Re: Yakuza Creator's Next Game Will Be Sent to Die As NetEase Implodes

JuiceboxMeister

@Blofse careful buddy, there's a very adamant crowd on here that will call you a capitalist shill for suggesting greed is a cause of this and not the fundamentally evil economic systems that are only there to oppress people.
Made a comment similar to yours on another post last week and it got out of hand lol glad to see there are some people on here with me that share a similar perspective.

Re: Random: Build Communism with $165 Disco Elysium Poverty Chic Plastic Bag Bag

JuiceboxMeister

@clvr I wouldn't call it a capitalist myth but rather an emergent fact. ALL systems are built by man and have their worst and best qualities built in. It's unavoidable, regardless of system. Some mitigate the worst better than others and some multiply the worst at the detriment of others. We should be looking at which systems provide the most benefit while limiting the disparities as much as possible. It's a never-ending process and responsibility.
I wasn't trying to be supportive of capitalism over other economies (though I do believe it offers the best options, at least for now) but just trying to point out that there is a more insidious and foundational problem.
I am curious to the scientific proof you mentioned. You got a link? Love reading about this stuff (see above "constant process" comment.)

Re: Hogwarts Legacy 2, Expanded First Game Both Reportedly in the Works

JuiceboxMeister

@Th3solution it may be difficult but I hope with its success and the developers handling of all the controversy, quite professionally and successfully done IMO, that it would be less difficult than we imagine to get approval. You are spot on that it would be a huge undertaking to create new school locations from the ground-up though. Would be worth it!

Re: Hogwarts Legacy 2, Expanded First Game Both Reportedly in the Works

JuiceboxMeister

@Th3solution I agree that it will be difficult to add further exploration. The game captured the magic of Hogwarts and the absolute desire to explore the castle that every reader growing up wanted to do. I believe they should expand to other schools! They have laid groundwork for the school in Africa, the books provided two others ripe for exploration, and then you have the Fantastic Beasts references.
I love the game, give me more just don't make it live service please.

@UltimateOtaku91 This goes for any industry though. I am not trying to minimize the state of the industry but it is hardly unique. In any industry the giants will be able to weather the storm but all the little to medium guys will fall away. I may be jaded or merely lacking empathy but this is the norm, especially for an industry that is a luxury and not a necessity to its consumers.

Re: Genshin Impact Maker to Pay $20 Million FTC Fine Over Gacha System

JuiceboxMeister

This isn't enough! Needs to be in the hundreds of millions to make an impact. FTC needs to have a hardline stance on gambling being promoted to kids. If you pay money for a CHANCE at something, it's gambling.
On the other side of the coin, parents need to be a lot more disciplined with what they allow their children to pay money for in games. It has to be done on both fronts or it will never succeed.

Re: Horizon Hatred Simmers Once More As Sony Announces Movie Adaptation

JuiceboxMeister

I love the games, even though the second game's story was sub-par compared to the first, but I am not a fan of all the movie/tv adaptations happening in the industry. Because my first experience was an interactive game, all other experiences lacking that interactivity make it lackluster. That's just me though. It's the same for book to movie adaptations, just never compares to the book. The only upside is that you can produce a movie a lot quicker than developing a game.

Re: The Game Awards Is Now Allegedly Bigger Than the Super Bowl

JuiceboxMeister

To be fair here, all the awards ceremonies mentioned are mainly an American affair and do not necessarily command a world audience. You can make an argument for the music awards but the sports are definitely American pastimes. I'd be curious to see how it stacks up to the World Cup.
Gaming awards shows have a level of interactivity built into them because it appeals to kids and adults that get to look forward to new games they get to play, not just watch a professional play or perform. I believe that goes a long way. I personally don't watch them live anymore, mainly because I'm busy, but you can be damn sure the next day I am looking up all the new trailers and results.

