression you're giving people.

@Olmaz "Would you care explaining why you disagree with the statement that you can be tolerant in real life towards something but at the same time not particularly eager to see it in your entertainment?"

Yes, with this sentence: "I'm ok with gay people, I just don't want to see them".

I refer back to my initial point: if you're not mature enough to handle gay characters, you're not mature enough to watch a show or play a game with gay characters.

@Olmaz "You can completely be ok with people being gay, while not appreciating seeing it in the content you consume."

I disagree wholeheartedly, but I already said I'm not going to try and change your opinion. Your aversion to LGBT representation is clearly part of your identity, as evidenced by your complaints about newer Assassin's Creed games. (Even though Brotherhood has a whole quest about rescuing DaVinci's boy toy.)

@Lembit there absolutely were complaints about the gay men in season 1. And no, I don't think that people who identify by a notoriously homophobic American political party would portray gay and lesbian characters in a respectful manner.

Because, as I said, homophobia is a political agenda. Gay and lesbian characters are not new, they are not edgy, they are not "woke", they are not aiming to shove anything down anyone's throat. This is an adult show with adult themes. If someone can't handle adult themes, they should not watch an adult show.
