Re: Opinion: The PS6 Cannot Come Out in This Era of $1,000+ Consoles

Hairy_Potter

I wouldn't have any problem paying €1,000 for a gaming console. Since I'm older, financially secure, and have no obligations, gaming is my favorite hobby.
Of course, I can empathize with young people who are just trying to get on their feet, or parents with children. Given the current rise in the cost of living, this might be out of their reach.

Re: 'Some Analysts Believe Sony Is Considering Pushing the PS6 Back': Embracer Report Hints at Later Than 2027 Launch

Hairy_Potter

I'm a happy PS5 Pro owner, but I don't have a firm opinion on the new console yet, or even when it might come out. I’ll see what the main selling point for buying a PS6 will be, aside from higher performance. The most likely scenario, however, is that as soon as the PS6 comes out, I’ll sell my PS5 Pro and chip in for the new hardware. At the very least, so I can play certain games with performance issues more smoothly.

Re: Gothic 1 Remake (PS5) - Cult Classic Returns, Warts and All

Hairy_Potter

@Khayl I’d like to correct you a bit. The original Gothic game was developed by Piranha Bytes, a studio based in Essen, Germany. That’s not in Eastern Europe. I’ve played both the original Gothic and Gothic 2, and we can certainly classify them as classic Eurojank. So much for the geography lesson. Thanks for the review, by the way.

Re: Hardware Review: Sony INZONE H9 II - The Perfect Gaming Headset?

Hairy_Potter

I have been using the Inzone H9 on PS5/Pro for three and a half years and have played thousands of hours on them. Fantastic headphones. I love them.
However, I admit that they had two flaws.
1. After a year, the leatherette on the headband cracked. I solved this with smooth carpet tape. It's not pretty, and it shouldn't happen on such expensive headphones, but since I only use them at home, it didn't bother me that much.
2. When the PS5 heated up during gameplay, the headphone dongle also heated up, and that's when
sound glitches started to occur. I solved this with a half-meter USB extension cable (USB-A (M) to USB-A (F)) for a few euros, and it's been fine ever since.

I plan to buy the Inzone H9 II as a successor to the original H9 despite the shortcomings described above, and I know I'll be
100% satisfied.

Re: Mafia: The Old Country (PS5) - Historical Crime Story Runs Out of Ammo

Hairy_Potter

I caught up over the weekend. I sold the game today. Nice graphics and environment, overall good atmosphere. Quests and story nothing groundbreaking. Gameplay is the weakest part of the game. As a whole it's a mediocre game. I was glad it only lasts 12 hours. A rating of 6/10 fits the condition. I might have been a little more charitable and given it a 7/10.

Re: Hogwarts Legacy 2, Expanded First Game Both Reportedly in the Works

Hairy_Potter

HL had a nice castle and a pretty interesting battle system. But that game is really meant for casual players, and even then mainly for women and children. It's a boring simulator collecting thousands of stupid things with a stupid story. I don't understand the good reviews and sales. For me it was the worst game I played last year.

Re: Best PS5 Headsets in 2025 - Enhance Your Audio Experience

Hairy_Potter

I've been using the Sony Inzone H9 headset on my PS5 and now PS5 Pro for 2 and a half years. After previous experiences with Turtle Beach Stealth 700 and Steelseries Arctis 7 with which I was not completely satisfied, I found a headset that suits me 100%. If it breaks once and they still sell it I'll go for the Sony Inzone H9 again.

Re: 2023's Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Outsold Ubisoft's Outlaws in 2024

Hairy_Potter

When I first saw the trailer for Outlaws I said to myself: this is what I want to play. I bought it on release day and had a great time playing it. It's not the game of the year, but I didn't mind. Anyway, Sabacc even with all the shenanigans is awesome. In the future when all the DLCs comes out I plan to play it again.

Re: All PS5 Pro Enhanced Games

Hairy_Potter

The list is growing nicely. I am optimistic about this. If PSSR implementation is as easy as they say, every developer should at least use a new upscaler if they want to extend the lifetime of their games.

Re: PS5 Pro was a '5-Year Project', In Development Before PS5's Launch

Hairy_Potter

@BrettAwesome I ordered my PS5 on September 17, 2020 at a local retailer just after midnight as the Sony Showcase ended. And I got my console the first day it was available here and that was at the global launch on November 19, 2020. That retailer also does a buyout of used consoles and gaming accessories and then resells those as used merchandise. In practice this means I brought my four year old PS5, in its original packaging, nicely cleaned. The technician plugged it in and checked it. It took about 10 minutes. He printed out a bill of sale and paid me cash actual purchase price and that was 300€. I'll do the same with the PS5 Pro when it's time. I've had that experience, you might have a different one. Everyone arranges as they know how.
Have a nice day.

Re: PS5 Pro Packaging Flaunts Its Disc-Free Nature

Hairy_Potter

When do you think the time will come when major new games will stop coming out on discs and the slow salami method will be switched to digital distribution? What will you do if you still have a giant collection of disc games? Will you keep the last available HW with a disc drive? I'm interested in this from a practical standpoint.

Re: PS5 Pro Packaging Flaunts Its Disc-Free Nature

Hairy_Potter

It's clear where this is going. I still have a disc drive for the PS5 Pro, but I won't be buying one for the PS6. I only have about 20 boxed games anyway, and I sold the rest. I've decided to go fully digital. I understand the pros and cons, but that's the way it is.

Re: PS5 Pro was a '5-Year Project', In Development Before PS5's Launch

Hairy_Potter

Let's do some math. I bought the PS5 on release day for 500€. I sold it last week for 300€. I'll buy the PS5 Pro for 950€ (with stand and disc drive). In 3-4 years when the PS6 comes out, I'll sell the PS5 Pro for about 500€. All in all, 7-8 years of gaming on decent and still up-to-date HW will set me back about 650€. Is that a lot or a little? I'm a completely average, unremarkable guy from Slovakia and I work as an ordinary warehouseman. But I don't need to cry.

Re: Like It or Not, This Is Why PS5 Pro Doesn't Have a Disc Drive

Hairy_Potter

I already have the disc drive on my shelf at home waiting for the PS5 Pro. I own about 50 discs. Trends being what they are, I have preferred the digital version for some time now. Unless of course there is too much of a price difference over the physical version. Physical media will end one day whether you like it or not. When switching to digital only, I want to keep it as seamless and financially acceptable as possible.

Re: PS5 Pro's 30th Anniversary Bundles Are Getting Flipped for $5,000

Hairy_Potter

30th Anniversary looks nice. They could have made all the PS5 Pro's at Sony with this kind of treatment if they wanted to celebrate. At least they would have unplugged the scalpers from the game. I'll even be happy with a regular Pro. For me, consoles are consumables. A new one comes in and the old one goes away.
