Unsurprising. If you get any new game on PS4 today you have to have realistic expectations which would be on par with minimum/low setting for 720p or maybe 1080p on a PC. PS4 has a general compute of a bit under 2 teraflops. The PS5 has about 10.5 teraflops. The current gen GPUs at the lower end of performance gaming (ie, 4070 ti) have 40 teraflops. The PS5 when new targeted the 2070ish performance threshold on a RDNA2 versus nvidia design... suffice it to say if the PS5 came out today it would probably target 30-40 tflops with more RT cores. RE4R was certainly designed with a PS5 baseline for its experience.
All this to say baby we have come a long way, and still gotta long way to go
@ORO_ERICIUS the financial/economic pickle is a GPU that can provide 4K FPS with RT either costs as much as a mortgage payment or uses many upscaling parlor tricks where you are still playing a 1440p game that looks sharper.
No one is going to spend $1,750-2,250 USD on a PS5 pro.
Ubisoft really is in a bad trajectory and I wonder if they can pull up. Latched onto crypto, then NFTs, now this. All while their actual games are all being cancelled and delayed. Senior leadership is shuffling the chairs on the deck to get people to buy the stock (AI Chat is the new Crypto/FinTech buzzword for the dumb money investor ready to be fleeced) while the hull has taken on water.
It felt like a paid demo for the base mission. The side ops stuff was entertaining for those thirsting for MGS but according to Trophies 55% beat the single mission, and 26% beat a single side op. So abit under half of those who played it bothered with more than the single mission.
Same story for Act 2 of MGS5. There is a story there but you can tell that Konami was scared of the dev-hell the game was in and set a deadline... so most of Act 2 is hard modes of prior missions that are completely optional . Same story on player engagement. About 25% of players cleared Act 1, and about 12% of all players got the mid-point trophy of the shorter Act 2.
@Porco these are very good points. We are having these rumors when AAA games are still coming up as Xbone/PS4 based with little added value for PS5/XSX and ridiculously poor optimization for PCs? Almost every new game won't even make the PS5's GPU kick in gear if you listen. Any power over that which you get in a PS5 Pro will never be used by the system. It would be like getting a 4090 to play Halo 4 or GoW 2018.
Only makes sense if it is to phase out the original PS5 for some reason.
I won't get one. I still remember to this day using my 12th birthday money and a summer of lawn mowing to buy the N64 "Expansion PACK" which gave it more VRAM iirc (feel free to correct me) and one game that required it... noticed absolutely nothing different.
Only upgrades I get in the console space are generational now. I also use the "can my GPU still play WoW on medium/low" as the absolute measure of when I need a new GPU. "Next gen shaders" and "TRUUEEE111!!1!11 ray tracing" gimmicks are just that to me.
Being forced out because he is not pushing enough NFTs? His replacement was an NFT salesman and crypto hypeman prior to moving to SE to grow NFTs.
Doesn't matter. Never buying one. They are mods and texture files for dumbies with too much money. They are absolutely fungible in every meaningful sense and will have no function whatsoever when the servers go offline.
Sony can and probably will appeal it. The US legal system unlike Continental Europe os opaque and byzantine. Probably the result is MS buys Bobby Kotick's company and neither side sees the others data.
Unless you have no PC at all in your home, there is little reason to get an Xbox. A PS5 has all the multi-platformers. The handful of decent Xbox games in existence now can be played on PC Cloud Game Pass if your Graphics Card is weak... but even a 1660 or 1080 can run the newer MS games on medium 1080p.
I prefer this approach versus a number of studios now make their games to run with NVidia's DLSS fake-frame technology to look decent, and everything else has the GPU not even running 60% while struggling left and right.

Makes the whole idea seem more absurd.

Pumped. It will be my summer jam.
Re: The Last of Us' Naughty Dog Already Working on Next PS5 Exclusive
Hoping we actually see it on PS5 as an exclusive that pushes the system, versus coming up late 2027 and basically being cross gen for PS6.
With the delays we have seen lately this would not surprise me either though.

RE4 for sure, but may be closer to summer before I get to it.

Re: Thousands of PS5, PS4 Discounts Come to PS Store with Mega March Sale
@DiggleDog have not started it in earnest yet but want to after I finish MGSV. Looks interesting from the "prologue" section I played.
Re: Poll: How Do You Feel About Final Fantasy 16?
Definitely in. This is my first PlayStation since PS2 so I want to try out every thing.
