Re: Reaction: Why There Are So Many Unnecessary PS5 Remasters for Games That Don't Need Them

JuiceboxMeister

Remasters are the contemporary bane of the video game industry. They have become way too common and they are not producing returns that justify the time/resources spent making them. Publishers are using them as a metric (a poorly chosen one) for interest in the next addition to the series or genre, but are failing to realize that nostalgia does not translate to a desire for a new installment and vice versa.
If developers can keep their games/IP from being owned by a publicly traded company, the better.

Re: Arrowhead Offers Peek at Helldivers 2 Patch Meant to Satisfy the Masses

JuiceboxMeister

I just don't understand why they don't buff everything!? It's not a PvP game so it would make this massively more fun (still amazingly fun as is) if I can start changing loadouts and maul some bugs and bots with simple carnage inducing pleasure. Helldivers is one of my top games this year and it's been sad to see the community drag it down so much. Remember, this is a game Helldiver's community, it's fake in the end and just a good bit of fun.

Re: Bungie Commits to Destiny 2 DLC and Support Through 2026

JuiceboxMeister

I stopped playing Destiny after The Taken King was released. That's Destiny ONE. When they announced the year 3 expansion, Iron something, and offered the game brand new, with all expansions and a starting light level to skip the grind, for $60, after I already sunk $180 into the game, I gave it up. They didn't offer any of their loyal players who invested in the game anything but gave everything away to brand new players. Was absurd! That moment was what killed GaaS for me, back in 2015!

Re: Round Up: What Was Announced During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024?

JuiceboxMeister

@Blaze215 These are just the full games that were announced. There was a ton of little announcements for DLC, new indies, etc., that are not listed. Wasn't a bad show. The one announcement I really enjoyed that is related to games is a new show in the vein of Love, Death & Robots but for games (existing franchises, new releases, and classics.) It is actually by the people who created Love, Death & Robots so that will be fun.

Re: Round Up: What Was Announced During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024?

JuiceboxMeister

@Savage_Joe I found that humorous (read shocking) as well. Considering that China outputs more harmful gases/pollution than any other country on the planet and have increased their output in direct violation to whatever that "authoritative" global summit, Paris something right, set as goals. Tencent was probably a generous donor to gamescon this year, especially their Asia show later in the year.

Re: Pour One Out for PS4 Exclusive WiLD, No Longer in Active Development

JuiceboxMeister

I have been hoping for a resurgence of this game for a long time. Looked amazingly interesting when announced, especially the part where you would control animals and be tasked to roam as them for a set time to unlock their "shaman" abilities. This could have been something great. I'm a little saddened at the news. A link to the gameplay reveal

Re: Preview: Star Wars Outlaws Thrives in Its Rewarding Open World

JuiceboxMeister

This article pushed me off the fence and into the "I'm buying" yard. I love Star Wars but with all the negative publicity for this game going around, I was feeling uncertain as the gameplay trailer was not enough to convince me. Though it won't be a day one buy for me, I'm just now getting around to Hogwarts and GoW: Ragnarok, it's definitely on the wishlist now! Thank you @liamcroft for the article.

Re: No Man's Sky: Worlds Part I Revamps the Universe in Biggest Update of 2024

JuiceboxMeister

@Elodin yeah, I regret buying the discless version but I got it when it was next to impossible to find a PS5 so I jumped at the opportunity to own one. Can't justify buying another just to have discs but I also love bitching about all digital games not being "owned", so hypocrisy at its finest over here haha great thing is that No Man's Sky constantly goes on sale on PSN so I'll probably pick it up soon. Still have a backlog to get through.

Re: Fortnite Developers, Fans Team Up to Target Newly Added Cybertruck

JuiceboxMeister

It's a video game! Remember when they used to be escapes from the BS of life, now they are just another avenue to proclaim your self-righteousness and whine about contemporary politics. It's hard to find a game where there isn't some stupid Left/Right morality controversy using it as a platform. Why couldn't the Crowdstrike bug have destroyed gaming servers to save us from the idiocy, at least for a short time?!

Re: Dragon Age: The Veilguard Reveal Has Utterly Torn Fan Opinion as Trailer Gets Slaughtered

JuiceboxMeister

I mean, Inquisition was a colorful game! The landscapes were amazingly varied and colorful, as well as the characters. I get that the trailers tone was not in line with what we've come to expect but I didn't see anything wrong with the art style. Not to mention that it's a CGI trailer and not a gameplay trailer. I'll wait to see gameplay but I am concerned about the move to real time action. I loved the combat in Inquisition, but I know not everyone did.
This is also another example why developers/publishers need to have their initial trailer (not necessarily teaser) have real gameplay in it as to offset these kinds of reactions. I am certainly excited for this, even if the new name is dreadful?(hahahaha get it!?)

Re: Sony Removes Naughty Dog Boss Interview Following Complete Misquotes

JuiceboxMeister

@Pat_trick thanks for the breakdown. I whole heartedly agree with the take on Uncharted 4 even though I still enjoyed the game immensely, was just saddened that they joked about "ghost pirates". Felt like a back-handed comment to the previous 3.
As for Last of Us, I absolutely loved those games. There's some narrative directions that I don't think would actually be present in a world like that because who has time for social issues when humanity is all but extinct. Hardly detracts from the experience though.
Had no idea about the crunch or hollywood shill stuff. Haven't really cared to watch the show as I do not prefer show adaptations of games.
I do hope that the next game Naughty Dog does goes with a new creative director. His influence is too heavy on the atmosphere of ND games currently.