Re: Physical Media Just Can't Catch a Break Right Now

JuiceboxMeister

@UltimateOtaku91 The quickest way they'll get to 95% is by removing the option for physical. I know there is a voice for physical media but when it comes down to it I believe that FOMO will quickly set in and they'll only see a slight slump for a short period in sales. Your own comment speaks to this since you'll still get the PS6, or whichever number they are on when it happens, you just won't get it day one. I hope I am wrong but I'm gonna err on the side of greed and IP control on this one, unfortunately.

Re: Naughty Dog Casts Troy Baker to Star in Untitled Next PS5 Game

JuiceboxMeister

I've always thought of Uncharted before Last of Us when Naughty Dog is mentioned. I am still disappointed in the direction that Druckmann and Straley took with Uncharted 4 when Hennig and Richmond left/were ousted. Thought it was in bad taste to poke fun at the previous three titles mythological/supernatural twists in the late game content. One of the best parts of the Uncharted series were those fun twists. It really felt like playing a fun novel in the vein of James Rollins or other authors like him.

Re: Embracer Still Struggling, Despite Cutting Thousands of Jobs

JuiceboxMeister

@LuXifer that's not what happened. The Embracer debacle has been well documented and it wasn't due to inflated covid numbers. It was due to a pipe dream of billions being invested by the Saudi's that did not happen. They put the cart before the horse on this one and a ton of people paid for it with their jobs.

Re: Australia's Planned Social Media Ban to Include PSN

JuiceboxMeister

@AsterZero As an American, never underestimate any political party to use any situation/crisis/platform/emergency/disaster/"victory" to gain more power over the people. Cause when the other party/group wins the elections they too will have that power as well, and you rarely see an opposing party overturn laws set in place previously.
No party is a champion of "good" they are all just championing their own good.

@Matroska https://www.pmc.gov.au/office-women/womens-leadership/gender-balance-australian-government-boards

Not sure if that old "men" shtick will really hold up anymore. Especially in Australia, as it is pretty balanced, gender wise. We all need to look at the policies rather than make remarks about the gender of the people governing. It brings nothing of merit to the discussion and only introduces divisive rhetoric.

Re: These Horizon Zero Dawn PS5 Comparisons Are Absolutely Insane

JuiceboxMeister

HZD is by far my favorite game on the PS4, and that was against Naughty Dog's magnificent outings with U4 and TLoU. As beautiful as the remaster looks it's still just another showcase of the bane of video games.
That's just me though, I've never liked the concept or the practice of remasters. If you want to remake a game from the ground up, that's one thing, but a fresh coat of paint is another. The screenshots are night and day though, kudos to Nixxes on the excellent work.

Re: Sony's Guerrilla Sounds Completely Done with the Killzone Series

JuiceboxMeister

I only every played KZ3 and Shadow Fall. KZ3 was a fun game but I never liked the multiplayer and I've tried finishing Shadow Fall 3 times now and just can't keep the momentum. They were okay at best.
Horizon, on the other hand, had one of the best stories (at least the first game) and was really fun... and then FW released. I just didn't enjoy the story direction. It became incredibly predictable and they should have focused on Sylen's and Hades more instead of bringing some half-baked idea of immortal billionaires returning to rob them of their resources and being insane because of their hubris.
Not to mention all the contemporary political agenda parallels.I am tired of that in games. I just want to escape from the world's problems for a little while, not be further immersed in them in some fake world.
Also, give a proper ending to stories! Stop dragging them out. Be more like Breaking Bad.

Re: Random: Xbox Boss Complains About X Button After Being Handed PS5 Pad

JuiceboxMeister

@get2sammyb this may be true but as a journalist you know better than anyone that "the headline is the story" in this click-bait drudgery we are all living in and you are feeding. Two comments above your reply is a user who is calling Mr. Spencer an imbecile, which is maybe a joke but probably because he didn't read your article, only the headline.

Re: Don't Give Up on Jin Just Yet, More Ghost of Tsushima Spin-Offs Planned

JuiceboxMeister

I'm worried about this if it translates into new games. Jin's story felt complete and actually had closure to it. If they have spin-off material in the form of different medias, like the article said, then I am all for it, but I get an uneasy feeling that they will be "milking" it for the wrong reasons if it's a game. I trust Sucker Punch but it still worries me.