Re: Talking Point: State of Play May 2024 Predictions - What's Next for PS5?

JuiceboxMeister

Is Ghost of Tsushima 2 an actual thing or is everybody hoping that Sucker Punch will give us a sequel? Personally, I would like to see them give us another new IP. GoT felt complete and giving a follow up would detract from the first. What I wouldn't give to get another Infamous!
Naughty Dog needs to announce a new IP as well. I feel they are putting too many eggs in the LoU basket. Don't really care for the video game show adaptations that are becoming big. Not that they aren't good it's just not my thing. I want to interact with those stories not be a bystander.
I have hopes that Concord can be another fresh injection to the GaaS genre after the absolute blast that Helldivers has been.

Re: Sony Removes Naughty Dog Boss Interview Following Complete Misquotes

JuiceboxMeister

@Pat_trick what hate is everyone talking about? I don't really follow individual developers, just keep an eye on the industry and games, so a bit ignorant here.
I will say I am a bit salty towards Uncharted 4 since they decided to gut the most fun experience in that series, the supernatural twists towards the end. You could tell that Amy Hennig's direction was not followed after she left (imo).

Re: Activision Tasks New AAA Studio with Crafting Narrative-Based Series

JuiceboxMeister

They are already setting this studio up to fail expectations, especially for internal reporting. Talk about the massive undertaking to make a "genre-defining" game. They need to keep their expectations for their studios realistic. What are the chances of another Halo, Witcher, or (insert revolutionary title) being produced by studios these days with the amount of stress and potential firings looming over them constantly!?

Re: Judge Rules in Sony's Favour in $500m Controller Comms Lawsuit

JuiceboxMeister

@Tecinthebrain you and everyone else in this comment section should look into Hall Effect joystick replacements. I do not believe they are compatible with PS5 controllers, unfortunately, but I do know, for a certainty, they work with Switch and almost certain with Xbox. Its a $15 part that you can install yourself and stick drift is a thing of the past. I've used it on my Switch controllers.

Re: Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn Gets Extended PS5 Gameplay Overview

JuiceboxMeister

There was a gameplay video released, a few months back (it may have been sooner), that looked a little sluggish in combat, this one looks like they improved the movement and combat or that last video just wasn't a great representation. Either way, glad to see the speedy movement.
I am not sure how I feel about Inky (is that how they spell it?) Strikes me as a name a child gives and breaks some of the immersion for me. I'm sure it is a shortened name of some sort but i still can't take it seriously.
Last, the gold substitution, 'Reputation'? More and more games are doing there own 'currency' with a twist but then try to sell it as "the normal tender is no longer valuable because XYZ' then turn around and give you "gold". What's the point, call it EXP, keep the gold and drop the superficial 'lore' meta that seems half-baked.
Just a few of my critiques (like anyone really cares about mine haha) but this video did make me reconsider getting this game in the future. Looks way more entertaining than I first thought.

Re: Ubisoft's NEO NPC Prototype Offers a Glimpse at a Generative AI Future for Games

JuiceboxMeister

If they can get this balanced it would be helpful to certain genres of video games. I can definitely see this being a boon to games that incorporate detective work and mystery. Imagine a Deus Ex where you get to really feel like you are investigating the conspiracy behind the plot. Or a Sherlock Holmes game. Hell, even survivor-horror games could use this well.
Like I said, this would have to be optimized and balanced to the extremes. Definitely not going to happen soon.

Re: Sony's India Hero Project Reveals Five New Games Coming to PS5

JuiceboxMeister

That last one sounds incredibly interesting. Would love to see some different mythologies explored other than the overused Norse (my opinion only, it seems to be common for these last 2 console generations) and the beaten to death Greek. Especially Indian mythology, as it is so vast that you could take fractions of it and still have an enormous amount of content to use.

Re: Helldivers 2 Sales Are Actually Increasing, Again

JuiceboxMeister

@GKT I thought this as well when I first saw the trailers. Was actually a tiktok that caught my attention on the game and then I started reading comments on youtube and was sold. I know it's cliche to say now but I really haven't enjoyed a game this much in a long time!

Re: 900 PlayStation Employees Laid Off, London Studio Closed

JuiceboxMeister

@SoulChimera Right!? Especially since the UK and the EU are a massive market and unbelievably loyal to the Playstation brand, you would think that Sony would have spared them just for optics alone. I'm no expert, but closing a Sony named studio in their strongest market, arguably, isn't a great move.

Re: Tomb Raider Trilogy Remaster Has 'Plenty More to Share' as Fans Question Lack of Gameplay

JuiceboxMeister

@jedinite It's a weird conundrum for me. I do see how it benefits developers, easy way to create revenue with minimal effort, ie: cosmetics and skins, but the other side of the coin is that it's abused by developers, or I should say publishers. I do not believe it to be a wise decision to buy skins/cosmetics because it is literally money for nothing, but that's just me. The true detriment of microtransactions is its ability to pay-to-win. I'm all for capitalism and free enterprise but I do not support what I believe to be greedy practices within those structures. Greed is good for no one in the long and very rarely in the short also.
